Well I am officially calling it now. I am exhausted. Thought that I would have had more time to play this weekend but last night I ended up babysitting my 2 nephews while my brother-in-law went out and my husband decided to go out too. So last night it was me and 8 kids! Mine are 8, 7, 5, 4, 3, and 1 and my nephews are 1 and 2!  :o Needless to say that doesn't give much Sim time and then since they stayed last night I watched them for an hour or 2 this morning and then I had to leave for my sister's babyshower so not much Sim time.  :( Anyways this is how I ended it. Week 11 Day 4 97 Vacation Days
Julie-316,648  Loves the Outdoors, Natural Cook, Neurotic, Never Nude, Snob
Curtis-327,691   Absent-Minded, Ambitious, Clumsy, Insane, Natural Cook
Sarah-331,437   Commitment Issues, Friendly, Grumpy, Slob, Snob
Wendy- 423,036   Adventurous, Angler, Daredevil, Over-Emotional, Slob
Totaling- 1,398,812
I may still finish just to see how I do. I haven't really decided yet as I am pretty anxious to get started on the other challenges and a Dynasty!

I'm finally done. I wish I had started earlier but I greatly underestimated how long this would take. I finished with only 48 days in Sunset Valley and 52 vacation days. My final score was 1,301,700.

I don't think we could call any score in this one pathetic (or any challenge really). We all do our best with how we play, some just have a few more good plans or ideas than others.

I have to resign on this challenge too, there is no way I could finished it on time, only 8 weeks done, it took me way too much time, but I did enjoy the challenge. And it inspire me to experiment with carter displey as well as to explore nectar recepies, so thank you on that.

since I see many result of not finished challenge, here are mine, after 55 day and 51 vacation day:

sim 1 / cant stand art, bookworm, natural cook, never nude, green thumb/ LTW Bottomless Nectar Cellar 124 218
sim 2 / evil, green thumb, athletic, easilly impressed, lucky / LTW Perfect garden 120 476
sim 3 / over emotional, insane, perfectionist, coward, athletic / LTW top sport career 129 269
sim 4 / insane, savvy sculptor, adventurous, genius, never nude / LTW Seasoned traveler 191 191

in total it would be 565 154
not good at all..

The event that I thought for sure would see the fewest submitted scores this year has turned out to be an enormous success and broke the participation record with 41 players submitting scores! Every one of you that stuck it out until the end deserves a big round of applause. It was a toughie, that's for sure.  :D

Most definitely. This thread as well as the strategy thread is now open to anyone who wishes reveal their tips.

1.  Keep mood high at all times to get that slow tick of happiness points.  It's a long challenge after all.  Probably accounted for 100k points per sim, but I haven't done any math, it's just a guess.
2.  Run all sims through multiple careers and all skills to force wishes to pop up.  Complete most wishes, no matter how small.
3.  Place items around the lot to force wishes to popup, like the trampoline, gnubb set, & time machine, especially ones catering to the sim's traits.  My 2 party animals had wishes pop up constantly to bounce on the trampoline.  Only 150 happiness points per, but still.
4.  Have plenty of money on hand to buy items & businesses when those wishes popped.   Once I bought one business, all 4 sims started getting a wish to own 3 or 5 businesses.
5.  Complete all LTW.  This was such a long challenge that any LTW should have been able to be completed.

That's really about it.  Sculpting had some big 4000 and 5000 point wishes later in the skill, as Metro noted in a separate thread.  Thanks for that tip!  So did the drinking of nectar as I found out.  My 2 sims that were party animals had wishes pop up to drink the stuff as soon as I collected some from adventures.  So, once I started making nectar myself, they got multiple wishes to drink nectar of a certain dollar amount.  Some were 3000 and 5000 a pop just like sculpting.

Final, pathetic as I warned you, score
Sally Vagary: 132,018
Steve Vagary: 190,192
Ken Chance: 153,982
Rochelle Chance: 155,297
Week 9, Day 6
Vacation Days: 9

I added up my total using the PC's calculator, but didn't get a chance to put it up last night. Total: 632,279

Here were their traits:
Rochelle Chance: Brave, Eco-Friendly, Lucky, Schmoozer, and Natural Cook  LTW: Celebrated Five Star Chef
Ken Chance: Athletic, Daredevil, Disciplined, Friendly, Klepto  LTW: Master Thief
Sally Vagary: Dislikes Children, Good Sense of Humor, Green Thumb, Heavy Sleeper, Crazy  LTW: The Perfect Garden
Steve Vagary: Angler, Party Animal, Savvy Sculptor, Snob, Virtuoso  LTW: Rock Star

What I learned from the traits I'd never played before (the new to me Traits are listed is in my starting Challenge post, page 42) and playing the Challenge itself:

Eco-Friendly and Natural Cook produce Organic Meals that may keep longer before spoiling (obviously I haven't had time to run any tests and may not)
Savvy Sculptor is an excellent trait if you intend your Sim to sculpt. That may seem like an obvious point, but....
I see no advantage to the Snob trait, unless you're dealing with the Easily Impressed, and you don't need it then, either
Even Sims who Dislike Children can come up with wanting to have a baby wishes (therapist, please!)
Saw no advantage to Heavy Sleeper
Brave Sims will beat the tar out of burglars (and you can get burgled even if a member of your household is in the Criminal career. Apparently we're back to 'no honor among thieves'.)
Crazy can can be amusing, but it can also setback romances and/or friendships if you don't watch your Sim carefully when they interact with others.
It's also good if you don't care what they wear when  :)

Anyone have a different result(s) than above? If it it's ancient history or in the Guide, please let me know where I can find this hallowed wisdom.  :)
One look at my score and you can see that even if I had any strategies, I wasn't pursuing them aggressively enough.  :-\

Edited after reading Metro's Snob info  ;D

I took care of it this morning.

A Snob trait is actually quite helpful for this event. Snobs are going to get more money and object wishes than non-Snobs. And as I just posted in the Hall of Fame entry...those objects wishes are golden. You buy something for a Snob like an expensive piece of art, then delete it, and they'll just fire off the wish again very soon. Obviously this trick works for non-Snobs too, but Snobs just get more of those types of wishes.

Hmm, I'm certainly willing to give it another chance with this in mind. Gotta get going, but will be back later to see what others have learned and read tips like Archer0s. By the way Archer0, those sound like good tips, and I was working a couple of my Sims into new skills, but I guess I should've had them quit their jobs so they could spend more time on them and register as self-employed.

The best scoring trait was Adventurous for me. I noticed just recently that my Adventurous Sim had a much higher score than the others. I have as well noticed that in others who have recently posted scores. I however didn't look at some of the older posted scores but I would love to hear opinions on that? Did anyone else think that too?

I did have an Adventurous Sim, and her LTW (Great Explorer) granted more happiness points than any other LTW. However, as overall traits go, I'd say my Ambitious Sim was the hands-down winner. That 15% boost to happiness points is hard to match.

Yes very true so how great would it have been to have an Ambitious Adventurer? I wonder did anyone have that combination?

My highest scoring sim had the Descendant of Da Vinci LTW. She had the savvy sculptor trait, as well as mooch, frugal and neurotic. All of these traits gave her little wishes here and there and her score was the highest of my four.

I played a lot of traits for the first time with this challenge including:
Hot headed, coward, slob, dramatic, neurotic, insane and no sense of humor.

I really did learn a lot from this challenge, especially since I picked up WA during it. It was fun despite how long it was, so thank you Metro! Keep the challenges coming! :)

I'd really love to read more tips on how people scored a million or more points. I know there's Real Life, but please consider those of us who did this as our first Challenge and got the lowest scores. :makes big, pleading puppy eyes:

I guess I just play so slow and don't really hurry on anything in the sims.  Everytime wishes dried up, I just kept plugging along, so I really didn't have to much strategy to begin with. I had alot of fun though, so it was a learning experience to say the least.
