I'm impressed that he got the aquarium LTW so quickly! I love the story about finding Dustin in his bed. :) You're off to a good start.

Thanks, LlamaMama.  Yeah, it was pretty funny when I brought Holly home from the library and there was Dustin lying beside James (who really did sleep through it all), reading a book.  I guess Dustin looked at the cheap chairs and the good bed, and wisely chose the more comfortable furniture.  I wish I'd had the presence of mind to take a picture, but I was too busy laughing.  Holly wasn't laughing, though - she was stamping her foot and quite angry to find someone else in her bed.  Sims can really be hilarious at times.

At least you can afford chairs! My founders tend to eat and read sitting on the toilet for a while. Week 4 is a long way already!

Nice going so far. I just started to read all the Dynasty stories completely. I hadn't realized anyone else had chosen Holly as a spouse until reading this.

I like this dynasty! My stomach hurts after laughing so much when Holly came home and found Dustin "sleeping" with her husband! Haha!

Thanks, Beddy.  Twinmum, my founder chose Holly for her artistic ability mainly.  I must admit, though, I did think she would bring that fancy car with her but when she and James married, her dowry was only $2000 - no car.  Now James, my kleptomaniac founder, is wishing he had just gone ahead and stolen the car when he had the chance instead of trying to be nice to his fiance.

Did you ask her to your place or visit her at home. I invited her over and she drove there. When they married she brought 8191 to the household AND the car!

All that money AND the car too?  Oh, I am so envious ... James invited her, she ran across from her house, he proposed, and that was that.  Oh well, he is driving around in Agnes Crumplebottom's car, so he can't complain too much.  It's poor Holly who has to call a taxi to get around.  At least until James finds another car to steal.  For some reason, there aren't very many left in town at this point.  ;)

Hello, my name is Holly Douglas (formerly Alto).  I can honestly say that I am the secret to James’ success.   If there are any other non-immortals reading this, you know what I’m talking about.  Those immortals think they have so much to do, but I have to be good at multiple skills!  At least I know James didn’t marry me for my money, unlike some I could mention … Although he isn’t the easiest man to live with - between us, he’s the tiniest bit strange.  He goes out every night to fish in the graveyard and comes home with all sorts of “treasures” from the junk yard.  Honestly, when our daughter was a baby she saw more of the repairman than her own father.

But now that he’s the top fisherman around, he has been spending more time at home, which is nice.  He has also completed his 6 Opportunities and is busy planting all the special seeds he can find.  I told him if he expected to get 6 best friends he was going to have to start talking to Sims instead of spending all his time with fish, so he is socializing a lot these days.  I don’t know why all his new friends have to be young attractive females, but I trust him.  He may drive around in Agnes Crumplebottom’s car, but that doesn’t mean she gave it to him.  I’m sure he means to return it some day.

Our daughter has just become a child.  I did a lovely painting of her as a toddler and James took her photo.  I hope to soon perfect my sculpting technique so I can do her in ice.  I told James I didn’t want my daughter following in his footsteps and spending the night in the graveyard with the fish - he agreed.  I am going to teach Wimsey one of my many skills - I think perhaps sculpting.  I was a little dismayed when Wimsey aged up and her first wish was to take a fishing class - will have to watch her closely, she’s a lot like her dad in character.  Luckily they have me to keep things organized and running smoothly.  Here’s a picture of our little family:

Dear Diary:

It has been a long time since I wrote anything; I have been SO busy!   I was very afraid I wouldn’t master my ice sculpting technique before Wimsey’s birthday.  I’ve been sculpting and sculpting, and am totally stir-crazy, but I did it!  Just a couple of hours before her birthday celebration I finally mastered the technique of making permanent ice sculptures.  Here is a picture of Wimsey’s birthday celebration.  You can see the ice sculpture I completed just before she aged up:

http://www.postimage.org/image.php?v=Pq3kCSi][/url]

She is quite a beautiful young lady.  I am so proud of her!  She insisted on going back to her natural hair colour, although I do think it is very strange for a child to have black hair with white highlights.  I am pleased that she is showing an interest in sculpting and shall pass on all my hard-earned knowledge.

Now that Wimsey‘s portrait and ice sculpture are done, I can finally have a break and get out of the house, but it won‘t be to rest - I need to get my cooking skill up in order to be ready to prepare ambrosia for James when he ages up in four days.  The life of a Dynasty wife is not easy!  But very rewarding.  And so, off to bed.
Holly

I looked at the picture and thought "man they live in a house".  LOL  It is sad when you covet a Sim's house, isn't it?  We have a restroom and think we are lucky to have that.  I had forgotten that your Sim fella came with a bundle of money and I sure was wondering how they made so much money so fast.  I did marry Geoffrey Landgraab and he comes with about $20,000 and a $30,000 car.  They are trying to keep the car though.  I guess they should sell it and get a house before a meteor gets them all.  It is fun reading your story.

Telsey, my Founder James didn't come with any money!  He did marry Holly Alto, but she only brought $2000 with her.  For some reason, she didn't bring that expensive car that other players got (sore spot here).  But yes, they're doing alright financially at this point.  James catches 5 or 6 deathfish every night, Holly paints and sculpts, and James salvages at the junkyard on his way home from the graveyard.  Oh yeah, he also stole all the cars in town when he first arrived!  They are also probably farther along in the game than your group - I think they're somewhere in week 5.  James is just about to age up to elder.  If your sims haven't been salvaging from the junkyard, I highly recommend it.  They would probably have starved in the early stages without that.

Wimsey’s Blog

Hi to all my cyberspace friends and welcome to any newcomers.  I hope you’ll enjoy my blog and want to read more from me.

Sometimes people ask why I have a blog.  If their parents were as strange as mine, they’d understand why I need someplace to vent!  Well, my Mum is quite sweet really.  She works very hard.  She’s quite a creative person and spends many hours at her easel and sculpting station.  Which means we get to eat food made by DAD.  How to explain my Dad to you?  Well, he can’t cook at all.  The only thing he can make that’s safe to eat is autumn salad.  You should have seen the burned mess he came up with when he tried to make goopy carbonara!  I was cooking better food on my toy stove when I was a child.  Poor Dad.  He tries.  But I don’t understand why he can’t get a regular job like a normal dad.  None of my friends’ dads spend their nights in the graveyard!  And you wouldn’t believe the stuff he lugs home from the junkyard.  One time we had three broken fortune cookie makers in the back yard.

Then there’s all this hush hush, secretive stuff about the Dynasty.  Dad refuses to answer my questions about it, “You’ll understand when you’re older, dear.”  But I think it’s really creepy having 8 death flowers lying beside the house.  And it’s beyond creepy that one of those death flowers is for me.

I’m actually quite worried about Dad because he is starting to show his age and I think will be an old man soon.  I tried to talk to him about it but all he would say was “Don’t worry Wimsey, the Dynasty will take care of me.”  What is this stupid Dynasty anyway, some sort of secret cabal?  I’d like to track down that Metropolis guy who leads the Dynasty group and give him a piece of my mind.

After all those hours watching Mum sculpting when I was younger, I’ve decided that I want to be a professional sculptor.  Which makes Mum very happy, she was worried I’d want to be like Dad, fishing all the time.  No fear.  But I don’t want to give the wrong impression about Dad, he’s really quite a good sort.  When I was wondering where to get scrap to make a metal sculpture, Dad took off and came home with enough scrap to keep me busy for quite a while.  Now I must get back to work!

It is late at night and Sunset Valley is asleep.  Only at 15 Summerhill Ct a single light flickers in the window.  An old fisherman sits intently studying a long list on the desk in front of him.   There is no-one else in the room other than the raven he found injured in the graveyard one night and brought home to care for.  No-one but the raven hears the old man muttering strange words as he reviews his list:  “SuperMax - check; BlackOps - check.”  Finally the old man reaches the end of his list, puts a big check mark across it, and sighs in satisfaction.  The list is complete.

He remembers the day he first arrived in Sunset Valley, poor, jobless and alone.  He and Holly have worked very hard and have come such a long way.  Their daughter Wimsey is now a teenager; soon it will be his job to initiate her into the Dynasty.  But not quite yet.  Thinking of his beloved daughter and wife, he smiles to himself.  Tomorrow Holly will prepare the precious elixir that will help him achieve Immortality and he will have that talk with his daughter.  But for tonight his work is done.  James Douglas stretches, waves goodnight to Nevermore the raven, and strides toward the bedroom where the love of his life is waiting for him.

What a beautiful story, Schipperke! I'm coming to care about these sims, as you obviously do.

Oddly, my family's Douglas/Murdoch geneology is liberally sprinkled with James and Samuels, virtually every generation. Seeing James Douglas in your story tugs a heartstring.

Thanks for the kind comments, everyone.  Your interest is very much appreciated.  Can you tell, I'm having a lot of fun with this Dynasty?  LlamaMama, your remarks really hit home.  As I explained above, the Immortals are named after my dogs, not human family members, but it dawned on me yesterday how much the founder James is reminding me of my own Dad, who died 20 years ago.  His name was Graeme and he wasn't a fisherman, but something about their character seems a lot alike.  Totally unintended and unanticipated.

From Holly’s Diary:

Yesterday James became an elder.  Sadly, he had to give up his beloved kilt - it seems they don’t make kilts for elders - but I helped him pick out some nice tartan shorts to wear.  Even without his beloved kilt and with a few grey hairs, he is as handsome as ever.

This morning I made Ambrosia for the first time.  It looked perfectly delicious and I was hungry, so I sat down to taste it.  James came racing in from the garden:  “No, no, no!  Don’t touch it!  What are you doing?  Do you want us all to die?”  James isn’t given to exaggerated outbursts, but die?  I was sure he was overreacting.  Then he explained that only the Dynasty heirs are biologically equipped to handle this powerful elixir.  He couldn’t explain any more than that - “something in the blood,” he believed.  Honestly, they don’t need to make a secret of this Dynasty stuff - it’s so strange, if I blabbed it all out, everyone would think I was totally insane.  Anyway, no harm done.  James ate the Ambrosia and told me I had made it perfectly.  I haven’t really noticed any change in him, but he has certainly been in a very good mood.

Now that the mad rush to perfect my ice sculpting is past I have time to fulfill my own lifetime dream of learning to play the guitar.  I am truly enjoying it and hope to perform in public soon.

This afternoon James sat Wimsey down and told her all about the Dynasty.  I was playing my guitar nearby and couldn’t hear what they were saying, but I could tell the poor child was quite horrified by some of the things she was hearing.  Well, it is a lot to take in.  I expect she’ll blog about it, and I hope that will help her to deal with it all.

And now it is time for bed.

Wimsey’s Blog

Hi everybody.  I am so stunned after that talk with Dad yesterday, I don’t even know where to begin.  I mean the talk where my Dad sat down and told me all about this Dynasty that our clan is part of.   You won’t believe it.  The Dynasty group is like this small group of families - but more are joining every day.  Each person in each family has to do certain tasks to prove their commitment to the cause.  If we do everything we are supposed to, when we become elders we are rewarded with the secret of immortality!  I kid you not.

I had to promise not to divulge any details, but there are a whole bunch of things we have to do before we become elders.  I asked my Dad, “Well, what if I don’t want to do all that stuff?  What if I just stay single and don’t have any kids?”   (One of the things is we have to marry and have a child)  Dad just looked at me and said “Well, Wimsey, in that case our clan would be out of the Dynasty and we would all be terminated.”

Wow!  No pressure, eh, Dad?  Well, I wasn’t seriously planning to opt out of the Dynasty anyway.  I just like to be clear on what my options are.  Actually, when you think about it, it’s kind of neat, sort of like this is my destiny or something.  When I told Dad that he smiled and said “That’s exactly what it is, Wimsey.  Your friends may drift along from day to day, but if you choose to stay in the Dynasty, you will have to work hard and always focus on your goals.  Do you think you’re up to it?  It won’t be easy, but your mother and I are here to help you.”

So now I’m thinking about my goals and my life ahead in a new way.  I feel special, like my life has real purpose.  The only thing I’m not too sure about is Dad’s idea of helping me look for a husband.  “Dad, this is Sims3, not Sims Medieval - no arranged marriages, ok?”

But nothing stops my Dad when he gets an idea in his head.  He was fishing in Central Park this morning when Gunther Goth died.  See these two guys in the picture with Dad?  Mortimer Goth on the left and some unknown guy on the right.  As soon as Grim left, Dad started chatting up these two guys and telling them about me!  Really!  Oh, Dad …
