Scholar's Garden- library reading boost?
« on: August 23, 2010, 05:07:31 PM »
Noticed a difference here.

Had a sim hit logic 3 before going to China.  He hit level 6 late in the second day of his visit by reading in the scholars garden.  I didn't bring the level 3 logic book, so decided to re-do the game.

Made another sim, same traits, career, and everything and had him read at base camp.  He barely hit level 6 before the vacation was over.

Seems the garden boosts reading speed. Anyone else notice this?  Pretty useful in getting a good start for the game.  And the academy is close by, helps with restroom and shower stops.

Now, this is useful information!  Next time I have a sim working on skills in China, I hope I remember to have them go to the Scholar's Garden.  Good stuff.  Thanks for sharing this, John Allen and Solstice.  Love the tidbits you find in this forum.

I wonder if the Scholars garden helps a Sim achieve a Meditative trance faster than one without.  ???

Yep, noticed this too and loved this little detail. The sims get a special moodlet when they're in the Scholar's Garden (can't quite remember what it is now) and it must be that that's helping them, much like the "power study" moodlet I guess which you get in the library back home.

Are you thinking of special moodlet named 'Meditative Focus'?
This is from Sims Wiki:
Meditative Focus  No Mood Effect  lasts 4 hours
Meditation  A clear mind and a centered chi will help you get things done better and faster.  The ability to meditate is gained through the Martial Arts skill. This moodlet helps your Sim do things faster and learn skills faster.

@ samoht04
   Zen   +20 Mood  -  Scholar's Garden
Only a place jam-packed with tranquility could promote such a powerful feeling of Zen. Namaste!  Scholar's Garden in Shang Simla, China. Sims with the Zen moodlet would meditate better than normal.
