Dear Building Contractors,
I heard from a friend that you were holding a contest to build a home for a large family, so I thought I'd throw our hat in the ring. My name is Alisha, and my husband Frank and I have 6 beautiful children. They are Frankie (who is 8, and likes soccer and baseball), Gabe (who is 7 and likes to draw), Ian (who is 6 and likes video and computer games), Isabelle (who is 4 and likes anything), Zeke (who is 3 and also is happy-go-lucky), and Addison (who is 1 1/2 and loves to play outside). I am a stay at home mom who likes to play computer games, paint, draw blueprints, and read. My husband is in the medical field and he likes to spend his free time playing video games and watching movies. Our kids do not need their own bedrooms, but we do need at least 4 bedrooms and at least 2 bathrooms. We love to entertain, both indoors and out so we would like to have a pool, the house doesn't HAVE to have one now as long as there is room to add one later. Play equipment for the kids outside is a must. We do almost everything together as a family from going to the store to watching family movies. We need to have a big kitchen as my husband and I love to cook together. I love open floor plans, and we would prefer a play/bonus room for the kids that is not on the same floor as the main living space. We would love a media room, and a basement. Frank's favorite color is blue, mine is pink and blue. The kids love yellow, red, white, blue, green, pink, and purple, but their opinions change regularly so you can use whatever colors that you think would look good. I really hope that we win the contest, we could certainly use more space!
Thanks so much for considering us,
Alisha aka MomofmanyJob Requirements:
Build The G Family the perfect home using up to $100,000. It needs a minimum of four bedrooms and two bathrooms, an outdoor play area and entertaining space with room for a pool, a bonus/play room for the kids on a different level than the main living space, and a large kitchen. The smallest lot that you may build on is 30x30. They've mentioned some color preferences and hobbies, but how you decide to incorporate them into your design is up to you.
Procedure:
Once you have completed their home please upload it to the Sims 3 Exchange. For instructions on how to upload to the Sims 3 Exchange,
click here. In the Lot Description on the Exchange you must mention that it is an entry for a building contest on Carl & Pam's Sims 3 Forum. Then return here to submit your entry. You may include up to 5 single images of your house. Please use the
photobucket instructions for uploading images rather than the in-house image uploader. We'll be able to see the full size image with Photobucket (or another hosting service) where as the in-house service only provides thumbnails that have to be clicked. In addition, you must include the following information:
1. Name of your house
2. Link to your house on the Exchange
3. Lot size
4. Items used from The Sims 3 Store
5. Description of the house
Rules:
1. Players must go into Edit Town and build on a vacant lot, making sure the final value of the lot does not exceed the requirements of the contest
before you exit Edit Town mode. If you see what appears to be a decrease in value at any point, it isn't. We've discovered that sometimes in build/buy mode you can be over-charged for rearranging certain items. So if you get back into Edit Town mode and see that your house is less expensive than you thought you are more than welcome to go back into it and add more features.
2. No discussion is allowed on the submission thread until voting is complete. Any posts for anything other than submission of a house to be judged will be deleted.
3. The use of mods or third party custom content is strictly prohibited.
4. Expansion Pack items & free items from The Store are allowed. Please make note of any such items on the entry form.
5. The "moveobjects on" cheat is allowed, but no others.
Judging:
Contestants will have until
September 30th, 2010 at midnight local time to submit entries. At that point a poll will be posted and everyone will have the opportunity to vote on which 3 houses they think are best. Voting will be locked on
October 9th, 2010, after which the winner will be determined. Homes that do not meet the basic requirements outlined under Job Requirements will be automatically disqualified.
Downloading and rating other contestants' work on The Sims 3 Exchange isn't mandatory, but it is encouraged.
Many Thanks to Momofmany who offered her real life family needs as the basis for this month's challenge! If you have an idea for future building challenges please send a private message to AriaGirl77.
