September 2010 Building Contest
« on: September 01, 2010, 06:11:40 PM »
Meet the G Family!

Left to right: Isabelle, Ian, Gabe, Frankie, Addison held by Alisha, Zeke held by Frank

top to bottom: Frank, Frankie, Ian, Alisha, Zeke, Gabe, Isabelle, Addison

Dear Building Contractors,

I heard from a friend that you were holding a contest to build a home for a large family, so I thought I'd throw our hat in the ring.  My name is Alisha, and my husband Frank and I have 6 beautiful children.  They are Frankie (who is 8, and likes soccer and baseball), Gabe (who is 7 and likes to draw), Ian (who is 6 and likes video and computer games), Isabelle (who is 4 and likes anything), Zeke (who is 3 and also is happy-go-lucky), and Addison (who is 1 1/2 and loves to play outside).  I am a stay at home mom who likes to play computer games, paint, draw blueprints, and read.  My husband is in the medical field and he likes to spend his free time playing video games and watching movies.  Our kids do not need their own bedrooms, but we do need at least 4 bedrooms and at least 2 bathrooms.  We love to entertain, both indoors and out so we would like to have a pool, the house doesn't HAVE to have one now as long as there is room to add one later.  Play equipment for the kids outside is a must.  We do almost everything together as a family from going to the store to watching family movies.  We need to have a big kitchen as my husband and I love to cook together.  I love open floor plans, and we would prefer a play/bonus room for the kids that is not on the same floor as the main living space.  We would love a media room, and a basement.  Frank's favorite color is blue, mine is pink and blue.  The kids love yellow, red, white, blue, green, pink, and purple, but their opinions change regularly so you can use whatever colors that you think would look good.  I really hope that we win the contest, we could certainly use more space!

Thanks so much for considering us,
Alisha aka Momofmany

Job Requirements:

Build The G Family the perfect home using up to $100,000.  It needs a minimum of four bedrooms and two bathrooms, an outdoor play area and entertaining space with room for a pool, a bonus/play room for the kids on a different level than the main living space, and a large kitchen.  The smallest lot that you may build on is 30x30.  They've mentioned some color preferences and hobbies, but how you decide to incorporate them into your design is up to you.

Procedure:

Once you have completed their home please upload it to the Sims 3 Exchange.  For instructions on how to upload to the Sims 3 Exchange, click here.  In the Lot Description on the Exchange you must mention that it is an entry for a building contest on Carl & Pam's Sims 3 Forum.  Then return here to submit your entry.  You may include up to 5 single images of your house.  Please use the photobucket instructions for uploading images rather than the in-house image uploader.  We'll be able to see the full size image with Photobucket (or another hosting service) where as the in-house service only provides thumbnails that have to be clicked.  In addition, you must include the following information:

1. Name of your house
2. Link to your house on the Exchange
3. Lot size
4. Items used from The Sims 3 Store
5. Description of the house

Rules:

1. Players must go into Edit Town and build on a vacant lot, making sure the final value of the lot does not exceed the requirements of the contest before you exit Edit Town mode.  If you see what appears to be a decrease in value at any point, it isn't.  We've discovered that sometimes in build/buy mode you can be over-charged for rearranging certain items.  So if you get back into Edit Town mode and see that your house is less expensive than you thought you are more than welcome to go back into it and add more features.
2. No discussion is allowed on the submission thread until voting is complete.  Any posts for anything other than submission of a house to be judged will be deleted.
3. The use of mods or third party custom content is strictly prohibited.
4. Expansion Pack items & free items from The Store are allowed.  Please make note of any such items on the entry form.
5. The "moveobjects on" cheat is allowed, but no others.

Judging:

Contestants will have until September 30th, 2010 at midnight local time to submit entries.  At that point a poll will be posted and everyone will have the opportunity to vote on which 3 houses they think are best.  Voting will be locked on October 9th, 2010, after which the winner will be determined.  Homes that do not meet the basic requirements outlined under Job Requirements will be automatically disqualified.

Downloading and rating other contestants' work on The Sims 3 Exchange isn't mandatory, but it is encouraged.

Many Thanks to Momofmany who offered her real life family needs as the basis for this month's challenge!  If you have an idea for future building challenges please send a private message to AriaGirl77.

So can that be the living room? So would a Living Room with plenty of Seating for the family and a TV count? (I hope so)

Dear, The G Family.

I heard you were looking for a new home, well this one isn't exactly new but the renovations are! It used to be a Working farm yard for Pine hill but the farms in Sunset Valley all shut down with the arrival of the Landgraabs, the Barn had been left for years until a contractor  bought the place, I think this just scrapes in with your budget, it has a Nursery with two cribs in and also four children's beds in three other rooms, it also has a small pool out back with a Play barn which has access to a small cellar!

Pine Hill Barn - $97,864
Lot Size: 30x40
Info: This old barn has been recently been converted into a home, it boast Five bedrooms and two bathrooms, a larger Living/Dining and a Kitchen. It has a pool out back and a smaller barn which is being used as a Kids Room, there is a cellar under the second barn which could be extended, the main barn is light and spacious with big windows at either end.

In my opinion, a media room is a room that would allow viewing of movies, (not just a tv that can be placed anywhere), play video games on computers and game consoles and even listen to the radio.  Newscasters often refer to their news as "media".
What?  Grannies can't play games?
I speak perfect Nooblik, (and some Simlish)!

Dear Mrs. and Mr. G.:

Mysterious Island Realty regrets to inform you that our Hunter-Seek...er, Home-Owner algorithm did not turn up any overly-large shoes. However, we did locate this fiercely charming remodeled Victorian, which may be just the right size for your busy family.

The first floor holds a formal dining room, where eight can eat till they're replete. There is a nicely sized kitchen with the latest appliances. There is also a small sitting room with a fireplace for those cozy winters.

The second floor has one full bath and three generous bedrooms, plus a fourth room designed as a full sized play room, complete with balcony.

The top floor is a renovated attic, currently serving as a master suite with a full en suite bath.

There is a nice sized basement currently set up as an entertainment room with couches and media equipment. There is another half bath downstairs, as well as a Foosball table, exercise equipment and a juice bar for snacks during those long movie marathons.

Outside, there is a nice deck with a grill and plenty of seating, and your choice of child exercise devices. While there is currently no pool on the premises, as requested there is plenty of room to build one later.

My Dear G Family,

Here at Luxury Homes for Sims Realty, we strive to get our clients the most for their money.  Up for your consideration is a wonderful, Mediterranean Style Home located in Sun Valley.  It is at 53 Waterfall Way and  features wide open living spaces complete with courtyard.  This courtyard, which features an in-ground pool and fire-pit,  separates the main living and bedroom areas.  This home also has a 2-car garage, large wrap around patio, small pond & playscape - as requested.  This home is at the top of your price range at § 99,968.  The room for expansion and upgrades are almost endless and makes it worth every Simoleon!  Pictures don't do it justice & I have so many more I wish I could show you  ;D - It is a must see!

As you enter through the front entryway, you arrive in the main courtyard area.  It is paved with beautiful grey/blue flagstone, which is carried throughout the home.  Curved archways are throughout the courtyard marking the entryways to the home's interior spaces.  To your left is the Main Living Area.  This includes the 2-car garage and ˝ bath.  The stairs to the basement playroom & media room are through the hall that connects the kitchen area and garage area.  Very convenient for those rainy days after grocery shopping!  Continuing through the hallway is the kitchen/living area with a dining room off to the side.  The kitchen is spacious and offers a large eat-in breakfast bar.  Appliances are included as well as theft & fire alarms.  As you continue through the kitchen, you will see the circular dining room to your left and the large living room to your right - complete with fireplace.  Two french doors exit out to the courtyard and pool area.

As you walk across the courtyard from the living area, you cross to the bedrooms.  This hallway leads to two nurseries and/or bedrooms on the left.  To your right is a small hallway leading to two bathrooms and two additional bedrooms.  Continue straight down the hall to the beautiful Master Bedroom Suite.  This suite is done in tasteful pinks and blues to complement both of your color preferences. You have a quiet place to watch TV or read a book.  A complimenting master bathroom completes the suite.  There are two french doors also exiting onto a covered patio.  This Master Suite has a far away feel but is still close enough to be near the children.  There is also a connecting door to one nursery for your convenience.

There is a wonderful playscape area for the children and plenty of space to run around.  Small walkways meander around the house.  The landscaping is manageable and simple.

This home has everything you need to move right in.   All furnishings were chosen with your tastes in mind, but of course, you can always re-design anything not to your liking.  We hope you will love this home & thank you for your consideration.

Sincerely,
Lady Pieta

Good morning G Family!

This is Lilygirl of Yellow Lily Realty. I've heard of your need for a large family friendly home and I believe I've found the perfect one for your young family. The Blue Oasis Villa in Twinbrook meets and exceeds the requirements on your wish list with 4 bedrooms + nursery and 3 full baths. The pool and formal entertaining area to the left of the main entrance invite family and guests for a cool drink and dip in the water. The carport on the right has enough room for a family car and the childrens' bicycles.

The grand 2 story foyer has access to a full bath for those last minute bathroom breaks before heading into town. The foyer leads into the kitchen/dining room to the left with room for the entire family, and a formal sitting area to the right complete with fireplace and bookshelf for those quiet bookworms to enjoy. The master ensuite, complete with sitting area and view of the backyard, and the nursery are found behind the stairs.

The 2nd floor landing has a view of the foyer below and features a media area complete with TV, video game console, and computer. To the right of the stairs a door leads into a super quiet art room, complete with drafting table and easels, and a library. Straight ahead you'll find the furnished laundry room. Down the hall on the left are 3 more large bedrooms and a full bath. A large deck can be found off the media room and has enough space for many activities an outdoorsy Sim might enjoy, with a great view of the back yard.

The backyard had a number of mature trees to provide shade for those long afternoons spent playing on the swings, engaging in a Gnubb tournament, having a BBQ with friends, or fishing in the small pond. There is plenty of space left for playing tag, tossing around the old baseball, or starting a garden should one of the children grow up with a bit of a green thumb.

As you can see from the pictures I've included, this home has plenty of space for a growing family and adult entertaining too.

If you are interested in viewing this home please contact me at YLR, I would love to show you around.
