Anti-Burglar and Anti-Simbot home
« on: June 20, 2010, 02:55:54 AM »
Worried That simbots may revolt and take over the world?

Sick and tired of burglars sneaking in and taking your hard-earned furnitures...?

Worry No more for there are ways to overcome this in steps!:

Problem A. Plant a lot of sprinklers which covers eachother's radius around your home, to slighty wet the simbots!

As they and burglars sneak through your front door, don't worry about alarms, just make a 'tomb' of trials they need to past to get to your 'residential' part of your home ?

Like a well they dive through, secret doors!, pushing stuff on slabs and fire/electric/anyother form of traps... The wells can short out those stupid simbots which you can reprogram them to be your eternal slave which guards your home! Your own form of 'Security'

Before you know it, Your home is anti-burglar/anti-simbot invasion ?

But you may wonder 'I don't want to go through obstacles to go in and out'

Well just set your back door to be locked so that only you and/or your homelot can go through... And just set many sprinklers incase of simbots. Don't worry about burglars, because they seem to only know how to go through front door!

There you have it! The perfect anti-whatchamacallit home!

Start right now!

And who knows? Maybe all those sims you were paranoid about were REALLY trying to get you!

(Warning: Firefighter may take longer to put out a fire)

I make many stories,
I make many adventures,
So you'll never know... Though I'm thinking of making a house so ridiculous that I border the line of insanity... Who knows...
Genius is like insanity, difference is... What society accept, gets called genius and what's not accepted is labelled as Insane

Dariu, does this really work?  I ask because I once thought I had a brilliant idea for not having to spend money on a burglar alarm:  every night, I moved the only outside door to an inside wall.  If the burglar can't get into the house, he can't take stuff, right?  Wrong.  The burglar came and vacuumed up stuff right through the walls from outside.  Now I always buy the alarm.

Look, Dariu, you've been specifically asked not to use chatspeak already. The word is "your." This isn't a shopping mall where you're texting to your best friend. Please communicate with full words. Thanks.

Dariu,

If you would built a whole dungeon to slow down burglars and/or simbots, wouldn't that mean that your sims also have to get past the obstacles to go into the residental part?

Having your sims walk 4 hours to get inside while you could easily buy a cheap burglar alarm, that's a spark of insanity...

I guess it might be interesting to try this, just to see what it would be like.  But I sure wouldn't want to play it for very long!   :D

I would like to just say, well done. It is refreshing to see correct grammar used in this day and age.
It is only again now, that it seems to be taught correctly in Australian schools. it is pretty hard for people like myself, who were not taught correctly. So I thank you.

I agree that the rules are the rules and Dariu should have paid more attention to spelling, but I was shocked by how vicious the moderators seemed to be in their comments about it. Having felt that myself when I've made a mistake and forgotten to spell something correctly, I am revolted by this public telling off. If you have to be so cruel, at least do it by private messaging? And it wouldn't hurt to be nice. And if you didn't mean it that way, then maybe you could read over what you said, because if you were talking to me, I would be quite hurt.

I was obviously firm in my own statements to Dariu. But vicious? And I did say "Thanks" at the end of my request as well.

The first part I would call vicious yes, or maybe harsh is a better word for it? Thanks at the end helps a little. But really it sounded like you were a teacher telling off a naughty kid. I'd rather we give each other the benefit of the doubt and treat each other like adults.

Hmm, I think we all are a little quick here.
I'm not the moderator of moderators, but my personal advice to you, Dariu, would be not to take it personally, even if it could be hard. We don't mean to hold an iron grip over this place. Just make an attempt to the best of your capacity to hold a grammatically correct language and you're OK in my book. A slip-up doesn't kill anyone, but to be told to when that happens doesn't either. Then it's all about trying to think about it in the future. :)

What I'm also going after here is that we're seriously off-topic here. :o I know I'm speaking to administrators here as well, but maybe we should continue on talking about protecting our homes with intricate traps instead.

But seriously I don't see the point why "u" and "ur" is so important to fix, I mean to be honest its such an international thing that practically everyone knows, heck, in many games even brazillians that don't know english can still use 'money plz" and "u help me plz" ... Soo yeah, but I mean the "u" and "ur" is something that shouldn't be that serious of an offence, I mean sexual comments and such is much more of an issue in forums rather than "chat talk"... And I mean, even I myself were not born in australia, I moved and learned english from scratch and I took the effort to learn it...

Your points are well taken. However, we have our rules and we're asking all players to do their best to follow them. You can continue the grammar discussion here. But, let's get back to the thread topic.

Well I agree,

Well as many of you wonder how to get through without the hassle, make a back enterance with the door locked for only you and your family to be able to go through, also make it be completely filled with alarms and sprinklers just in case.

I wonder what you mean about the sprinklers Dariu; simbots can move through that area they water, it's just that they can't play in the sprinkler.

That's quite far-fetched Dariu; if Simbots were taking over the world, they wouldn't stop to simply play with some sprinklers...

I just thought of something: a pool. A human can without problem swim through maybe a tile of a pool, but a simbot will immediately get a short out! ;D

Yeah, I tested it just recently; they're safe.

It's the same reason as why EA didn't make mummies to instantly die from fire traps: If they did, it would be impossible to take these new life states out for adventures!

But some of the mummies I've encountered in tombs did die instantly from firetraps. I guess only the controllable mummies are immune?

I made a basement to the house of my adventure mummy (and he never died of fire traps in my or foreign tombs) which was actually an intricate tomb system. One room was a mummy trap, but if the sim would stand in front of one of those Anubis statues, the whole room except that very spot was discharged in an enormous fire cloud. The uncontrolled mummy survived that and I scrapped the idea. :-\

Would've been fun if it worked though.
