Carl's Sims 3 Guide - Skills, Traits, Careers, Rewards, and Lifetime Wishes for Ambitions and World Adventures

The Sims 3 Business Career Track

This Sims 3 Guide was originally written for the PC and Mac versions of the game, but also will help owners of the console versions - PS3, Xbox 360 and Wii. Please remember some info or numbers may have changed.

Business Career Track in the Sims 3To get a job in the business career track, have your Sim apply at the office building in town. Interestingly, this career track requires no skills, only friends (co-workers and boss). Eventually they'll have to hold meetings in their spare time to begin to excel. Power Brokers (level 10) will get paid handsomely for the meetings they hold, and work very short hours throughout the week. They'll make $500 per hour ($750) for holding a 1 1/2 hour meeting.

Good Traits for The Sims 3's Business Career Track

You'll notice that the business career track is a bit unique. It features no skill-based performance metrics. In short, most any Sim can excel in this track so long as they befriend the boss and co-workers. With that in mind, I have only one recommendation:

Schmoozer rocks for those days when aspiring CEO can spend a little time around the water cooler. This will help your Sim to befriend all co-workers. You'll need to meet them all first, and I recommend your Sim spends their first days doing so until they've accomplished this. Afterward, switch to talking to them during work hours to get the friends bars moving on all at once. Your Sim will do even better at this with the office hero lifetime happiness reward.

It's a choice for me to play pranks on my co-workers, what I suggest is pranking your boss. That's what I did, then my meetings were a ton more effective. I went from bad to good in a couple of meetings.

I had my sim go into the business career, but their boss retired, and now since they have no boss the "Boss" career performance meter is on "Bad" and will go lower as he gets promoted. Any ideas on how to fix this?

Have you tried "Suck up to boss" as your attitude during work? You should have been assigned a new boss when the old one retired.

Just a small correction with the salary of the Power Broker. my sim's is one and his salary is $316/hour. Your sim must have gotten a pay raise somewhere in between his career. I'm pretty sure mine hasn't because I've been waiting for one since forever.

Love this guide!

My sim makes 1,800/hr as a power broker. I got an A in Business at college, and have the entrepreneurial mindset. I also live in the city town.

Hey, does anyone know if there are any benefits to holding offsite meetings compared to ones at the busniss centre?
Not really other than location.  They both seem to raise the meetings metric at the same rate.

Okay, Thanks. I'll keep that in mind when I hold meetings

Sim Powerbroker was low on 'Meetings', so I lined her up to hold meetings at numerous (all) the meeting locations around town and just concentrated on other Sims and Pets.

My Sim is a Power Broker and gets 600 an hour. George Dean lives in Riverview and has a degree in Business (B grade). He also has the Entrepreneurial Mindset. Don't know if the degree or the LTR has anything to do with it...

My two Sims are Power Brokers and they get more than 800/hr, they all have A grade Business degree. But they only work 3hrs a day, 3 days a week so they earn less than the chair man of the board so getting on the highest level of the job make no sense. I wish they could had 2 jobs at a same time.

Actually it is:
-Chairman of the Board $1812/day
-Power Broker $993/day
PB has to work 3 weeks to make what Chairman makes in one...

you work for half as long. if you use the extra 3 hours to hold 2 meetings not only will it give your meetings held a boost, but you'll add 1500 to your total for the day, making the rank 10 still better than rank 9 on the job ladder.
if you choose not to hold meetings after you're done with a job, well, that's your choice.
