I'm thinking of joining this one. I'll do a few test runs and see if I enjoy it.

I think I might like to do this challenge, but I can't seem to find the rules.  Where are they?  Thanks.

I have read, though not personally tested, that getting makeovers can lower a Sim's age in the same way as getting a tattoo.  Does anyone have experience with this?

I need to know this information. Like yesterday. I currently don't have the game on my computer or I'd test it. I'm in the process of reinstalling since it's been some time since I've done a wipe and I wanted to do it for fresh characters for this event. So, I'd appreciate someone hustling on this for me. Thanks.

Well, I can't say for sure that it never works, but I just tried it with my 90-day old test subject, and his age hasn't changed.  I'm going to try a couple more test runs.

I've just had all 3 of my test group get makeovers.  They wound up with pretty ugly clothing, but none of their ages changed.  Of course, this still doesn't mean that it can never happen.

This was reported on the EA U.K. site on June 27:  "Both the Tattoo Chair & the Makeover Mirrors are currently resetting your Sim's age back to start of their Age Group, identical to using Ambrosia. "

Thanks for testing, Schipperke. I'd appreciate a couple more testers just to be on the safe side.

My Sims in the Wishmaster challenge wanted a tattoo, it did lower her age, I'm not sure about setting it back to the beginning of that lifespan (since she was young to begin with) but she was several days behind the others in the household, so I'm going to say YES to the making younger factor of tattoos.

hope that helps

:)

Thanks cndneh. Yeah, tattoos are already banned. I'm more interested in the result of makeovers. If anyone can confirm that getting one does add life, then I'll need to ban it.

Just tested it Metro, unfortunately, makeovers make sims younger.  I tried it three times and the age ranges from 5 to 8 days.  That totally stinks.  lol

Well I've had an odd result. I created 8 elders. On the first day, three of them got make overs - one did it herself and dropped a day in age, one got a stylist makeover and stayed the same age and the third got a make over from someone else at the salon and stayed the same age.
On day two, one went for a self makeover and aged 3 days :o
Seems to be quite random as to what happens, but I could be wrong, they all have different traits, so that might come into play.

So I guess the outcome is really random then.  There is such a variety of different scales both ways.  Never had really used the makeover station that much, not sure if I want to now, lol.

I'd like to try this one.  I'll aim for tops and be contented with not being last.   ;)

There's something that just came to my attention.  An athletic challenge is supposed to make the sim have a longer, healthier life. It's the Marathon Runner.

"Marathon Runners must run at least 500 kilometers before they earn the title. However, accomplishing this incredible feat guarantees them a longer, healthier life."

Right. I've had several players PM me on this one. It's fine. It's a little hidden in the rules, but I do specifically state that ALL challenges are allowed —

SCORING:

Grim's Multiplier — Everyone starts with a Grim's Multiplier of 1.00 and completing any Skill Challenge increases the multiplier by 25%. ALL skill challenges are allowed.

Only one Sim will be able to attempt that challenge anyway given the skill restrictions.

In my test run, the sim that completed this challenged died about ten days before the other two.   :(

10 days?! Are you serious? That's like 4 days after you started?

No, the athletic sim died at a pretty standard old age; the other two just managed to hold out longer.

I believe I read on another thread that someone looked at the coding and saw that the completing the challenge does not actually make your sim live longer.  It merely reduces the chance of your sim dying.

I'm just trying to do the math and it's not adding up. You say the marathon finishing Sim died 10 days before the other two. Given the life expectancy of an Elder in this is 14 days, I was thinking they only lived 4 or 5 days. Period. Did you mean to say they died two days earlier, not ten?

No.  I'm not sure on the actual number of days, but I do know I was running out of challenges to complete for the other two.  I was planning on the marathon runner lasting the longest.  She was, however, the one who came out of CAS being the oldest.  So that is a factor as well.  I was very surprised when the other two were not dying as quickly as I thought they would.  I chalked it up to lack of experience with Normal timespan and playing elders (for casual gameplay I use Epic and they rarely even age up to adult).  Please don't break your brain on this, I'm pretty sure it was just random that the other two lasted so long.

I had sort of a similar experience on a trial run.  Two of my sims died at less than 95 days old (including the runner), and one lived to be 106 days old.  There is definitely a lot of variation in how long the elders live.
