Cars stuck in family inventory!
« on: September 29, 2010, 04:16:05 PM »
I bought 2 cars for my family and allocated one to each adult giving them each a preferred vehicle. After about 2 days I found them in the family inventory and I can't move them back to the garages I had created for them in the first place. I tried clicking the button "sell all items in the inventory" but the cars don't move!  :( has anyone got any tips on how to get rid of them?

Make sure you're in their home lot. If that doesn't fix it, good luck. In case you find another solution, tell me!

Also try clicking on the car in inventory to have your Sim drive it somewhere.  If they drive it, maybe it will go back to the parking space on the lot when he/she goes back home.  You should also try restarting the game.

I have had something similar happen.  I salvaged at the junkyard and picked up a globe, which went into my personal inventory, not the family inventory.  But once I picked up that globe it was there to stay.  I could do nothing to get rid of it.  I noticed other things that I had not salvaged, but just put into my inventory were also stuck.  I even had a newspaper stuck.  Every couple of Sim days I would have another item unusable.  At all, they were just stuck.  So, did you salvage?  If you did then that may have caused a bug.

I've had the stuck globe from the junkyard, too.  Three of them, in fact.  It's something that just happens sometimes.  Worse for it being a car, though, because they can be so expensive to replace.

Yeah, but why would you? They aren't cheaper than when you buy them directly from the buy mode.

I just meant that it would be more expensive to replace a car that's stuck in inventory than to replace a globe that's stuck.

That's true. And waiting for the car to become cheap at the conseignment store can also be really time-consuming.
