Just noticing that my name is not on the board yet. But I am ready to start. I mentioned my intent way back when on like page 2 or 3 of this thread. I am sure it was just overlooked. No big deal, but I just want to clarify that I am starting even though my name is not up yet. I hope that is ok?

Absolutely. Sorry about that. My "senior moments" are becoming more frequent.  :D

Maybe the move objects cheat? I've never used it so check the Guide for the specific cheat panel code. But, if this os causing you problems in your game, then I don't have a problem with you deleting it that way. Save and exit your game after you do this.
Where can I move them to? In a regular game, I'd access Edit Town and delete them when say three or so built-up. I don't know if you've played the SV junkyard, but it's small. I will try what you suggest, but I'm not sure how it would work.

If you have an inventor with high enough skill, you can just detonate the table and get the scrap from it.
Norma

No inventors. Got a gardener, a guy on the Rock Star track, a guy on the Master Thief track, and finally, my last Sim is going for the top of the Chef Track. If the guy makes Rock Star soon enough, he might try sculpting, but alas, no traits that would make it easy to do inventing. That would've worked though, I'd think, so thanks for trying to help.  :)

@NeoFelis:  Why can't you salvage the table?  What exactly happens?  And why can't your Sims go around it?

@NeoFelis:  Why can't you salvage the table?  What exactly happens?  And why can't your Sims go around it?

They complain the way they do when they're path is blocked. Then they give up and move to the next task. I've tried to have them do it multiple times in a row, some of the time with salvaging other things first, but no go. Sometimes they can go around it, but I've got three of those tables (they're Phobic Dining Tables, by the way) right now. Long rectangles with legs that stick outward from the tabletop are apparently perfect for blocking routes. The area at the front of the junkyard has several narrow places, but even in a place that doesn't seem very narrow I still can't salvage the table.

Metro: I tried your idea, but that only works on my lot and not the junkyard lot. What say you? I'd be fine with going into Edit Town and just sledgehammering them, which obviously means they'll generate no usuable or sellable furniture, but I obviously need your permission as I know using Edit Town is against the rules.

Same problem here, with only tables.  Pathing issue, I suppose, and they go the long way around.

As well as the phobic dining table, there are a couple of other items in the junkyard that your Sims just can't pick up because of the "blocked" path problem.  I too, am having the same problems with this.

There's a different table in there too now that can't be salvaged. My klepto can put a pick-up truck in his pocket, but he balks at rectangular-shaped tables.  ::)

I had that happen with a big sculptor that I couldn't get to but it was gone the next day so I just assumed that if you don't pick them up they dissappear. Is that not happening in your game?

Here is my list:
Julie- loves the outdoors, natural cook, neurotic, never nude, and snob     LTW Five Star Chef
Curtis- absent-minded, ambitious, clumsy, insane, and natural cook          LTW Jack of All Trades
Wendy- adventurous, angler, daredevil, over-emotional, and slob             LTW Great Explorer
Sarah- commitment issues, friendly, grumpy, slob, and snob                    LTW Living in the Lap of Luxury

Off to a late start but I am hopeful. 9 of the traits I have never played before and 2 maybe 3 of the LTWs! This should be interesting to say the least! I think Sarah has a very odd mix of traits.

No, they don't disappear, but keep adding up over time.

Stuff starts turning up in the parking lot and next to the little office/building in the right front corner, too.

I would like to give this one a shot, as things seem stabler for me since the last patch and I'm enjoying Ambitions quite a bit.

Let's see here, roll up some Sims...

Erica Diabolique:  Evil, Good Sense of Humor, Green Thumb (awesome start...), Insane (Oh goody a learning experience) and Loves the Outdoors a nice fit.  She seeks to be Emperor of Evil, good trick for the lady, we'll just pretend she wishes to be Empress of Evil, mwuahahhaha... er, we digress.  Now, for minions.

Gunther Diabolique, Erica's little brother and chief henchman:  Disciplined (Yay! a  new fav!), Green Thumb (must be a family thing), Mean Spirited, Perceptive, and Schmoozer.  He wants Physical Perfection, a good thing to want for the chief bad heavy.

Goodness, wasn't planning on having them all be in the same family but it just seems to be working out that way...

Julie Diabolique: Adventurous, Commitment Issues, Light Sleeper, Evil (see the family theme?) Workaholic who wants to be a Jack of All Trades, all new experiences for me in sims, except for Workaholic and Adventurous.

Aha, finally a sim who doesn't need to be in the family... named because of his traits we have -

PR Department:  Brave(he's gonna need this working for this family), Friendly, Heavy Sleeper, Neurotic (it's his job), with a Photographer's eye who wants to become a Star News Anchor.

It's gonna be a bumpy ride.  ;D

That's fine. Go ahead and delete them via Edit Town.

I solemnly affirm and aver that I will only use this power to delete the immovable tables in the junkyard. I will then do as you said for the moveObjects cheat (exiting and everything) in the hope that this will fix the problem. If it doesn't and tables start building up again, do you want me to just repeat what you okayed now or should I ask if (I hope it's "if"!) it occurs again before doing anything? May as well cover that base now.

New Challengers might want to consider other towns to play in, though I'd guess if you have S3 vanilla, the only other town is Riverview, which might have the same junkyard as SV. Something to think about, anyway.

I'll look for it. Dang. On the one hand I'm a bit glad I'm not the only one (I mean that in the best possible way!) with this problem, but on the other, it makes it difficult to play SV if you need the junkyard for Simoleans.

Yes, you've got quite a handful there with Sarah and those difficult LTWs. It'll be especially difficult when Sarah starts socializing with some of your other sims with that blend of traits. I don't think she'll get along well with insane or over-emotional, haha  :P . What relationships did you choose for them?

Also, am I the only one that thinks the Ambitious trait should have been save for the Ambitions expansion? This is just what makes sense in my brain.  ;D

:D You sound like a defendant in a courtroom.

When I was a teenager, my mom used to half-jokingly say I'd make a good lawyer. :D I was trying my bit to show I was serious, but I can't seem to help slipping a little joke in there sometimes.  ;)  Joke or not, I'm serious about not doing...whatever, while I have Edit Town running. Though I've barely used it before now anyway.

Yeah, rinse and repeat I guess if it happens again. (fingers crossed)

I'm resisting saying something about styling products.  :)  Ahem. I hope this fixes it. I'd hate to have to wait for a patch, particularly as only a couple of other people spoke up that they, too, had the problem. If that's an indication of its proliferation in the general Sims 3 playing population, they may never bother. Just as well you have to have Ambitions to be an inventor, since you then get a town with two decent sized junkyards.

Thanks for the prompt answer, too. Lucky to have you and the others be such helpful folk!

I'm sorry for the pointless question, but I was never aware that there were junkyards in the towns. Where are they??

The junkyards are a new lot that's placed in an Ambitions neighborhood.
