You can still gain heaps of happiness points in Sunset Valley and Riverview without adding the new buildings (which would go against the rules) It's just comes down to making a choice as to what town you think you would do best in.

Oops, I must have missed that.  Sorry.

I assumed that
  • Any and all expansion content is acceptable, including anything from the new Ambitions expansion.
meant that we could use the world editor and the new Ambitions lots since they are expansion content.

EDIT to add:

Sign me up for my first challenge here.

I do have a question about this.  Do I need to uninstall my store content, since technically it's not expansion content?

Lately all my sims have been blue, green, or red.  It will make a change for me to play sims with a "normal" skin tone.

What about the new community lots (junkyard, firestation, laundromat, ???)? If I create a new Sunset Valley or Riverview, my game does not have these lots, leaving a lot of Ambition content unavailable in those areas. That more or less restricts me to Twinbrook if I want to use all features available.

If I make a new sunset valley or riverview, my game has generated a salon, a junkyard, a firestation and a consigment store and placed them. The laundromat is the only thing they don't place.

I read somewhere that it should happen that way, but it does not happen in my games :( .

Maritah, you're in and good luck.

@ik and others — well, I'm stumped. I didn't think this would be an issue. Like Lena said if you have Ambitions, then a NEW SV or Riverview neighborhood should automatically spawn the new lots. ik, have you trid a wipe/reinstall? I know it's a pain in the you-know-what and time consuming, but it often fixes glitches like this.

I am considering doing so when I get home from work tonight. Until now i did not know the lots are really supposed to be in the towns since they never show up in mine unless I place them manually. I will let you know if reinstall will fix the problem.

Oh wow, I didn't know about it adding the new lots to a new Riverview and Sunset Valley. I just created a new game in Sunset Valley and sure enough they are there! I suppose they would spawn in the same place all the time, but who knows.
I have a small junkyard (but neither of the two in Twinbrook ) at 2500 Pinochle Point, the fire station at 415 Skyborough Blvd, salon and tattoo place at 299 Skyborough and the consignment store at 350 Oak Grove Rd.

Good to know, Norma, that it's working as it should.

I would like to this one to please. Does it matter if i get this one done before the eight collections one or do you have to do them in order?

No, you do not need to finish challenges in any specific order. Just keep in mind the official closing date that is listed at the end of all rulesets.

Actually, the new towns don't spawn the lots, you get a choice of where to place them in your new town or is that what is happening in other peoples games.  I get to choose where I want to put my new stores in mine, just checking.

No, I didn't get to choose. I started a new game and they were just there. I didn't know if it was a random placement, so I closed that game and started another new game and they were in the same spots. I'm a bit annoyed because the spot where it puts the junkyard in Riverview is a nice big lot I often build on. Seems such a waste, a huge block for a tiny little junkyard. I know in a non-challenge game I can go and edit it and place it somewhere else, but that's just a pain.

That is strange then.  Every town I start, it has let me choose where to put those.  I find it hard to believe that some people have to place them and some are already there and why it is like that.  Should be the same, one way or the other.

It only lets me choose where to put them when I'm playing a town I had saved before Ambitions was released.  But a brand new game will place the lots automatically.

I just created a brand new SV game and I only saw the Landgraab Pick and Sell (consignment shop, obviously). I didn't see a salon, fire station, or junkyard anywhere. But, I was in neighborhood view and had not created a Sim yet, so I don't know if that makes a difference.

From the rules:  "•No other Sims can be added to your Household."  So, no children?  (weeps crocodile tears  ;D).  What about simbots?

Yeah, no kids. And I gotta make a judgement call on the Simbot and nix him as well. We'll call Simbot a Sim too for the purposes of this challenge, so he's out. I'll clarify the rules. But, don't fret — I foresee a total Simbot blowout challenge before the Tournament ends this year.  :D

Am I right in guessing that this rule counts out Mummies, too?

Basically you don't want to do anything that is going to add to your household — whether it's the addition of a spouse/child or a Mummy or a Simbot. You start with 4 pictures of your starting Sims, and that can't change in number.

Does this then mean that none of the four sims can have the Create 3 monsters LTW, unless it goes unfulfilled?

Not at all. My understanding is you just have the option to release them into the community, so it should not be a big deal. Someone obviously correct me if that's not the case.

I'll take a stab at this one.

From left to right we have:
Quincy Quatro (Coward, Schmoozer, Artistic, Charismatic, Ambitious)
Dolores Dos (Couch Potato, Loser, Childish, Schmoozer, Computer Whiz)
Uma Uno (Workaholic, Dramatic, Bookworm, Never Nude, Evil)
Teddy Tres (Slob, Party Animal, Heavy Sleeper, Kleptomaniac)

Hoo boy this should be fun lol.

Tom, that's definitely a bizarre group of Sims. Good luck. Remember not to start until next Friday.
