Are we allowed to use the Furniture and Clothes/CAS stuff? Just not any of the traits, skills, careers and LTHR?

Yeah, I agree. Nothing from Ambitions that would affect score--so, traits, etc. I'll think of how to word this later. I'm off to the zoo with my family. :)

I just noticed that the moodlet manager rule isn't in the list - does that mean we can use it for this challenge?

Nope, it's listed under the additional rules part after the big rule list.

Just a heads up any needed leaderboard updates -- looks like they'll have to wait until Monday when I return. For some reason my mom's new computer is doing bizarre things with the text box when I click Modify on the first post making it impossible for me to select items. No biggie.

Ah! missed that. I thought that was a strange omission!

As long as it doesn't affect the score, it's fine. Unless there's some kind of super duper bed that gives a much better sleeping moodlet or something like that, furniture and clothing should be ok.

I'm all for not using anything from Ambitions, but I do have a question (comment).  We will have no choice (if we have Ambitions) but to collect the new gems, since we don't know what we're picking up.  I don't know how valuable these new gems are, since I have not been following the Pre-Ambitions hoopla, but if they are very valuable it could give a big monetary advantage to the people with Ambitions over those without.

I have ambitions, and I can confirm, both the new gem and new metal can't be found in the wild. I have gotten them when my stone sculpture gets shattered. There could also be a chance that the miner can dig them up, but i can't confirm that,

Another solution is to simply play in Riverview and Sunset Valley for this challenge.

Which is the most logical place to go seeing as many have been collecting in these places and know the spots whereas in the new place not many know the locations of the collectables. Also a expect many have already started like me, played through day one and saved and gone off to do something else!  :D

Usually when an EP comes out it affects every town in the game.  As stated in a previous post, I have not followed any of the hoopla regarding Ambitions, mostly because I like to be surprised when I get it.  So what you're saying is that if I want to do Ambitions stuff, it has be done in Twinbrooks?  That doesn't make much sense to me, when every other EP they've done in the past shows up in any neighborhood, once you have the EP installed.

The new buildings are automatically installed to sunset valley (but in a very ugly way, they are all facing weird directions, and don't come up to the curb or fit in.)

More reason for me to move into making my own worlds! Using the Games worlds whenever I am taking part in a Challenge!

I seriously doubt you would be allowed to use worlds that you create for a challenge.  We'll start specifying which towns are to be used in challenges in the future.  It would make the playing field unlevel if you were to play in a world you created yourself.  We'd have no way of knowing what you've done to your world that could give you an unfair advantage.  I just don't see it happening.

I'll just piggyback on top of Pam's comment and quickly agree. I'm pretty sure this ruleset as well as some other specifically mention which neighborhoods a player is allowed to play in. So, custom worlds are not an option. I can definitely see adding Twinbrook into the mix very, very soon given it's an EA world and will have standards that parallel the other two EA worlds.

I'm pretty sure what Samht04 was saying is that he would use the worlds that come with the game for challenges (and implying his own worlds would only be for 'recreational use'). Its fairly obvious that you shouldn't use your own or downloaded worlds for challenges (and yes the rules usually say "Create x Young Adult Sim(s) in a brand new Sunset Valley or Riverview neighborhood"

Yeah Nancy got it right  ;) Dannyr said that the new lots/buildings from Ambitions were added wierdly so I meant that I would add them to my own worlds how I wanted them and only used the EA worlds (SV and RV) for the Challanges.  :)

If there's anyone else (other than I) having trouble remembering to write down vacation days, I just want to point out that this information can easily be obtained by looking in your adventure journal.  In the section for each country, it tells you how many days you've spent in that country.  Easier than writing it down.

Also, I don't have Ambitions yet and likely won't receive it until after I'm finished this challenge, but if there is a new gem, can that gem be obtained from the board breaker?  If so, and if that gem is quite valuable, as pointed out that would affect people's results.

If there's a new gem from the board breaker, it will have to stay in inventory and not be sold.

Well, it's been cold and raining here for days, meaning good weather for simming, meaning I've finished!  I thought this one would take much longer, but there were a lot of times when I could just fast forward along.

This was the most fun of the challenges I've done.  Especially the scalp collection (ah, pardon, I mean "wine and dine"  ;)).  I thought the insects would be the hardest collection, but they weren't too bad.  It was the opals and pink diamonds that held me up.  Can someone explain why more than half my pink diamonds had magic gnomes in them?  Why can't those infernal gnomes go live in quartzes and leave my pinks alone?!

Anyway, I finished up on week 7, day 1.  Plus 20 vacation days.

Wow. I never thought anyone would post results for this so quickly. Nicely done, Schipperke. I'll convert everything to days and get your score on the board.

I would like to give it a try. Can I still join or should I have registered before the event starts?

BTW, I play in the German language version, but the translations are pretty straight-forward, I hope that doesn't matter.
