Twinbrook's Library
« on: June 04, 2010, 01:15:21 PM »
Hey in the library in Twinbrook, are there any skill books? I looked when I played yesterday in all the bookshelves, but I couldn't find a single one. This is kind of a bummer since I made 5 people to do the new professions, and I didn't have enough money left over to get them started on level one of a skill. I just always used the library for the first skill.

1) Edit town
b) choose the library to build/buy
4) Add "The Book Corral" from the study tab

I haven't tested this, but another member suggested that skill books will come to the library when it's owned and upgraded.  Of course, that doesn't help in most normal situations.

When you own it you still have to add that bookcase, so why not start out by adding it from edit town mode.

Yeah I just went to edit town and put the glass-type bookcase in the library, and it had the books. Besides, I don't have enough money to buy the property out, and I hate using cheats for stuff like this, but I was okay with edit town. Thanks for all the help guys! This forum pulled through again.

I have never really used the Library in Game! Even in my Legacy, if they go there they go for the computers or for 'fun' if its's possible!  :D

The libraries are awesome for skill building. Sims read the skill books twice as fast. And the toddler books fly in just a couple of minutes. Even if I own the books, I often send my Sim to the library for the actual reading. It's a nice outing for families with toddlers, too. Pack everyone up in a taxi and off they go!

The library also helps for a writer; as you read more books, you're able to write novels faster and therefore make more money and build the skill faster. Overall, the library is the best place to read.

After a few weeks of being left alone my Elder Sims in the Legacy have a whole Library in their inventories and there are no books in the book cases!  ;D

Anyway I think I will start using the Library more now.  ;)

You mean like, they took the books from the library, or there are just no more books in your (sims's) own personal bookshelves

Hey guys I was wondering whether the Bridgeport Library has the same problem with the skill-building books? I can't find any. Wonderful that I now know how to fix it, but I'm wondering whether this is the same for everyone or whether my games is just bugged?

Hi Astoria.

Yes, the library in Bridgeport is also missing skill books.  It's that way for all of us.

I definitely thought I was missing something when I couldn't find skill books at Twinbrook's library!  Is there a way to edit the town so that every time you begin a new town, the things that we need (or even quirky things that I personally like) are included?  I guess CAW is an option... but I've tried to open Twinbrook in it and it gives me an error message.
