So I've created my Sims already but am not playing them, instead (barely) waiting for tomorrow!  I was going to use the ones I created for practice but thought better of it.  So my Sims (without pictures since I don't know how to do that) are:

August Yearly (female) - Artistic, Flirty, Inappropriate, Photographers Eye, Unlucky.  LTW - Heartbreaker
September Yearly (male) - Dramatic, Evil, Neurotic, Savvy Sculptor, Unflirty.  LTW - Emperor of Evil
October Yearly (male)  - Computer Whiz, Good, Hates the Outdoors, Savvy Sculptor, Workaholic  LTW -International Super Spy
November yearly (male) - Clumsy, Commitment Issues, Daredevil, Hates the Outdoors, Mooch  LTW - Jack of All Trades

They are all siblings (which saves August flirting with her roomies!) and moving into Twinbrooks.

Can't wait for tomorrow!

:D

Yes, you can start.  And I wouldn't be surprised if Grumpy is always yellow.  I don't think I've ever played it, though.  ;D

Well, this is a fine mess I've gotten into.  I've been playing for hours, having a blast, and I've already managed to run afoul of one of the rules.  Here's what happened:

Jane, my writer, decided she wanted to go to China.  The household could afford the trip at this point, and there were several useful things she could do there.  So off she went.  She finished writing her sci-fi novel, read several books, and got her martial arts skill up to 5.  A very productive trip.  Then she went home.

My first surprise when the home screen finished loading was to see Jane already in the house.  The next surprise was to see another Jane arriving in a taxi.  Jane 1 apparently stayed home; her wishes are the same as they were before the China trip.  Jane 2 is identical to the first in appearance and traits but doesn't have all of her skills.  She is shown as a member of the household.  She has the same level of relationship with the other members of the household as Jane 1, except she and Harold aren't married.  Which is no doubt a big relief to Harold; I don't think the poor guy could manage two neurotic, snobby wives.  Neither of the Janes has the travelled moodlet or any martial arts skill.

My first thought was I could just evict Jane 2.  But that would leave me with having wasted the time and money on the trip.  Help!  What should I do?

Sounds more like a bug than a breaking of the rules. Metro will have to rule on it, but I'd let you start from an earlier save if you had one or even restart the challenge.

Very bizarre, Diane! Don't worry, as Delgar said, you haven't broken any rules. Open the cheats panel and delete Jane 2. She's the one that apparently is whacked out. Save and exit to the desktop to clear the cheat panel and hopefully put your file back in order.

Ok, I can get rid of Jane 2, but what about my wasted trip?  The household really isn't wealthy enough to throw away money like that.

Give yourself 2 kaching cheats. Immediately buy something as close to $700 as you can. It will need to be an object that does not appreciate in value. That object will need to be put in your family inventory immediately and stay there for the duration of your game. That should put you back to getting the $1300 you lost on China trip #1.

Absolutely not. Jane #1 never even traveled, so you're still starting from scratch.

Oh boy, this game is seriously messed up.  I got rid of Jane 2 as you said, exited, and have just restarted the game.  Jane 2 is gone, but her relationships appear to have been added to Jane 1, whose relationship panel now shows 2 Harolds, one as husband and the other as best friend.  I figured that would sort itself out, and went off with Jane to satisfy her wish to go to China.

Now I'm in China and Jane is nowhere to be found.  There is no sim's picture at the left of the screen.  I can't find her in map view.  When I click on "my home" it just zooms in on whatever part of the landscape we happen to be focused on.

I have no idea what is going on but I don't think it will be possible to continue with this game.

From what I know, the Grumpy trait adds a permanent invisible negative moodlet (I don't recall the exact amount though). So it is possible to get it to green, it's just harder than with non grumpy sims.

I believe it's -20. I remember playing the Goths my very first Sims 3 game and they were all in the yellow to start. I'm like "What the heck? What did I do wrong already?"  :D

Here is my fantastic four!  I must say that I am happy with what the Great Random Wishmaster granted me.

From left to right:

Connor Collector
(Absent Minded, Clumsy, Inappropriate, Neurotic, Snob)
Private Museum

Violet Ivy
(Adventurous, Computer whiz, Easily Impressed, Eco Friendly, Excitable)
Creature Robot Cross Breeder

Indiana Jones

Seasoned Traveler

Kiara Hoodwinked
(Artistic, Evil, Heavy Sleeper, Perceptive, Perfectionist)
Pervasive Private Eye

Now I wish I was home for the afternoon so I could play...instead I have to go back to work.  You stay at home dads have it made, lol.

Yuck, Dianne. That's tough luck, but again, no fault of your own. Can that file and you get a do over.

Ha ha. You lookin' at me, girl?  ;D Yeah, it's a sweet gig. I've been playing my foursome a lot today. I think I'm at the end of Week 2. It's so much slower than with a single Sim! But, I've also been doing about 10 loads of laundry.  :D

Dianne, it just occurred to me that to be completely fair with your do over you need to make 4 Sims with identical traits and LTW as your first foursome. So, let the game choose the appearance, but you need to have the same mix of females/males, etc and everything needs to be the same as your first attempt.

Are you sure?  I liked those characters and would be very glad to play them again.  I've already deleted them and created a new group, but it would be easy to do another 4 with the same traits.

Yes, that's my request. Your do over group needs to be identical as the group that you deleted with the exception of appearance (don't really care about that given the circumstances).

I am hoping I made the deadline - I asked on the 17th but I wasnt sure if I made the deadline or not, since I am not listed on page one.

My Motley Crew consists of

Catherine; Absent minded, loves the outdoors, genius, dislikes children, computer whiz; LTW Dana Profiler
Jamie; Work-o-holic, disciplined, easily impressed, artistic, frugal; LTW Physical Perfection
JR; Good sense of humor, light sleeper, mooch, athletic, friendly; LTW Swimming in cash
Lex; Genius, bookworm, evil, kleptomaniac, ambitious; LTW Emperor of Evil

Overall not too bad although a bit odd on the combos.  LOL  I started them as room mates.  I tried to pick LTWs I have not completed before.
