I found a cheat not being listed here
« on: July 31, 2010, 04:11:59 AM »
Hi everyone, I found a cheat for the Sims 3 which is not being listed on Carl's Sims 3 guide website. The cheat code is "freerealestate". Basically, you have to type in testingcheatsenabled true first before making this cheat work.

This cheat gives you free lots. That means you can use a single Sim to purchase a lot which is over his/her budget. Hope this helps! Cheers!

 :)

By the way, I don't wish to start a new thread but I have a newbie question to ask. What does CAS stand for in Sims 3?

Welcome to the forum!  I understand not wanting to start another new thread and will answer your question anyway.  In the future, either include something about the second question/item, or start another thread.  It makes it much easier for people to find the things they are looking to have answered if they are properly labeled.  :)  Anyway, CAS stands for Create A Sim.

Thanks for the reply. So why isn't the cheat freerealestate not being included in the guide?

Thanks!

So why isn't the cheat freerealestate not being included in the guide?

Because it wasn't known or was overlooked.  I tried to test it just now and wasn't able to make it work, but it was with an existing family with a lot of money.  I tried to get one of them to move to a new house free.  Anyway, I'm moving this to the Guide Corrections Board and will make sure Carl sees it.  Thanks for posting about it.

Well before you enter a town, you have to use the "testingcheatsenabled true". Then when you are in town, type in "freerealestate, spacebar and enter" Then it will work! Hope this helps! In this way, even a single Sim in a household can afford to buy the most expensive house or lot!

Then do you just use your cell phone to move like any other time?  Except the houses will be $0 instead of whatever their prices are?

Well, I have not tested this method yet but when I have the time, I will tell you the results. By the way, the above mention cheat actually works when you move your family to an expensive lot for the first time in edit town.

I've been able to use it without testingcheatsenabled.

I'll happily add it, but anyone know if it's specific to an expansion or is available in Vanilla?I don't want to steer people wrong on this.

It was on Sims Wiki, but I don't know for sure if it's related to an expansion.  It almost seems to me that all cheats through the console would be for vanilla.

I have looked in a few areas for this cheat but have yet to see it listed.  So I am risking embarassment once more in the hopes it will help others enjoy the game.

Firefighters and Ghost Hunters Cheat:

As usual, on main menu you must turn on testingcheatsenabled true.

Then you simply start your game.  Go to any house that is not an established NPC building (example: Firehouse, Townhall). Hold down your shift key and and left click.  You will then get the option to spawn various types of jobs.

Your permitted job spawning options change as you increase your firefighting skills.  When you first join you only get the option small housefire but this changes as you are more experienced.  I have seen small housefire, large housefire and earthquakes.

If this has been mentioned then I apologize for my redundancy.

Quick point on the ghosthunting side.  I imagine the types will also change for experienced ghosthunters but I have yet to explore this.  When I discovered the trick I was already a very experienced ghosthunter who got bored waiting for the ghosts to catch.

New information for you:

At level 4 of the firefighting career I was given the option of gnome invasion and also saw large fires.

NPC buildings do spawn jobs as long as you are focused on the correct buildings.  Hospital and Citizens Warehouse are the only ones I currently see.

As far as I know there isn't any cheat related to a expansion, right? I'm only mostly using some building related cheats myself, but I thought that was it.

I think we sometimes believe they are because the past two expansions have brought with them pretty big patches that added little bits here and there, and those of us who upgrade have little idea what's going on in Vanilla. I'll pay better attention to patch notes involving cheats in the future.

The difference between the vanilla (really? vanilla?) and the Ambitions is you do not get to spawn a specific type of event where as with the introduction of the new Ambition careers you can spawn a specific type of event for the careers where it is more hands on.

I consider this a definite difference between Vanilla and not vanilla.  Now if I can only find a way to spawn those falling meteors.  They might be rare but they sure are a good laugh.

I didn't coin the phrase, someone with some imagination I suppose. Now I guess I've got a Neapolitan blend of vanilla, strawberry, and chocolate. :P

Just to be clear, the freerealestate cheat only works from the edit town screen. Hope that clears things up.
