You can find out by trying to gift them it and the Store will tell you if they already have it.

I don't think this is the case. I've gifted things that the recipient already had and it didn't tell me. And the reverse just happened where someone gifted me something I already had and it didn't it didn't tell him I already have it.

The only thing you can do is look at their wish list. If it's got a blue thing by it, it's been bought. Otherwise the button is green and says buy now or something.

That's odd. I tried to gift someone something really small a while ago and it said 'This user already owns this item'. That was a while ago now though so I guess they may have changed it.

That would be a good deal if I didn't already have half of that.The only thing I don't have off that is the Ultra Lounge Stuff and the Critter Comforts and I have one or two items from other sets in there as well I think.

Honestly, I think they should be more careful when making changes to their site, when they deal with real money... I've been reading the official forums and there seems to be a lot of problems with the store right now! Some people have been charged twice or even 4 times when purchasing items, or are unable to buy points at all (like me). I so far have 5 free mystery bag items after trying to purchase points, but the points never show up. They haven't charged me any money but the freebies keep coming.
Sorry for the off topic talk but I think it's good to warn people as everyone is buying simpoints and grabbing these deals... Make sure to check you won't end up paying twice in simpoints.

I just bought sim points (through PayPal) without any problems so they may of fixed the issue they were having

Nope, it doesn't work... also it claims my credit card information is not valid (it IS, I've used this card online for ages). I won't try any more, it seems so unstable.

But that 2010 compilation deal! WAHHH, it's so frustrating to miss that! Well it's not that I didn't try to give my money to EA, I just have to accept they don't want it.
