I'll take feedback too, although I already know that if I were to do it again I'd make the first floor smaller and use the extra funds to add more decor.

And since no one else has been brave enough to comment on other's, I'll be the first!

Twinmum- I really liked your house a lot.  The carport is really a nice feature, and the bonus room on the side for future laundry use was a nice touch.  It's a great starter house for Sims that's for sure!  The only thing that I thought could be better was more of a modern design.  There are some great websites out there about different architectural styles.  Looking at some other houses that have a specific design might give you some ideas to make the house a better fit, architecturally speaking.  On a quick google search I found this site that might be helpful: http://architecture.about.com/od/housestyles/tp/housestylesindex.htm  This next month is a "country style" house, a quick search and I'm sure you'll find some ideas. :)

LenaLJ & Tommy, I pretty much gave my thoughts in the contest results summary.

I have been waiting to see if you would like feedback Aria. I loved the loft style that you used. Very creative. I just wanted to tell you that. It was certainly one of my favorites just because of the loft style. I never would have thought to do anything like that. And I to have a hard time with modern and country and that kind of thing. Honestly I don't think that I would really know the difference. I just like what I like lol.

I will take feedback!  :)

Twinmum - I liked the look of your house, it looked quite sweet.  :)

TommyT - I liked the modern theme and your use of recolouring the furniture to not all Violet like a lot (including me) did.  ;)

Lena - Yours looked just right for the Client and it had a small cozy home look about it.  :)

I 100% agree with this!  Violet is such a bright color, and can be overwhelming, Tommy did a great job of using it as an accent.

Hey everyone.

Thanks for the contest Ariagirl, it was fun.

I will take comments too if anyone has some.

Twinmum: I love the carport idea. What a way to create an entrance without spending a lot of money. It's brilliant! The space for a future laundry was a great addition. Also, there is lots fo room in the main living space for a couple career skill building piece once Sarah could afford them.

LenaLJ: I personally love Victorian style homes and, though that style is more traditional, you modernized it for Sarah with the use of furniture and colour. Very cute.

TommyT: Congratulations on the win! Again the use of a carport was ingenious - more house for minimal Simoleons. I love the wood accenting on the walls in the kitchen. May I point out the lack of a sink in the bathroom. Though it's not necessary for Sims, I can't imagine myself buying a home without a bathroom sink.  ;)  Just the excuse Sarah needs to go shopping!

AriaGirl: Love the loft idea. The view from the loft bedroom will be fantastic no matter where the lot is placed in town. I think you use of flower and flowery-type wallpaper and upholstery was beautiful and subtle, a good spin on a more traditional look.

Samoht: The architecture of your house is very unique with the rock garden in the back being the focal point. The garden in beautiful, by the way. The mirror above the kitchen sink is an interesting idea, it never would have occurred to me to place a mirror there. For me the amount of Violet was a little over-whelming but it is a bright, rich colour. Your use of the space with furniture placement leaves lots of room to move around. Very well done.

Til next time,
Lilygirl

Y'all can give feedback on mine, too.

I just want to point out that, yes, violet is bright and overwhelming.  But it's the color that was designated in the contest as being Sarah's favorite color.  I don't think anyone should feel bad for using violet in the house.  I suspect that if I had published the hex codes for colors sooner, TommyT might have also used it.  :D

I don't think there's anything wrong with using violet, but I agree that I was attracted to Tommy's house because he used it minimally, in a lovely way. It can be too much of one colour if it is using all over the house. My favourite colour is purple, but I wouldn't want a house made entirely of purple. And I think it is clever to not go for the predictable purple everywhere, but use it to accent rooms, not overwhelm.

I'll get around to commenting on everyone else sooner or later. :)

Critque away, my friends!  I'd love to hear your comments so I can learn how to do better.  Violet was a hard color to deal with but Pam's hex codes will make things easier in the future.  I have a hard time breaking away from pastel colors, or black/white/red combos.  (My favorite for modern is black/red/white)  I have a monochromatic mindset for pretty much everything.

I'll comment on the other houses in a bit but right now it's lunch time!  Just suffice it to say it was the hardest choices I ever had to make.  I loved, and downloaded, them all.
What?  Grannies can't play games?

I liked Pam's house a lot 'cause the furniture and the light feel appealed to me, especially the bedroom with ivy walls.

The loft idea was very interesting, but had a setback in competition - the money spent on creating space made it look empty inside. Carport idea seemed to profit more.

I'm not really a fan of black furniture so I wasn't sold on TommyT's winning cottage, and yet I have to appreciate how elegantly he placed it.

LenaLJ created the cutest little house I've seen in a while.

That being said I'm glad to have voted, and on the whole the contest entries' creators took me aback with their creativity, and comparison with original houses makes me think they should hire someone from here to build them for the next expansion. Possibly someone from this forum so we'd get the latest scoop ;)

@ Samoht: Sorry, I didn't mean to offend with my comment regarding the use of violet throughout the house you built. I apologize. Given the fact that Sims actually experience increased moods while around their favorite colours, Sarah would have been very happy at home in your house.

I apologize to everyone else as well. I guess my comment was a little off. Sorry.

Some nice homes, better than what I could do. Um...the only thing I could see that most missed was a telescope...which is really nice to have if you're in medical. I think I only saw one home with a telescope...that was thoughtful of you.

OKay, this might possibly be a bit much >_<. Mods, lemme know if I went overboard. Reviewees, please feel free to PM me if you have any questions or want expansion on anything.

Everyone had good and bad things about their designs. I really found it interesting exploring the different designs, and I know i spotted some tricks I hope to put in my toolbag.

And can I just say, the Hydrangea producers had better be on the ball, because once these houses start rolling out, they're going to have to provide a lot of them ;-]

TwinMum

 - Great exterior, interesting roofline, loved the carport.  Landscaping minimal, but fits the house.  Lots of room for expansion.
 - I think a nice tall tree, like one of the aspens, would have broken up the roof and given a little more exterior interest.
 - The decorating you did is great. the bedroom and bathroom are nice on their own, and the two schemes complement each other.
 - The greatroom feels unfinished to me.  Compared to the other two rooms, it's all shades of tan, except for the countertops.  My suggestion would be to go with a smooth wall texture, instead of the mottled wall paper you have now.  Crisp white for either the cabinets and appliances, or the walls and appliances. Go with a darker, but still solid, color for the other, like a silver or light grey. That way you've got a nice neutral background to work some other colors in for the rest of the room.

Summary: A unique house design, lots of room for expansion on the lot. Design felt a smidge unfinished.

Joria:

 - Possibly a bit over board on the hydrangeas (;-]) but the flower beds and trees were well placed.  Loved the bench and the darker flowers lining the path to the front door.
 - You used different patterns and colors VERY effectively. While there was definitely a color theme, it did not feel monochromatic. The different stripe patterns carried the theme through the house, but offered variety. Very well done
 - I love where you used the red window frame, and how they popped against the white walls. I think you could have carried that through to the door frames and the smaller windows as well. This would have carried the theme through the house, and the bright red would have been a nice color contrast against the violets and whites.
 - Nice use of the spraypaint tool to take the landscaping all the way to the edges of the lot
 - The interior layout was a bit odd, mainly having the bonus room through the bedroom. I think if you just flipped that back wing end for end it would make a bit more sense, floor plan wise.

Summary: Awesome interior design choices. Great use of textures to create variety with limited palate. Floorplan felt awkward.

TommyT

 - Great exterior silhouette, good use of trees to break up the blocky lines, landscaping used limited choices, but arranged to provide variety.
 - The spraypaint tool for the little dirt spots under the rocks was awesome.
 - Design wise, you used the dark violet in a few key pieces, including some of the bookshelves which was an awesome touch. You did a great open floor plan, and it was very nicely arranged.
 - It was a little dark in tone for what I thought Sarah would be looking for, but i think it's still an awesome job.

Summary: Modern inside and out. Awesome landscaping.  Great layout.  Cohesive design.   Could have used a little more brightness. One of my top three.

AriaGirl:

 - Bedroom: The green and purple complement each other and pop nicely. The wood from the bed and the dresser disappear into the wood floor. Suggestion: Light Grey or green carpet to let the wood stand out and still compliment the other colors.
 - Bathroom: The busy tile and the smooth peach wall are a very nice compliment. Keeping the furnishings white lets them stand out.
 - Living Cluster: The couches, wicker rug and the walls all complement each other nicely. Unfortunately, they're not placed so you can see that contrast. Suggestion: Set the couches touching the rug, maybe at an angle, and put the couches against the wall for the color to play.
 - I think you said it yourself, this would have benefited from a smaller footprint.

Lofts are hard to do in the Sims. We're stuck with some limitations of the game engine like the height of ceiling needed for overhead when you're doing a slant like that. A couple trees would help break up the silhouette of the house.

Summary: Lofts are hard. Great bathroom. Some really nice design choices. A little smaller floor plan would tighten things up, and put a little more money in the budget to finish it off.

Pam:

 - Great exterior. The roof-line & silhouette are very unique and interesting to look at. Fun touch with recoloring the mailbox & trashcan.
 - I'd like to see some of the flowers moved from the front to the back of the house.
 - Nice open floor plan. There is room to grow, but it doesn't feel either empty, nor cluttered.
 - The pattern in the bedroom, the blue couch against the half-wall in the living room, the wall paper in the bathroom were nice, bold choices.
 - The blue of the couch and the kitchen counters (nice job, i hate designing counters the most) were nice stand outs.
 - Me being retentive: the couch looked very plasticy close up, as did the bedspread in the screenshot (I didn't have that actual bed in game, so it didn't carry over.) Plastic furniture reminds me of my grandmother's house, not a hip trendy single.
 - I think a little more variation in color and floor texture would have been nice, but otherwise i think you did a fantastic job.

Summary: unique silhouette, great floor plan, nice use of colors.

Samhot04:

 - The exterior has this funky Oriental Gate vibe that grew on me.
 - Nice use of landscaping up front. The placements are similar, but not symmetrical, which sets off the house nicely.
 - I very much like the atrium at the center of the house. I would have liked a door onto the atrium, and perhaps a little more variety of flowers than just the hydrangea.
 - I loved the ivy at the entry way. That was very clever and a nice touch.
 - The bathroom is a nice contrast to the rest of the house with the different floor.

Suggestions: flip flop the kitchen/living wing. Put the kitchen "L" in the corner where the couch and the fern thing are now, so you're not "losing" that corner between the fridge and counter.
 - Make the counter tops white (or a lighter violet) to make them stand out from the wall.
 - Re color the fridge a solid color like white or black or the burgundy of the stove. The reflective silver picked up the wall color and it just blended in.

Summary: really unique roofline and layout. Some very clever touches. The violet walls became the neutral color, need a bit more contrast to it in some areas.

LenaLJ:

 - Exterior more "cottage" than modern, it's nicely done w/ much exterior character.
 - The water feature is nice, as are the trees, but they're uniform and the trees are far back from the house. Since you had an extra $1500 to play with, I think we could have seen a few different trees, maybe a larger black gum among the smaller ones.
 - Cottage outside, creamy modern interior. Despite the traditional lines of the exterior, the interior pops modern and relaxing.
 - you picked three different, but complimentary colors that fit the theme and played well off of each other.
 - The kitchen is the only place here that I really stick on for some reason, and I can't put my finger on why. It may be as simple as a different, darker flooring choice to separate that area from the rest of the great room.

Suggestion: You had enough extra funds I would have upgraded the stove and fridge to the next level. Also: Fire alarm.

Summary: Cute Cottage outside, creamy modern interior. Great back patio. Kitchen needs something, not sure what. One of my top three.

LillyGirl:

 - Traditional cottage, nice, neat and trim.
 - The extra gables in the front and the overhangs in the back and side add visual interest and keep it from being boxy.
 - The entryway adds great visual interest and a focal point.
 - I think the placement of the mailbox and the trash can (cleverly matching the house colors) helps add just a little visual imbalance to the otherwise symmetrical front, which is a good thing.
 - Within the budget you have made a very large house, and I think managed to use the space quite well.   However, the more traditional floor plan keeps this from feeling really "modern" to me.

You did some really cool things with design:
 - Kitchen: the tile floor that alternates the countertop and the cabinet color
 - Bedroom: The bottom half of the wall paper had a little sheen, cause the two colors were close to each other. Also, it was a nice contrast that let the bed and dresser stand out from the wall instead of blending in.
 - Bathroom: I can NEVER match the wall tile with the floor tile. Your solution of having the solid color on the lower half of the wall was enough separation that the two tiles didn't jar the eye. That's a very cool trick I need to remember.

Solution: Cute exterior. Floorplan feels not-modern.

A couple to start with, I was merrily typing away here when I realised that's it's almost time to pick kids up from school, so I'll post what I have done and do the rest later.

First up thanks for the comments on my house. I know I failed on the modern side of things. I really do struggle breaking away from traditional style buildings. Plus I’ll admit, I am no interior designer.
On to the other houses. I downloaded every one of them and played my build test sim in each one to get a good look at them all - does anyone else find themselves trying to rotate pictures in the forum to get a different view lol

Joria: I was a little overwhelmed by the colour, but that's just me, I like a little variation. That being said though, I have to ask, do sims get any positive moodlets for seeing their favourite colour? As for the layout, the only thing I'm not fond of, and again it's a personal thing, is going through the bedroom to get to another room. I know people who do live in a house like that and I really wonder how lol. One other thing, I loved those windows at the front, they made it so light, but I would have liked to see another window, even just a smaller one, up on that side wall in the kitchen area.

TommyT: What can I say? As soon as I saw that house, I knew just how bad I failed modern. Although I loved your choice of furnishings and colour, I'm not a big fan of open spaces where everything happens in the one room. I guess it's fine for a single sim (and lord knows I've had sims live like it myself till they could afford the walls) but it's not something I would choose for the long term. I did have pathing issues in the bathroom. The toilet had to be moved along half a tile to allow access to the tub.

AriaGirl77: I do love the whole idea of lofts and it was a nice choice, but as has been said the cost to do it obviously impacted on the furnishing budget. A smaller area overall might have been a better choice, maybe try placing the bedroom over the bathroom  and reducing the length by about a third.  I did find a few things that could have been improved on.  Some are just aesthetic but that’s the whole point of feedback.  I noticed in the bathroom, the plant out the front was bleeding through the wall over the toilet. When you place shrubs and trees, have a quick look inside any walls they are up against and maybe move them out a fraction or sometimes rotating them will do the trick. Also in the bathroom, you had the toilet too close to the shower, causing pathing problems. This was easy to fix though by moving the toilet along. The kitchen, I thought needed defining, maybe an island counter to separate it from the rest of the room or a divider or planter. Still in the kitchen, I know sims can work in the corner where two counters join, but I think it could have done with an extra bit of counter space.

Finally got time to do the rest of the houses.
Just a note, I hope nobody thinks I'm being picky commenting on  plants bleeding through walls and showers with pathing problems. They are just things I notice, but they are not things I took into consideration when I voted.

Pam: I thought this was a lovely house, it looked interesting from the road. I really liked the bedroom decor with the greenery on the walls and the bed on an angle. One thing though, again there were issues with the shower. It was actually turned so the entry was up against a wall!

Samoht04: I liked the layout of your house, especially the little courtyard in the middle, however I think a window or two on the front wouldn’t have gone astray. I think the plain walls in one colour throughout was just a little too much, maybe different designs for the different rooms or a feature wall of a different colour in the main area. Also there was some bleeding of plants into the living area.

LenaLJ: Although it ìsn’t a modern house I think this is a wonderful little cottage. I loved the colours throughout and I thought adding the stools to utilise the benches as work areas and eating surface was quite a good idea.

caliban: I liked the design of this house, thought it quite unique although and I love the walkway up to the front door. The only flaw with the design for me was the hallway to the bedroom which I thought was very claustrophobic.

lilygirl: I love the exterior of this house with the extra detail on the roof. I did think however that the glass panels near the front door looked slightly out of place.  One thing I really liked inside was the square hallway area leading to the bedroom and bathroom.

@Pam - thanks! I was worried it was a little overboard ;-]

@Twinmum - yeah, I don't really care for 1-space wide hallways. I tried to make it short, and provided the alternate pathing through the bathroom, which is an inelegant solution, but works.

I'm a little sad that I've revisited a little too late to ask for feedback/critique - especially as the feedback has been so good.

I'm hoping that I've learned a little from studying the other entrants' houses and the reviews that may help in the next house - it was great to see the varied results from the same brief.

Caliban your critique was superb!  Really gave me more insight than what I got just by quickly looking at the photos of each house.  Next time around I think I will download and play each home to get a much better idea of what I like and don't like.

In my house, I had a really hard time with both the dollar amount and the color scheme.  I'm so used to building upper middle class 2/3 br houses or bigger it was quite a stretch for me to build my first starter home.  Violet is one of my least favorite colors to use ever, anywhere.  Personal preference.  My houses usually feature a pink/peach/white theme with a few brighter colors here and there or soft blue or green and definitely ultra modern black/white/red/grey.  I tend to monotones.

The bonus room off to the bedroom is meant to be just that.  A bonus area that our Sim could use as a future nursery, (no need for access to public rooms), a quiet place to study or work away from public spaces, or knock out that wall and make a huge br.  I could have just left it off entirely, and considered doing that, but I wanted our friend to have room for that first baby or an office that would be away from a space for cooking, friends, and so on.  I left it on because otherwise the house was just another rectangle.  I guess I fell in love with bonus rooms when we went house hunting and my favorite house, (which we could not afford), had two of them off two bedrooms.

Now, looking at the houses:

Twinmum:  I love the carport idea and your house is......well....CUTE!  It actually reminds me of the starter home my aunt and uncle had.  Small, but compact.  I am not terribly fond of the oarsman columns.  I personally would have chosen the front porch column.  The oarsman shape would be better if EA had made it a total straight cube instead of a flat pillar, but I could see what you were getting at.  As a housewife I would have had fits if my laundry room was across the breeze way!  So I considered it a garden shed instead.  A good place to put my lawn mower and bicycle.  It had too much of a feel of an apartment rather than a house for me, but that is hard to get away from when you are building small.  I think a bit more landscaping, even with terrain paint, would have gone a long way for this home.  I wanted to see more flowers but you covered that with the window box windows.  Loved that.

TommyT:  what can I say?  You are definitely the master of modern.  I truly dislike using wood paneling in a home but you somehow made it work and made it look interesting instead of 60's flower power.  The colors were a bit dark for me, a bit more masculine than I think our heroine would have chosen.  I loved the layout for a single guy, but my personal belief is privacy in the bedroom is a must.  It still looked really wonderful and young and vibrant feeling, but not sure our up and coming professional would have wanted her bedroom in public view.  The other thing I'm not thrilled with in any home is a kitchen with a straight line cooking station.  It is much more difficult to quickly and efficiently make a home meal, (I know it's different in a restaurant), if all the appliances are in a row.  My first impression of seeing the house was, "OMG I want to live here!"  I absolutely adored the front of the house!  The windows inviting you in, the landscaping laid out so beautifully, even the car port invited you to go back and look around some more.  If I was house hunting I would buy this house.  Even now, looking at it again and trying to critique, my gut feeling is, "I want it!"  You were in my top three, needless to say.

Ariagirl:  I didn't play test the house so any pathing problems are unknown to me.  This is true for all the houses.  I went strictly by the pictures and how the house made me feel, as if I was a first time home buyer on a budget.  I LOVED the way the windows face the flower paths of the park!! It brings the garden right into the home and didn't cost you all that gardening expense.  The windows made it light, open, cheery and the total design is so modern Tommy may have to give up his crown.  lol  I personally love the loft and the openess and minimalist approach.  I tend to clutter, so really appreciate when someone sees the open spaces as part of design and not just something that needs to be filled, (the way I do).  Your loft managed to make the bedroom area personal and private, yet part of what was going on below.  Like Tommy's house, I would want to buy this but my decision would be based on, "a lot more I could do with this once I have the cash", which is not a bad thing at all.

Pam:  color perfection and can I please have that bedroom?  It's the first time I've actually liked that color!  I love the use of the greenery indoors and definitely am going to borrow that idea in the future.  I love the way you laid out the living area and the use of the screen.  I am hopeless when it comes to things like that.  Love the lamps too.  If I had to not like anything it would be the color/siding of the outside.  Everything inside is perfect and I loved the mailbox idea.  I can't even be picky on this house, Pam.  Well done!

samoh:  I am playing your house!  I loved the atrium, (I'm adding a fountain), and if it wasn't for the color violet it would be my dream house. (Not your fault, it was what we all had to use)  Having said that, in the one I'm playing the walls are now white! lol  I waiver back and forth over the lack of windows in the front of the house.  On the one hand I like the idea of a totally private house where all the action and light comes from the rear that can be enclosed and made completely private.  Run around in your undies if you wish in a house like this, no one on the sidewalk in front will see!  I also like the way it can easily be extended giving a bit more room to the existing rooms.  The landscaping is well done and feels good.  Going on gut level only, I really loved this house.  (Can you all see?  I need at least a dozen houses to live in. Maybe that's why I play Sims)

Ok, my fingers are getting sore and you are all probably getting bored.  Gheez, yours will be next time I come on as well as the ones I left out.

Bottom line is, I didn't hate any of these houses.  I loved them all and the voting was the hardest thing I've done in awhile.
What?  Grannies can't play games?

Gheez:

 - the foyer was a neat idea, and something i don't think anyone else did
 - the blend of the (free!) spraypaint tool into the patio tiles was well done
 - The zig-zag hallway grew on me, especially with the placement of the doors.
 - The interior windows were a very cool, modern touch. (but i suspect they ate up a bit of your budget)
 - I liked that you carried the same floral pattern through the house, the accent wall in the bedroom,  even on the towels in the bathroom.
 - I thought the bathroom was very well done, with the white fixtures against the darker splash. I think you could have taken one of the darker violets from the wall and done the floor (keeping it solid) to make them pop a bit more.
 - The kitchen feels cramped. I believe i dropped a sim in and tested that they could get into that chair by the fridge, but the space just feels small, especially in contrast to the space in the bedroom and living room. The living room feels spacious and spread out, and the kitchen looks tiny by comparison.
I think if you put the sink on the opposite counter, put the fridge where the sink is now, and get rid of the extra counter, it would make it feel a little more open and still be workable

 - The exterior needs some trees to break up the boxy shape of the house. Again, I like aspens with this type of design, and they will draw the eye up.
 - There are exactly two objects in this house not on right angles: the chair in the bedroom and the round kitchen table. I would pull the chair out of the bedroom and add it to the sitting area in the living room. Put almost everything in living room on 45 degree angles. This will fill up the space a bit more, and offer some more visual interest. Add a round or oval rug.
This may give you room in the bedroom to put the bed on an angle as well.
 - While the colors you used had a nice contrast at night, in the day time they just washed out. I think you could try putting a darker violet on the carpet, maybe closer to what you have on the doors. Then go crisp white with the wood on all the furniture. You may need to go a shade or two darker on the undecorated walls.
You could also play with the zigzag, and take each section of the hallway a bit darker.

Summary: A fun and interesting floor plan, cohesive use of elements (wood, patterns) through the space, eye needs more to catch on (color variation/furniture layout) to break up the boxy-ness.

CurleyBennet:

 - exterior silhouette is broken out of the "box" by trees, the stairs and the railing giving the illusion that half of the roof is higher.
 - nice arrangements of a narrow range of plants add interest.
 - I've mentioned this elsewhere, but I love the use of the spraypaint ground tools. It's a great (free!) way to bump up the landscaping, and several folks made very good use of it.
 - you recolored the fridge to match both the cabinets and the walls. I think it's easy to forget little details like that, and i thought it was a cool touch.
 - the interior is small (possibly the smallest of the submissions) but it has all the items requested, in a nice layout that uses the space efficiently.
 - the design on the floor is a cool touch, and helps delineate the different areas of the home.
 - I can never figure out what to do with cabinets. I loved that you carried the floor right up onto the counter tops.
 - The bathroom is the one room that doesn't work. I wonder if white fixtures would have corrected that. Right now it's kind of like a grey hole that the fixtures get lost in. (it looks lighter in the screenshot you posted than I recall it being when i was exploring the house in game)
 - Even with only using like 4 colors, and 3 of them essentially neutrals, the interior still has some nice contrast and pop. I do think it is a little dark, over all.

Summary: Small foot print, big pop. Great use of small space. A little dark, color wise. This was one of my top three.

@Joria, you're welcome! Thanks for taking the time to explain some of your design choices. The bonus room makes a bit more sense now. : ]
Please don't go. The Drones need you. They look up to you.

Caliban, thanks for your input. I never seem to be able to get my colour schemes correct, and thanks for your suggestions for the bathroom. I might consider this points more when I build my next house.

Last two  :)

curlybennet: As I said before, I'm not a fan of one room units/houses and I felt that this one was a little small. I would have preferred to do without a few decorator items and gone for slightly bigger. While I liked the colour, a bit of variation would have been nice, even if it was just in the bathroom. An extra bench in the kitchen too, would have been nice. I do love the ingenious skylights on the roof. I remember when I first saw the photos, I had to download the house straight away to see how you did it.

Gheeze: I quite liked this little house. The entry was a nice touch, however, I think it could have come forward 1 tile space to give just a little more room to the kitchen/dining area yet still retain the stepped back front door. The kitchen itself was a nice size (for a small house), but I thought the entry to it with the fridge and table was just a little tight.

I must say, I have enjoyed this contest and loved playing in all these houses. While some of them had features that I would not normally build myself, they will all remain in my game to be played because I don't 'not like' any of them.

Gheez and Curlybennet, I came in planning to add my words to your submissions, but after reading Caliban's well thought out and presented critique there is really nothing more to say except, WELL DONE!  Your houses were wonderful and like all the rest, now reside happily in my stash of usable starter homes.

Caliban, how do you manage to find just the right words every time?  Wow.  I just might impose on you and ask you to check out some of the houses I make so I can improve them.
