Pools are a means of raising the Athletic Skill and having fun in the Sims 3. They're easy to build if you want a Simple Pool and mostly customisable. This little guide will show you the basics of building a pool and the sort of stuff you can do with it.
This is the Build Mode Menu, the different sub-menus are displayed with pictures, we want the one of a pool, which is self-explanatory.
When you click on it you will be faced with this menu shown below:
I have two options already open to me, the Pool Tool and Curved Pool Tools. The later is a feature from The Sims 3 Late Night . For the basics we just want the standard Pool Tool. It acts like building a wall, just this time it makes a hole in the ground and fills it with water, just click and drag to shape, you can also add onto the pool by drawing another one from the edge of the existing pool.
There you have your basic pool. If you played Sims 2 then you'll probably be aware of the fact that Sims used to only be able to get in and out of a Pool via a Pool Ladder, that isn't the case in The Sims 3, most Sims can climb out of the pool like we can and jump in. Although if a ladder is present it will make it easier for them and most favourable, it's always safer to just have one to lower the chances of drowning, a death in Sims 3.
If you look at the image below you will see a Pool Ladder, simply click on it to go to another menu with Pool Objects available.
Here you can buy a Pool Ladder and place it on the edge of a Pool wall, make sure to leave space for a Sim to use it.
Another object is the Pool Lights, these illuminate your pool at night.
You can also buy a mosaic, these are nice but only partially recolourable and so they retain a mostly blue colouring.
A great option for Pools however is that the Walls and Floors are fully customisable, you can place any Wall Paper or flooring, you can also customise them in the amazing feature called Create-A-Style. Meaning you can change your default walls and floors of blue to whatever you want!
