Heroes Dynasty
« on: August 25, 2010, 02:45:25 AM »
Here is my Dynasty loosely based on the cast from the first season of the TV show Heroes.
I plan to have the first 3 generations cover all the utility aspects of the challenge and last 5 will be responsible for the heavy income.

Founder: Mojinder - Gardener/Fisherman/Handyman
Gen 2: Isaac - Artist/Sculptor/Photographer

-Part 1-

Week 1 Day 1: Allow me to introduce you to Mojinder, founder of the Heroes Dynasty.  His traits are Ambitious, Angler, Green Thumb, Handy and Loves the Outdoors with the LTW Become a Creature-Robot Cross Breeder.

As soon as day one started Mojinder made a bee-line for the Wolff residence where he promptly began to woo Morgana.  I've always thought she would be a good mate for my male Sims but never bothered persuing it since she starts off married to Thornton Wolff, but this time I wasn't taking no for an answer.

After 20 or so 'Enthuse About Medicine' interactions Morgana was best friends with Mojinder, and he wasted no time asking her to break up with Thorton.  They then became an item and Morgana moved in with Mojinder, bringing $8000 in cash and a $4000 laptop with her.  Mojinder came up with a great idea to repay her...

Day one closed with love in the air, but with a baby on the way it's time to get down to business.  Mojinder got a job at the Science facility and spent the first few shifts getting to know his coworkers.  Meanwhile Morgana started sculpting in hopes of getting out an ice statue of Mojinder before he ages up.  She'll be getting a snapshot and portrait of him as well, but I feel that the sculpture is the most time-consuming so I chose it first.  After a couple days the first heir is born: baby Isaac.

Isaac starts out with the Artistic and Loner traits and is well cared for during his infancy.  Mojinder keeps going to work and gets a couple of promotions and starts to build his garden.  He also fishes for fertilizer support and in anticipation of his future career needs.  Morgana keeps sculpting and reaches level 10 and is 1/3 of the way to completing the ice sculpture skill challenge when baby Isaac has his birthday.  It is now week 1 day 7.

Clever you, going after Morgana Wolfe - to think she brought all that money into the family with her. Holly Alto only brought $2000 into the household when she married my founder - I'm quite envious!

Thanks everyone :)
Yeah Schip Morgana was a good pull, I honestly didn't know she'd bring that much with her, but I knew she had that laptop that sells for a cool $4000.  I'm in a mad rush to stack up as much cash as possible while simultaneously striving for a full garden and Isaac being level 10 painter/sculptor/photographer by the time the next gen is born.

-Part 2-

Week 1 day 7: Things are getting hectic with Isaac in the picture.  I've got his sleeping schedule down to where he wakes up when Mojinder gets home from work so that Morgana can focus on sculpting all day.  She just got the Chislemaster reward which lets her sculpt faster, but at this point I'm not confident that she'll be able to sculpt Isaac before he becomes a child.  Mohinder focuses on his garden and teaching Isaac to walk/talk/potty and reads the Handiness books at the library when time permits.  He now has all the base game common, uncommon and rare plants and even a flame fruit bush that he harvested from the Koffi household, but he'll need to start searching for seeds if he wants to grow the coveted life fruit.

Week 2 day 3: This day brought an interesting turn of events!  Isaac was sleeping, Mojinder was just stepping out of the shower and Morgana was sculpting away.  Everything was quiet, a little too quiet.  I noticed Mohinder had a picture of a rock in his que, which was odd because I didn't ask him to collect anything.  You could imagine my confusion when I moused over the icon and it said 'React to Meteorite'...

I quickly made Mojinder grab Isaac from the crib and made them run into the street with Morgana in tow.  The meteor leveled my entire house, but fortunately missed the potty chair (thank goodness?) and unfortunately torched the garden.

The fire department came and Mojinder and Morgana helped put out the fires, and afterwards the firefighters warned my heroes to be more careful next time.  The meteorites that were left behind sold for about $7000, not nearly enough to cover the damages but thankfully Mojinder's had a few promotions and I've been pretty good about saving Simoleons.

2 days before Isaac's birthday Morgana was able to finsih the Ice Personality challenge, so she sculpts an ice statue of Isaac that won't melt.  She still needs to hit 7 in painting to make portraits though, so I bought the Fast Leaner LTR for her in an attempt to speed things up but it just wasn't enough.  Baby Isaac ages up as Morgana is about 90% of the way to 7 in painting.  To make things worse I was so focused on painting that I forgot to get a picture of him too.  Isaac gets Ambitious for his third trait.  It is now week 2 day 7.

Oh no!  What a disaster with the meteorite!!  And did you not get a portrait of Isaac as a toddler?  That's going to disqualify him from eating Ambrosia, unless I missed something.

Oy you are correct Pam.  It's hard for me to remember all the rules.  And so the Heroes Dynasty comes to and end lol.

Tommy, what a heartbreaking end! Don't forget it's not like a Tournament challenge where you've got one shot. Get back in the saddle whenever you're up to it again.

Yes, definitely start again soon!  And remember next time to get that painting skill up to level 7 before working on sculpting.  The ice sculptures are optional; the paintings are required.

I'm gonna have to add some more post-its to my monitor, even though I already have the left and bottom sides covered lol.  With Heroes I was striving for maximum museum value so I think that starting with my gardener might have been a mistake.  I'll piddle around with some different combos and once I'm satisfied I'll start a new thread and delete this one.

Hey, bud. You're not alone. I just IM'd with Pam and told her I'm too much of a perfectionist and I'm going to can my effort as well, so we'll be starting over together! :) Trying to get all of the photos, sculptures, and paintings done is so much. Almost too much. So, for my own effort I just may decide to take a more relaxed approach and simply do the paintings. Haven't decided yet. But, the traits I chose for my Founder were all wrong with the strategy I had laid out. Then I discovered Agnes was going to age up in 6 days and that freaked me out. So, I think I've got a better game plan for next time.

Good luck with your next effort, Tommy.

Going for max museum value will definitely crash a Dynasty.  The real object is to make it to that 8th Immortal Elder.  The rest is just gravy.

Wise words, Pam!  They are engraved on my brain.  I have been feeling bad that my own Dynasty is progressing so slowly, but maybe slow and steady isn't such a bad way to go.  Tommy, sorry your Dynasty has ended, but I hope you'll try again.  And your group certainly went out with a bang!

Please don't delete this thread, TommyT. Your story and pics are really fabulous, and quite fitting for the Heroes theme!

I was cool with paintings only, but I could feel Metro champing at the bit to max the museum, just in the way he was answering the questions. It was so contagious it freaked me right out. :D
