Stange happenings with laundry
«
on:
October 19, 2010, 09:54:09 AM »
I think it is just me but I got a big surprise when doing the laundry. I know about the Laundry gnome (I got it from the miner, and I think you can get it from the laundry too), but this is just... strange. I got a child from my laundry
. A message came up saying that my sim pulled out a laundry gnome and there was a random girl in my family list
. In her family tree, she has no mother, just a father (the sim that pulled her out). She is listed as half sister to my sim's son. Has this happened to anyone else or just me?

Welcome to the forum! That is very different getting a child out of the laundry. I don't believe I have ever heard of that before.

I tried looking it up on-line but there is nothing about it anywhere. I don't know if its a bug or if it is just a rare thing that happens. I kept her just because it was so strange.

Wow, just when you think you've heard everything about Sims, something like comes along! How bizarre. Psalg001, were your sims at home when this happened (I mean in their home town, not a travel home)? And welcome to the forum.

They were home at the time... the thought just occurred to me. If a child can come out of the laundry, can a child or a toddler even get lost in it too
? And thank you

That is weird. I've never had that happen to me before. And what is a laundry gnome? I'm supposed to be a Sims addict and I don't even know what a laundry gnome is. lol. That proves how smart I am.

I don't play much with laundry, but I agree with the other people here that it's probably a glitch too get a daughter that way. It's still cool though.

Oh but you should, Swede. Depending what quality washing machine you get, you can get very good moodlets from this. Your sims can even be happy in their sleep with the "Clean Sheets" moodlet.

I agree sydney511. I love the moodlets from laundry. I hate that when you start a new Sunset Valley or Riverview that a laundrymat doesn't place itself. In my dynasty I have to buy a washer and dryer. But it would have been so nice to get the moodlets for a week for like 35 simoleons with out having to deal with the clothing left every where.

Why is it called a laundry gnome when one can get it from the mines?

Perhaps it's a Time Machine related glitch, seeing as you can get a child from time travel during normal gameplay. With laundry and Time Travel both being part of Ambitions, you could imagine the mechanisms getting mixed up and resulting in laundry kids such as you have experienced.

Oh wow, I can totally see that. Little brown bears that hide underground and snatch your socks off as you walk over them, like trapdoor spiders.

@Ausette: No it's when you take off your socks at night and toss them next to your bed then, like Santa, they come at night while you're sleeping and steal them.

Finding a child in the laundry machine, rather interesting and humorous. Was there a time machine in the household? What type of washing machine were you using? Was the child wearing any unusual clothes (like futuristic or cave-man clothes)? I think Ausette was right about the mechanisms getting confused.

That is really bizarre but funny.
I rather like the washing machines. When I first heard of them I thought it was too much like real life hard work but the sims enjoy their clean laundry and the moodlets are worth it. You won't get the clothes all over the floor if you place laundry hampers in all the bedrooms and bathrooms and there is rather a neat animation when sims change their clothes. The washing machines and dryers are a little glitched though. Every so often they will refuse to take any laundry and sometimes the dryers just keep on drying. The only things you can do here is replace the machines as far as I know.

Laundry is a lot of work, but I do love that moodlet. This is why I try to keep a sim with the Neat trait in the household at all times. One click and the laundry's picked up (and that nasty toilet gets some much needed attention, too), and then a single click on the washer is all it takes to get it rolling.

Wauw! How could I've missed this tread? Laundry kids. It still is a weird thing to get used to. What are the traits of the kid and does she looks like her father psalg?
Oh, and welcome to the forum by the way. You've made a wonderfull entry.
