Every Lifetime Goal
« on: August 08, 2010, 12:28:43 AM »
Meet the Anderson family. We join them 10 weeks, 3 days into the game. Rather late, but it's at this point that they've been given a purpose: complete every lifetime goal in sims 3. (note: I'll have pictures soon, I want to just write it for now.)

Meet Aaron.
Traits:
-Brave
-Family-oriented
-Party animal
-Charismatic
-Athletic
He's already achieved his lifetime goal: a sports legend.

Meet Quinn.
Traits:
-Good
-Charismatic
-Frugal
-Lucky
-Ambitious
She's currently at career level 9/10, hoping to become the leader of the free world.

Meet River.
Traits:
-Virtuoso
-Neat
-Good
-Perfectionist
-Artistic
While she's unemployed, being maxed out on guitar and level 7/10 in painting is putting her well on her way to being a master of the arts.
As a default sim, most of you probably already know her.

Meet Sean.
Traits:
-Evil
-Genius
-Computer wiz
-Athletic
-Charismatic
He's at level 8/10 the criminal career, evil branch, close to becoming the overlord of evil.

Meet Jayne.
Traits:
-Brave
-Workaholic
-Daredevil
-Athletic
-Ambitious
At level 9/10 of the law enforcement career, special agent branch, clashing with her brother, almost an international super spy.
I had already achieved this goal, but due to an unfortunate mishap with my laptop cord, my battery died and I lost my progress, including three career levels, a marriage, and a birth.

Meet Genevieve.
Traits:
-Brave
-Athletic
-Party animal
-Ambitious
Her lifetime goal isn't set in stone yet, but she dreams of becoming an astronaut.
After I got the ambitions expansion pack, she suddenly found firefighting to be much more appealing.

Meet Alison.
Traits:
-Genius
-Bookworm
-Friendly
Even though she doesn't know it yet, at some point she'll join the medical career to become a world-reknowned surgeon.

Meet Miranda.
Traits:
-Artistic
-Bookworm
-Friendly
With a passion for writing, someday she hopes to become a star news anchor.

And now for a brief family history, explaining relationships.
When the family first began, there was Quinn Benette and Aaron Anderson. Boyfriend and girlfriend, they moved into a large vacant home in a wonderful lot due to the magic of motherlode. They both immediately joined their career tracks and got hard at work. After getting about halfway through each career, Quinn became pregnant with their first child, a boy named Sean. Unfortunately, he wasn't the perfect child they expected, an evil genius from the moment he was born. They loved him all the same, however. Because they thought he should have someone to grow up with, they adopted a baby girl and named her Jayne.
As the two children grew, their relationship was nothing like their parents had hoped, fighting like cats and dogs and even declaring each other a nemesis from their first conversation. It was not smooth sailing. One relationship was going well, however, as Quinn and Aaron finally decided to get married, their children already well into elementary school.
When she became a teenager Jayne, unhappy with her large size, became quite the fitness aficionado. With some lifetime rewards and a lot of diligent training, Jayne is now very happy with her appearance. As a teen, Sean took up a job in the graveyard, enjoying the peace, quiet, and alone time. Both parents remained dedicated to their careers and zipped through the ranks.
By Jayne and Sean's high school graduation, they both had their lifetime goals and started working hard. But while Jayne was solely focused on her career, Sean had other things on his mind. River McIrish. Bold as ever, he sauntered over to the Single Mothers household and started chatting up River. Within a week they were married, and with a few more days River became pregnant. If that's not taking it fast, I don't know what is. River gave birth to a baby girl and named her Genevieve.
As Genevieve grew, her grandparents kept advancing career ranks, until many a joyous announcement came. Aaron had finally reached the top of the career tracks, and not only had River maxed out her guitar skills at one of Quinn's many campaign fundraisers, but she was pregnant again. She soon gave birth to twin girls, Miranda and Alison. They've grown to have nearly identical traits and look identical in every way except their hair.
And the rest? That's for everyone to wait and see.

To recap:
Quinn and Aaron are married
Sean and River are married
Quinn and Aaron's children are Sean and Jayne
Sean and River's children are Genevieve, Miranda, and Alison
Miranda and Alison are twins
Jayne is single and has no children

And now to begin a much, much more detailed account of the family.

The family notices an absence in the household tonight. That's because Sean sleeps with all the other criminals he's been working so hard with. That's right, he got arrested. His Dos and Don'ts of Dons has been tragically taken by the police while he has nothing to do but get ripped while the rest of the family goes about their daily lives, scrubbing counters, doing homework, and unclogging toilets. Hmm, maybe getting arrested isn't so bad after all...
Luckily, Sean's sentence ends just in time for his wife's birthday! Yes, it's time for River to become a full fledged adult instead of just a young adult. As soon as he gets home he wastes no time planning her a party. Meanwhile, Aaron heads to the gym to get ready for a game later that day. And amidst all that happiness, more good news! Genevieve has made it to the honor roll! She's quite a role model for her sisters, both of whom are B students.
Later that day, as the birthday party starts up, Aaron comes home with happy news: he won his game! Besides that, Sean's party went well. The guests left well fed and by the time it was done, River was an adult. It's time for everyone to change out of their party clothes and the children to get cracking on their homework as the day comes to an end. I'd say it was an eventful day, wouldn't you?
More to come soon!

Today was a very eventful day for the Andersons, and I'm not even done playing!
Both the older siblings (Sean and Jayne) came home announcing promotions. For Jayne it was extra special; she'd finally reached the top of the career ladder and was an international super spy, her lifetime goal. Sean, green with envy, has vowed to inflict some form of horrible torture on her once he reaches his next promotion, overloard of evil. Meanwhile, Quinn wonders why her child has managed to reach her goal before she has. Then she remembers all the maternity leave and curses labor laws. All the children and grandchildren age up, Genevieve selecting her lifetime goal to be a firefighter super hero. She immediately sets out to get a job as a firefighter. While at the station, she decides to try to romance one of her coworkers. "I'm a firefighter," she says. "Omigawd, me too! That is so cool," he squeals enthusiastically. Ah, young love. They continue to flirt in the bathroom. About grilled cheese.

While Genevieve was off paying attention to the opposite sex for the first time in her life, Aaron gets a great birthday present: winning his sports game. Yep, it's his birthday. It's also a few other members of the family, including Quinn's. She frets yet again about getting that last promotion before she drops dead. Aaron on the other hand, retires the second he sees his grey hair and decides to take up sculpting. Jayne feels no different, and Sean is angry at her again, this time over their birth order. Oh Sean, the world just mistreats you in so many ways, doesn't it? Don't worry, you'll be ruling it soon.
It seems Quinn should've worried less. Two days later, she came home shouting "I'm leader of the free world! Are you the leader of the free world? I didn't THINK so!" As long as she's happy.... Unlike Aaron, Quinn decides not to retire. The free world needs someone like her to lead it or it will surely crash and burn. It was just a fluke that it made it this long without her. She's never retiring!
Genevieve had less happy news, though it was still exciting. She fought her first fire. Unfortunately, taking almost six hours, she only got a C. Thankfully, no one was hurt, but she kind of wished she had saved someone from mortal peril to contribute to her lifetime wish.
The next day, Quinn's gets quite a shock. While she was busy trying to rule the world in a good, law-abiding way, she failed to notice her son going about the same goal in a less innocent way. So imagine her surprise when her son comes home one day announcing that he's the overlord of evil and he rules the world. That night over dinner, the two argue over who is actually the ruler of the world and who just has an overinflated ego. Jayne wonders why she's never bothered to arrest her brother.

Good start, I'm trying to force myself to play a full game (several generations) instead of two weeks in the game time. Maybe you could put in more pictures...

Thanks. :) I just think it's fun to play a large family that isn't a legacy. I haven't attempted a legacy family yet, but it looks seriously hard.

The lives of the Andersons has been rather boring for the past few days, with the exception of Genevieve. Her firefighter career is going swimmingly, though she still hasn't managed to save anyone. She's already at level 5 and is halfway to her next promotion! Her most recent achievement: being named firefighter of the year after saving the supermarket from a hoard of wild llamas. But more interesting than that is her budding romance with a certain Lewis Keaton. She's been pursuing him ever since her first day, though the stresses of being in charge of saving the lives of most of Sunnyville has gotten in the way of flirtation. Well, today was her day. She went straight from acquaintance to romantic interest, gaining her not only her first romance, but her first kiss! The girl is quite smitten. After a bit more flirtation, they decide to go steady.
But then tragedy strikes! One day while Aaron is out on his sculpting wheel, the grim reaper arrives, here for Aaron. The whole family is devastated, but most of all Quinn. That night, she goes to sleep. In the middle of the night, the grim reaper arrives for her too, abruptly ending her career as a politician.
But from the great sadness, something good emerges. Genevieve announces that she's pregnant! Things don't go quite so smoothly for her, though. When she tells Lewis the news, he's less than happy. He doesn't want to have to deal with the kid and promptly breaks up with her.

Really?  Did Lewis break up with her on his own or do you control him?

Huh? I use a mac, so I'm using command+shift+3 and cropping them.

Really?  Did Lewis break up with her on his own or do you control him?

I used cheats to briefly control him and had him brake up with her. I enjoy dramatic stories. :)

Today, in the middle of repairing everything in the house (I think some call that nesting), Genevieve goes into labor! After deciding to stay at home for the birth, she has a baby girl named Anna. Because I hate babies, I immediately age her up. That day, Genevieve spent the entire day teaching her daughter (whose unfortunate clothing and hairstyle has made her look more like a son) how to walk and talk, as well as potty train her. By the time the day is done, she's ready for all her life skills! A few days later, she decides to visit the fire station with Anna. She and Lewis chat a bit without incident, and Anna finally uses a mirror to get a better hairstyle!
Meanwhile, both of the twins get part-time jobs at the bookstore and Miranda takes an interest in painting. Art, however, is not the career path that's been chosen for her. As they near their birthdays, it remains to be seen if the personalities they have will get them the LTWs they need. If not, I can afford the 10,000 happiness points.
Meanwhile, River has been at home, quietly painting. And painting and painting and painting. Oblivious to the many promotions she receives in her quest, River is determined to complete her lifetime goal before she becomes an elder. After doing everything from a portrait of the maid to a genius still-life of the sky, she finally brings her painting up enough to say that she is a true master of the arts!

Both twins age up well, allowing me to choose traits and a lifetime goal. To my happiness, they both come out with their designated lifetime goals. I also go into Create a Sim and make a spouse for Alison. (Interestingly enough, Miranda looks exactly like River did when she was a young adult. Ah, genetics.)
After some socialization, Alison and Craig are boyfriend and girlfriend. They were about to WooHoo when Craig decides to completely kill the mood by leaving to cook waffles. Alison just rolled her eyes and whipped out the moodlet manager. "Thank you!" cried Craig, his hunger pangs gone. "Forget that! Where were we?" said Alison as she initiates another make-out session.
As I soon found out, an unexpected result of WooHooing with a washing machine in the house is a small pile of clothes appearing next to the bed. After some more social interaction, Alison is engaged. Unfortunately, while I was paying attention to Alison, Genevieve missed an emergency. Oops!

I always like screenies in stories, I just find them a bit annoying to take and host. I'll try to put in a few more though.

To start off today's post, I think River might be addicted to coffee. Whenever I look at her she's either drinking coffee or has a coffee-related moodlet. I'm seriously considering moving them to a new house with a) no coffee maker, and b) more than one bedroom. Perhaps evicting the Altos...
That's exactly what I did! After relocating Ms. Alto to a beautiful mansion on the waterfall lot, I moved the Anderson family right in. I'd always been admiring her pretty pink house... The family loved it too. Sean and River, however, decided that they were rather attached to the old house and stayed behind. Jayne, worried about what her evil brother would do if he had a house to himself, stayed behind as well. After a tearful goodbye on both sides, they set off on their way.
Unfortunately, after buying the expensive house and losing the large income of Jayne and Sean, the younger Andersons were faced, for the first time in their lives, with money troubles. They weren't poor by any stretch of the imagination, but they no longer had a small icon proclaiming that they were rich next to their names either.
Soon after moving, however, a one Mortimer Goth catches Alison's eye. They talk a bit, but before they can get anywhere Mortimer becomes tired and leaves. If only he'd stayed a bit longer she could've zapped him with her moodlet manager! It's about then that I remember she's engaged.

Today, Anna aged up into an extraordinarily ugly child. Unfortunately, Genevieve missed the birthday because she was off saving the town from near-destruction. While at work today there was a strange shaking in the ground. Yep, an earthquake! She saved many a sim (six to be exact) and got a service award for all the lives saved, which she picked up at city hall after finishing up the last job. Her grades for each emergency were B, A, and A. Meanwhile, Alison threw up... We all know what that means! Meanwhile, each member of the family got a promotion, including Genevieve to fire chief! What an eventful day.
The next day, she handled a large house fire, saving one more sim. It seems her luck is turning around when it come to her her lifetime goal.
Unfortunately, it seems the Craig's job performance has been slipping- a lot! I'm gonna need to pay better attention to him at work from now on...
In an unexpected turn of events, Genevieve was awarded the key to the city! Unfortunately, she missed the celebration in her honor. :( Meanwhile, I decide to age up Anna. She's just insanely ugly and when she's a child, there's not much I can do about it. As a teen I can slim her down and have access to better hairstyles.
On the other side of the house, Alison goes into labor. Much much later, she gives birth to a bouncing baby boy, Aaron Jr. Miranda, jealous of her sisters' procreation, adopts a girl toddler and names her Piper.

I know what you mean. Babies are a pain to deal with - at least in Sims 2 you had to age them up a day after they were born, but here you have to wait three days(on normal lifespan) to age them up! After my second generation spent three days in cribs and swaddling clothes, being coddled by my own LTW legacy founders(read The Shin Megami LTW Legacy thread, that is my work), I decided "FORGET IT!" and aged the babies up around 24 hours after they are born so we can get to the toddler training.  >:(
