My traveling sim also had the wish to "Invite ____ to visit" regarding a foreign local.  He invited the person in the wish, and it wasn't fulfilled.  Which is a shame because he gets wishes like that ALL the time and I haven't even bothered trying again.

The makeover didn't work for long.  Today, that Sim is just gone from the household.  I've been saving multiple copies of this file, so I'm going back to a save before all this started.  Thank goodness I found it.

I'm having a bit of a crisis here. My Sims 3 Game Loader has informed me that I need to install the 2.9.10 patch. So it starts installing and gets to 99% with 0 minutes and 0 seconds left and absolutely stops. I waited for about 10 minutes or more with it completely frozen. The last time this happened I figured out that it couldn't update because of the custom music files I had put in the game that didn't belong there. I had to completely uninstall and reinstall before it would patch. This time I was sure not to remove and add ANY files from the game whatsoever, but still no patch. Help please?   :'( ???

EDIT: Ahh, never mind! I guess it was just teasing me. When I ran it a second time it worked fine... pft and I was SO scared haha. :D

I'm surprised no one has finished this yet. I don't think my doing very well. My sims got really bad traits lol :) Hope everyone is having fun with it though!  :D

Hi Applejackkxo,

I think the reason no one has finished yet is that this is a very long challenge.  For me, managing 4 sims means a lot of pausing while I queue up things for each one to do.  And some of us (me included) have had major problems with travelling - I've had several trips that were just wasted time because of those problems.  But I'm closing in on it - week 14, Tuesday or Wednesday - can't remember which - with 62 vacation days left.

As for the traits - I think when we post our results, we should all include what traits each sim had.  It would be interesting to see how the traits and happiness points stack up.  Good luck to us all!

I'm really enjoying this one. Currently, I'm on week 5 and have used up 33 vacation days. Touch wood, I haven't had any of the travel bugs that people are reporting. My only problem is a klepto who cannot fulfill her LTW, but I'm keeping her happy in other ways, so the points are still stacking up.

Wait, what are vacation days? Uh oh, I think I must have overlooked that part in the instructions. I don't want World Adventures. Wahhh, does that mean I'm out?  :'(  I feel pretty stupid now, lol.

  • This challenge ends after 100 town days (Week 15, Day 2, 11:59 PM) and 100 total vacation days. How you want to distribute your vacation time amongst your Sims is completely up to you — if you want each Sim to take 25 vacation days, that’s fine. Or having only one Sim take all 100 days is okay too, but 100 is the maximum. So, remember, if you take more than one Sim on a vacation to count all days for all Sims.

It doesn't mean you're out, but it means you'll have a significantly lower score than others.

Yeah, I went back and re-read the beginning after I saw that. I guess that's what I get for not reading thoroughly.  :P
Oh well, I wasn't planning on winning or anything anyway so I'll keep going since I've gone this far. :) hehe

EXACTLY why I am hating this challenge right now xD! The pause button practically gets more action than my mouse. I've never been a fan of big families for that exact reason and 15 weeks is a super long time. I've only ever played the Sims on normal length so this is a huge feat!

I'm on week 10 with half my vacation days gone. How is everyone else doing, just out of curiosity?? It seems like most of us will finish around the same time, minus the (very) late starters.

I'm on week 10 with around 150,000 for each of the 4 sims. How is everyone else doing, just out of curiosity??

If you're asking how everyone else is doing in general, that's fine, but if you're seeking specific happiness points totals from others before they finish, then I do not want that information posted.

I'm only a couple weeks into this challenge myself (I actually ran a shorter practice version with just a couple Sims just to get used to using completely random Sims) and so far I'm enjoying it.  I somehow got three Sims with the Athletic trait (if I'm remembering correctly, since I'm at work and can't check my game file right now).  I've burned up 15 vacation days already though, so I don't think forgetting about the vacation days will be a problem.

lol, I had a grey moment earlier. I have a sheet of paper and I write down who has gone on vacation, where, how many days they went for and a running total of how many remain. I was showing one of the kids and said, I'm really getting through them, I've spent 76 days already, but that was how many I had left, not spent. So my biggest problem is just remembering how I'm keeping records lol

I had a great system - I thought - for keeping track of vacation days.  Then I started having all the travel problems - trips that never really happened, apparently - and the system got totally messed up.  Fortunately, the Adventure Journal keeps track of each sim's travel days.  I'd be lost without it.

I've got about 5 weeks left on the game clock and I've already used all my travel days.  It's been an interesting ride that's for sure!  My Insane non-commitment sim keeps getting in fights with her husband if I don't keep her busy, so that's kept me on my toes!  She fights with him, and then she pops up the wish to woohoo with him.  ::)  Total nutjob!

Aside from my invisible sim who has now moved out of town, things are going pretty smoothly.  Just sort of sitting back and fulfilling a lot of wishes.  It's kind of relaxing really, not many huge decisions to make. :)

All 3 of my girls will be visiting my mom in St. Louis for 5 whole days! Woo hoo!!! So, I'll be seriously concentrating on making significant strides during that time, but that's not until the last week of July, so I have another week to catch up on other non-Sims tournaments I'm running.

I basically gave the Prepared Traveler trait to 3 of the 4 sims and made them all vacation together at the same time so when they went it used half of my vacation days all at once. That made keeping track of things much easier. I have one more vacation I can take if I put them all together (which I will).

Week 12... almost done... which leads me to ask (since this is my first challenge!) when/how do we post points? Any time we're done, on the closing date, through private message?

You post your points here in this thread whenever you're finished with the challenge.  Metro will then add your score to the leader board on the first page.  When the challenge closes, he will announce the winner.

So we count all points they get from any completed wish/challenge?  Not just their LTW?
I have so been playing this one wrong.  For instance, when you go to a foreign country you should do the adventures there?  I've just been using travel as a way to do their needed skills to get their LTW.  I'm at week 5 and a bit, (can't remember how much).  And only 4 trips taken singly.
What?  Grannies can't play games?
I speak perfect Nooblik, (and some Simlish)!

From the rules...

SCORING:

Sim #1 - Sim #4 — Mouse over the the treasure chest in the Lifetime Happiness Panel to get the Total Lifetime Happiness Acquired amount for each of your 4 Sims when game clock reads Week 15, Day 2, 11:59 PM.

Is it still unclear to you?
