Carl's Sims 3 on Facebook
« on: May 04, 2010, 09:51:20 PM »
We're now on Facebook!  I've got a page set up for Carl's Sims 3, but I'm far from being a Facebook guru, so I'm not sure it's working properly.  I've still got some issues with having the page being connected to the username, so the url is long.  If y'all would stop by, take a look, and leave a message, I'd sure appreciate it!

I started a topic.  The Cub is on there too.  The topic is "Hey Simmers".  Well, I actually didn't know I was starting that, but just wanted to say I was there, or it might be under discussions.  I am not to savvy yet on these sites, I am already a member on facebook anyway, but mainly played the games.

Ok, bear with me.  You joined our Facebook page?  I don't see you in the section for people who Like us.  This page works differently than just a regular Facebook page where you add friends and stuff, so I'm still learning it.

I see you now on the discussions tab!  I tried to look at your profile, but your privacy settings won't allow it unless I'm your friend.  Problem with that is that friend requests show up as being from me personally and not from the Carl's Sims 3 page and I don't want to barge into everyone's lives like that.  Know what I mean?

If you click on the profile picture, it should have a button that ask to add as friend.  Then the person accepts and you can see the profile.  I don't mind, that is what it is for.  Sort of personalizes who you are talking to and I don't have nothing to hide, lol.

I see what you mean, I tried clicking the pic and nothing comes up, not sure if will for you or not.  Will check again.

I removed the image from Facebook because we really don't have permission to post pictures of our members here.  Having it show up on Facebook is different because everyone is voluntarily adding themselves to our page, but that doesn't mean we can add their pictures here.

Please wait with that for a little while. I am busy with getting you back, but I can't send more messages per hour than 20. Which is a member limit, I think.

Thanks! I appreciate that.
Btw. Normally I will never ask this, but can you change my account today (just for today) so I can send more messages than just 20 per hour. At 15:30 pm today I have to leave and it is already 13:19 here) so before that time I was hoping to send 100 pm's to members. Which isn't really possible with only 20 per hour.

Oh no! Pam you can't leave! I absolutely enjoyed having discussions with you on this forum, it really wouldn't feel the same without you! From the times you've corrected my grammar or posts to the times we've discussed just Sim things. I think it's ridiculous if people think you're scaring them away by showing them the rules. It's the rules, if someone wants this site to be orderly you must have rules and you must enforce them. It doesn't seem right that you're getting fired over something like this! To think that Carl is removing his best moderator for a person who can't understand that grammar is what helps some people actually understand this site, to me it seems so silly.
I've seen all the posts you've done and all the walk throughs you've made, and they were all so lively and energetic. You really put your time into this and it really feels like you deserve to stay here. I can only agree with everyone else that you shouldn't be fired! I respect you a lot for sticking up for what you believe in and I think it takes guts. Hopefully Carl will see his loss, you truly are a very great moderator, Pam.

And also, I have added myself to the people who "like" (aka becoming a Fan of) on Facebook.

Pam, is Carl's Sims3 still on facebook and if so how do you find it/access it?  I'm on facebook as we "speak" sending folks who have been asking for help, and not getting it, here.  You will probably have to do some weeding out.  They aren't all polite.

If it is a post you wrote, I know on mine I can do it, if you mouse over to the right of the post, "remove" will come up.  You can just remove it and rewrite it.

I'm linked from comments on our official Facebook. Feel free. You won't get anything but the laughing man logo for me though ;)

No problem Carl, we can always Google you. ;)

I have a Facebook account somewhere, and I thought my name was Leto85 over there as well. If one of you want to add me, go ahead. My page doesn't contain a lot of information (or pictures) yet and I thought most of it is in Spain written but I do check it sometimes for incase someone want to add me.

How can I ask for a friend invite? I'm starting to do a little bit more with Facebook.

Leto, I believe you just click on that person's name or photo and at the top of the page is usually a button to hit to ask them to be your friend.  It's a bit harder on Facebook because one has to know more than a person's forum name to find them if you are doing a search.  I tried finding you and finally had to look on your profile and saw your email address.  I think I just sent you a friend request.   :)

Is that so? How weird I didn't get a notice on my e-mail account. I thought Facebook and my inbox where linked together. In that case I will check the site right now. Can you do me a favor and mail me the e-mail you've saw on my account to me in a PM on this forum? Than I know you have the right (and proper) Leto. I've never thought it was possible, but there are some Leto wannabe's out there. :P

P.s. I don't have a avatar there right now. Things are going to change though.

Uhm, I have just clicked on the photo and clicked and clicked again and the only thing I could do is reporting it. I mean: that was a option I've got, which I havent (and will not) tried. In other words, still not find it. Maybe it could be an option on one's profile you can toggle on or off: 'Enable sims to send me a friend invite; yes or no.' I'm just guessing though.

You click this button:

The "Add as Friend" button.
Oh yeah, that's my own profile.
I scribbled out a bunch of things.

First time posting a picture.  :D

Haha, no problem. But thanks for the help. The point was, because I asked, not always the friend button was visable. Maybe it is an account setting though, which the owner can change if he or she wanted to. I'm not sure.

Yes, it is an account setting. You can change it to Everyone, Friends of Friends, or something else I can't remember.

I joined and I'm trying to find what everyone looks like in real life from facebook.

Did you (or anyone else) get an intrigued moodlet from seeing all the real life faces and Pam's videos on Uriah and his family?

I have the intrigued moodlet right now, from stopping buy, and looking at Saltypaws' discussion on the Discussion board.

EDIT: I've gotten the Impressed moodlet too from seeing Pam's videos.

For those of you who don't have our Facebook page marked or liked, this would be a good time to do so.  If the Forum going to be down longer than normal for maintenance or problems, Carl or I will post about it on Facebook so that our members won't be left in the dark.  Go to the first post of this thread to find our Facebook page.

I liked the Facebook page a while ago.
Just a quick question:
If any of you can guess who I am from the page (and you probably can), I just ask you not to friend me on Facebook. I mainly use it to keep in touch with friends and family and I wouldn't really want Internet strangers finding out too much about my life. There are some things I'd like to keep between my friends and I. I love talking to you here and on the Facebook page, but I'm kind of picky about my privacy (we got shown a creepy video in assembly a few weeks back.)
Frankly, our ancestors don't seem like anything to brag about. I mean, look at the state they left us in, with the wars and the broken planet. Clearly, they didn't care what would happen to the people that came after them.

Oh I'll respect that. But you know you can make a lot of things private on Facebook. Just don't ask me how, I just know you can. :)

That's smart of you, Sophie.  There are many layers of privacy settings on Facebook.  Have you gone through all the crazy detail to set everything correctly?

I have. My mum insisted it, and I agreed because it makes sense. It took forever, but at least I'm safe now as I only accept friend requests from people I know.
