Solstice, I needed to remove your post. I can't imagine anyone not knowing that info, but you never know. The reason I'm not banning what you mentioned is because players will be pursuing that anyway to increase score. Plus, ONE Sim can pursue it, not all 3.

Metro, the removed post is still readable at the Guide website, in case you didn't know.  I saw it there and couldn't understand why I couldn't find it here.  Now I know it's because you removed it.

I can't edit the Guide. Not a huge deal.

Ok Metro, I wasn't thinking that it might have come under tactical discussion. It was just something that popped into my head with regards life extending methods.

I know. I appreciate you bringing it up.

Aug. 20th? Perfect, a few days after Ambitions arrives so I will have some time to play around with my new EP and maybe even strategize while I'm at it. I'm in! Also, how does the Veggy trait extend your life?? Just curious.

@Sushi, the Vegetarian trait is believed to extend life. How much I don't know, but that's the reason why it's banned.

I have tested with it. Unfortunately, I don't remember the results. It's very useful if you want your sims to live longer so they can accomplish something.

So, you're confirming that the trait does indeed extend life?

I'm interested in this challenge.

I haven't done a lot of testing with the vegetarian trait, but I can confirm that every time I've made a sim with the vegetarian trait they had several more days in their life span, around 5 I think.

I can confirm that drinking nectar made with life fruit reduces your age by one, just like you ate a life fruit.

Question:  Can only one sim pursue the skill challenges for the unranked skills (collecting/consignment)?   Obviously more than one can't unlock the challenges for the normal skills (since that would require training the skill), but the collecting challenges unlock as soon as you pick up an collectable.

In one of my recent games Fiona McIrish lived until 142 on normal lifespan. I assumed it was because of her Vegetarian trait.

Yet another ban.  ::)

Treat collecting and consignment as bonafide skills — meaning, only one of your Elders can pursue those skills and the related challenges of the skills.

@Helen, you're in. Good luck.

More bans thanks to a PM from Archer0. Eating at a restaurant and using the Time Machine both give a Sim at a chance of resetting the life bar. Thanks, Archer0.

So, you're confirming that the trait does indeed extend life?

A bunch of random websites I looked up had discussions about the trait extending life, so it is probably true.

I have a question before I consider myself completely in, although I'm quite excited.

If players do not have all the expansion packs - I don't know when I'll get Ambitions - that will obviously hurt their score, yes? Making it out of a ratio of what skills are offered in each player's versions would not be as fair, although it seems like such for those without certain expansions.  :-X

Most definitely. If you're serious about getting a good score in this event, you'd want World Adventures and Ambitions. But, they're certainly not a requirement.

Quick question - do achieving LTW count as skill challenges?  For instance, the Da Vinci LTW or the Physical Perfection LTW or the Culinary Librarian LTW all require you to do something directly related to mastering skills and the Monster Maker LTW requires you to use a skill to make something but is not in the skill challenge journal.

For this event, we're only concerned with mastering skills and Skill Journal Challenges. Lifetime Wishes are not involved at all (at least for scoring).

Metro, you may recall a situation I am having with my Da Vinci challenge - the Consignment skill shows that my sim has an impressive reputation, and it has been impressive for at least a week in game time (I think it's longer, but I didn't keep track).  Yet the skill challenge section below still shows "Impressive Reputation" greyed out.  This has to be a glitch, right?  I don't think it matters too much in that challenge, but what if it happens in this challenge?  I want credit for all the skill challenges I"m entitled to!

I had this problem as well.   It fixed itself at some point, though I don't know what I did to fix it (if it was me at all!)   You could try exiting/starting again (obviously saving first).  That's the only thing I did... mainly because I went out for dinner and had to!   :D  Next time I checked it was marked off (not greyed out).

:)

I agree with cndneh's suggestion, Schipperke — save and exit the moment you have the text listing in the Skill Journal as Impressive. That is of course, if the Skill Challenge does not turn bold. If it's accomplished with the bold type, then all is well.

Cndneh, thanks for the suggestions.  I'm glad your problem fixed itself but unfortunately in my case, the problem has lasted through several exits and restarts.  I don't know if it's going to fix itself or not, but in this challenge we don't have a lot of time to wait and see.
