Carl's The Sims 3 Career Track Guide: Career Paths List M-Z

This is a full list of all career paths in the Sims 3. here you'll find information on the work schedules of the level 10 careers in the game. Also, I'll do the math to show what the hourly pay rate comes to when your Sim makes it to work every day in a week. Keep in mind that these figures are for Sims who have never received a raise. With enough rhaises, your Sims can get much better salaries than the base rate. Your Sim will also earn raises when they're in a top level position, so there's a reason keep those job performance meters up even when they're reached level 10!

Also, I'll list the skill requirements of each career. You should be aware that in some careers, certain job requirements, most notably co-workers and boss, may disappear as a requirement. For skills, this is not usually the case however. Still, if you want your Sim to rise quickly, getting to know the boss and co-workers will get them there faster on jobs that require it.

Work Schedule: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday from 9AM to 2PM
Salary (Weekly Base Pay at Level 10): $480 an hour. 20 Hours/week = 9600
Career Track Skill and Social Requirements: Mood, Logic, Research
Job Special Abilities: Determine Baby's Gender
Career Info: As you can see, this is clearly not a difficult career path to pursue. The ability to determine a baby's gender (use it on a pregnant Sim) is neat, but will see limited use. What this career track lacks in special abilities it makes up for in sheer volume of money. It offers a very nice hourly wage.(

Work Schedule: Monday, Tuesday, Friday and Saturday from 1PM to 6PM
Salary (Weekly Base Pay at Level 10): $361 an hour. 20 Hours/week = 7220
Career Track Skill and Social Requirements: Guitar, Logic, Mood and Orchestra Members or Band Members
Job Special Abilities: Hold Autograph Session
Career Info: This one shouldn't be too hard. Work on guitar only until around level 6, then work on getting some Logic skill. Hit Movie Composers in the Sims 3 can hold autograph sessions.

Holding Autograph Sessions will send your town outside a store, where they will sign autographs. People will come up to your famous Sim to get photos signed, and your Sim will make about $100 per photo. Also, bonus money is earned from the shopkeeper if Sims happen to visit the place of business where you hold the session. Signing autographs is a cool way for Hit Movie Composers to make a little side money.

Work Schedule: No days, Holds optional Concerts instead (3PM to 11PM)
Salary (Weekly Base Pay at Level 10): Varies
Career Track Skill and Social Requirements: Guitar, Mood, Band Members, Performances
Job Special Abilities: Hold Concert, Autograph Session
Career Info: Like the Hit Movie Composer above, Rock Stars are able to hold Autograph Sessions for some money, as they're famous Sims. A Rock Star has no set schedule, but must schedule concerts at the theatre between the hours of 3PM and 11PM. Ideally, they can perform four concerts in a day. The ability to hold autograph sessions helps make up for the intitally (comparatively) low money of concerts. Completing guitar challenges will help your Sim to make money when playing concerts.

Work Schedule: Mondays, 7AM to 1AM
Salary (Weekly Base Pay at Level 10): $334 an hour. 18 Hours/week = 6012
Career Track Skill and Social Requirements: Athletic, Handiness, Mood, Boss
Job Special Abilities:
Career Info: Raising an astronaut is not too hard. They only require two skills and a boss relationship to advance. Your Sim will need to spend a good bit of time studying to raise handiness and athletics simultaneously, starting at level 3. This is an interesting top level career. Rather than generals, Astronauts are now the top dogs of the Sims 3 military career track. They only work one day per week, as you can see. This is an interesting career choice for Sims that can make money doing something else on the side, such as playing guitar, collecting or just partying every day they're off duty. The lack of any special abilities makes the one day a week work schedule the only real perk here.

Work Schedule: Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 9AM to 1:30PM
Salary (Weekly Base Pay at Level 10): $423 an hour. 13.5 Hours/Week = 5711
Career Track Skill and Social Requirements: Charisma, Mood, Boss, Funding
Job Special Abilities: Steal Campaign Funds, Inspire Teens, Pep Talk
Career Info: Aside from the special social interactions, becoming Leader of the Free World in the Sims 3 isn't anything too special. Getting there is most of the fun. There is a special gameplay element here, the requirement for campaign fundraisers. Politicians need a lot of charisma for two reasons. First, it's part of the job as an advancement requirement. Secondly, your Sim needs to be able to woo other Sims easily to get campaign donations. They can throw a special kind of party, a fundraiser, in order to raise this money as well. Again, charisma can help because your Sim should be socializing at the party trying to ensure everyone has a good time.

The Sims 3 Pro Sports Career Track Uniform for Sports LegendProfessional Sports: Sports Legend
Click for Career Track Job Pay and Details
Work Schedule: 3PM to 6PM every day but Thursday
Salary (Weekly Base Pay at Level 10): $462 an hour. 12 Hours/week = 5544
Career Track Skill and Social Requirements: Mood, Athletic, Teammates, Game Record
Job Special Abilities: Autograph Signing, Special Pay
Career Info: Professional Sports Sims need only worry about one major issue: athletic skill. It won't be too hard to raise, and your Sim can even begin training at work. A good relationship with teammates will be helpful throughout the career track. Note that only four of the six days' pay are accounted for. The other days, your Sim will have a game. If they win, they can earn a lot of money. My Sports Legend pulled in around $5,000 from winning a game, and it only took three hours of his time. Get your Sim's athletic skill up above and beyond to improve the team's chances of winning. You can see the score of the game by hovering over the progress box. You're naturally rooting for the Home team!

Sports Legends can hold Autograph Sessions like the other Famous type of Sims, such as Rock Star. It's a nice quick way to make a buck, and the profits can be huge if you position your Sim at a good shop where a lot of Sims will be that day.

To hold an Autograph session, click a shop and select the action. Your Sim will meet and greet fans outside the business.

The Sims 3 Science Career Track Uniform for Mad ScientistScience: Mad Scientist
Click for Career Track Job Pay and Details
Work Schedule: Monday, Tuesday and Friday from 9AM to 1:30PM
Salary (Weekly Base Pay at Level 10): $481 an hour. 13.5 Hours/week = 6494
Career Track Skill and Social Requirements: Gardening, Handiness, Fishing
Job Special Abilities: Perform Experiment, Several Plants
Career Info: Although the Mad Scientist requires three skills to make it to the top of their career track, it's not too difficult to do. There just aren't any other requirements other than the three skills. This makes it a great choice for a Sim pursuing the Renaissance Sim Lifetime Wish. First, your Sim will need gardening alone. Handiness will appear early as a second requirement, then fishing will pop up around level 6. Taking traits that benefit all three of these skills is advisable, not only because it will help them to climb faster, but also because of the potential this Sim has. With Gardening and Fishing, they could also take the Natural Cook trait and be able to grow quality plants with good fertilizer, and cook perfect food all the while making a nice living as a mad scientist.

Mad Scientists get access to the Perform Experiment action. It can be performed on most any household items, even the Mysterious Mr. Gnome. The action will put a random upgrade (or curse!) on an item. Your Sim can experiment on items so that they're more fun, and make Sims happy when they're nearby or using an object. If a bad upgrade is put on an object, have your Sim undo the experiment, then try again.

Also along the way watch for several flowers and plants to be given to your scientist. Planting them with gardening can give you access to some rare plants pretty easily.
