Hello. I'm new to this whole blog thing so go easy on me  ;) . Carl, you have the COOLEST guide in the universe! I've read almost everything. The story might not be all that good so tell me how I can improve and everything. Thanks people, here we go:

I started on the big land (forget what its called) and started off with Bobby Greenwood a young adult. His traits are Couch Potato, Artistic, Genius, Computer Whiz and Family Orientated. I bought a bed. Lol, that's all I bought as the resources I need are around the town. I want him to become a professional author. I forgot his life wish, I think I chose something weird though. Oh well.
I applied for a job at the business place thingy (I am so forgetful. I should have wrote it down). He got the job and I let him spend the day around the town. He went to the park and made a friend called... um... I promise I'll write it all down next time! I can't remember!

They got along well. I made them talk for a few hours until he left and went home... to his bed. He slept until i realized it was a pretty stupid time to make him sleep as he woke up in the middle of the night. I went to the gym and he had a shower and went to the toilet. He went to the library and read a few books until he home to get ready for work (even though he only owned a bed). He went to work and I had to wait for ages for him to get home. When he got home, he walked around the town trying to find the girl he met before, this could possibly be a good choice. Hopefully I will be able to marry her and have the legacy going well.

That's all so far, but I'll try to do somemore tommorow (or today since I have nothing to do). Wish me luck with the girl whose name I can't remember and tell me how I can improve.
By the way, I'm borrowing Sims from my friend because he went on holiday, so I don't actually own the game, but I will be sure to buy it for Christmas! Haha! Bye and happy simming everyone!
(I write really boring.) (Sorry.) (Sorry that I don't have photos.) (Sorry.) (I say sorry too much.) (Sorry.) Lol, bye.

I'm back on and I have no idea how to make a space between the two stories so I'm writing it here. The name of the girl is Elise, she already lives here (I've read the rules of Sims 3 legacy thingo and this can just be a practise) She lives in a big cozy house which was probably invented by my friend.

After a few days he got a promotion! Wahoo, a few extra bucks can go a long way. Also I made much progress with Elise. She and him were extremely close and I decided to have a private wedding. She then moved in with Bobby and they lived on the ground. Still they didn't have a whole lot of money after she moved in but I decided to be nice and build them their very own room. I then bought Bobby his very own computer! He went on it but didn't really seem to care. I felt like drowning him because he didn't clap for it or anything but, oh well.

These are Elise's traits:

Artistic
Family Orientated
Lucky
Charismatic
Loves the outdoors

I liked her traits and bought her an easel. She painted heaps and her first painting sold for 3 ENTIRE simoleans. I was again angry but thought "get over it Cheese Buddy! It's just the best game in the world, calm down"

After seeing a psychiatrist for my anger managment - lol jokes - Elise wanted a baby. I thought this was a good idea, but I didnt have much money left. I decided to have a baby anyway. Let's just say that night they both said woohoo... actually it was a little more than said.

In the morning she didn't need to throw up so I was a bit upset for them.

The next night they tried again.

And the next night.

I thought I was doing something wrong because as I have only had the Sims for a few days, I've never had a baby and guessed I was doing something wrong.
Then i realized you have to press "try for baby". Wow, that was dumb of me! (I know what you're thinking, what an idiot, he started a legacy and hasn't had any experince looking after a baby before.)

The next morning she threw up in the toilet! I was so cool! She didn't seem to know she was pregnant because she couldn't get anyone to listen to her tummy or whatever they do. (I've read other legacys and Carl's skill guide so I know heaps of info about it all.)

She then had to wear maternity clothes and she could have people listen to her tummy! It was funny.

Bobby continued with work. He got another promotion while Elise had a few days off. I really wanted her to quit altogether so she could pay all her attension to her baby. Finally the day arrived and I discovered that labor was the most hilarious thing in the universe. The guy was doing a weird sort of screaming dance. I sent them to the hospital and they came out with a baby girl. Her name was Igloo. Weird name, but I couldn't think of anything else.

Igloo was a cute little thing. Her hair was blond and she was really cute! They got home and I realized I HADN'T MADE A NURSERY!! I made one with the small amount of money I had. I couldn't buy any toys or anything but I think that's for toddlers anyway.

I got to choose two traits wich was cool.

Igloo's traits are

Couch Potato and
Lucky

I wanted her to be a mix of her mom and dad.

I made Bobby do most of the work and Elise eventually had to go back to work.

That's all so far folks, Happy Simming! (Again sorry for no photos.  Can someone tell me how to do all that because I have no idea.) BYE

Hi Buddy,

I agree with you, Carl has the COOLEST Sims guide ever!!! :D

Anywho, I take a lot of pictures of my sims and I would tell you how to do it - just hit C. The screenshots are then found under your Electronic Arts folder in the folder titled Screenshots. At least for me it is. I'm sure if these instructions are wrong or incomplete someone will correct them.

Sorry, I have a bad habit of never being able to explain how I do something if I'm not actually doing it at the moment of instruction.

And I think Igloo is a cute name! ;)

Ya Cheese Buddy -

I thoroughly enjoyed your story!  I love your style of writing.  My favorite part is "get over it Cheese Buddy! It's just the best game in the world, calm down."

Good job and keep it up!  And if you have any trouble with screenshots after reading the instructions, let us know.

Thanks everyone! You're all so nice here!  :) I don't have pictures this time again, but I'll try to remember next time. Thanks for the comments and info. I will be sure to take some snaps!

On with the story.  I played for ages so I have plenty of stuff to tell.  This time I took notes.

Igloo was about to become a toddler and Elise was pregnant again. She wanted another girl but I wanted a boy.  Who better to choose than me? As if the mom should choose the gender of her own baby. Lol! I made her eat an apple, just one because I didn't want twins or triplets.  That would just be too hard for me.

Finaly it was Igloo's birthday! I got her a cake and she blew out the candles with her mom and dad. She was then a gorgeous little toddler. I want her! :)

The day after, Elise went into labour! She went to the hospital and came out with... a little baby... BOY!  HA!  I WON! Take that, Elise.  I'm so much cooler than you and your brown hair!  I called him Jerry because that's my middle name and I love it. It was there and then I decided I didn't want any more children.  I had a man to take over the house when he grew up, so I didn't need any more.

I bought Igloo some books and toys.  There were only a few books, but I bought what I could (with a few spare bucks).  I made her read them and Elise and Bobby continued with work, sometimes having to get a babysitter. But I didn't like having a babysitter.  I wanted my sims to look after them.  So I decided it was time for Elise to have an early retirment.  She missed work and stayed home looking after Igloo and Jerry. In all her spare time she was looking after herself and painting... I almost wrote smoking then... ? That was so weird, anyway...

Elise got her painting level up to 6 and Bobby had written a few books. With their work going well, they earned more money as Bobby got ANOTHER promotion. The house grew bigger and bigger.  These are the rooms:

Parent's bedroom
Kids' bedroom
Bathroom
Living room
Little study and kitchen

The kitchen was the only room that wasn't fully furnished.  It had a fridge and a small table with three chairs.  I promised myself as soon as I got money I would make a proper kitchen.  The house wasn't exactly stylish.  It was kind of dull, so I would again have something to improve.  Also outside on a small balcony (it's downstairs though) was an easel as Elise got a mood boost from being outside.

Igloo and Jerry's birthdays were at a simlilar time.  Igloo become a child and went off to school.  I wanted her to stay home but she has to go. :(  Elise stayed home and I got a few more books so little Jerry could max his skills (not really max them, but start learning them).

Igloo brought over a friend; I hated her friend. She was SO annoying!  She talked to the whole family and went in our toilet, which broke it.  How do you break a toilet?  She must have super human weight which makes her snap it in half, even though it didn't look broken.  (That was a complete lie.  She broke the sink, but I'm pretending it was the toilet so... well, I don't know why.

After a while Jerry turned into a kid. I was so happy! I just want him to grow up faster (but without cheating). Then I realized I hadn't spent money for awhile, so I made the kitchen a lovely little area. Back to Jerry though... you see Igloo was such a lovely little girl but Jerry... his nose really irritates me. It's slightly longer than most Sims and I just know it's going to keep growing.

THE WORST NEWS IN THE ENTIRE UNIVERSE!!

My sister came over with her daughter and son (6 and 8) and they have Sims at home. They asked if they could play it, so I let them. Unfortunately, they went into my house and RUINED EVERYTHING!!!   They did stupid things and didn't look after my Sims!  They wasted all of my saved money on a pool that I don't even want.  Igloo is now a teenager and I didn't get to have her birthday.  Bobby lost his job.

So I fixed all that (as much as I could).  Bobby works at home writing books all day.  I deleted the pool, and Igloo looks like a pretty cool teenager.  Oh, I think i forgot one tiny little problem:  ELISE HAS BEEN THROWING UP IN THE TOILET!!! )(*@#&)%$&#@^($*&

She's pregnant, again. After I decided I wanted no more kids. I thought I would get over it.  It's just one more little kid running around.  NO!  IT'S NOT! She had twins!!!  This is the worst news I've heard all century!  Luckily Bobby can work at home to help look after them, but I would rather them never born.  I'll thell them they were a mistake and I never wanted them when they're teenagers so it hurts the most.  Elise wasnt happy and I didnt get to choose their traits. The boys are complete loonies.

Ronald:                            McDonald:

Clumsy                             Snob
Loser                               Insane

Hmm, great theirs, eh? NOT! :( . Well, I guess it will be fun to look after weirdos BUT I DONT WANT THEM! Yes, I know Ronald and McDonald are completely random names, but it suits their weirdo ways. They grew up into toddlers after a punishing few days.  The toddler stage was SO much harder.  They kept needing nappie changes ALL THE TIME!  And how can a baby be a snob?  I didn't really bother with their skills.  They won't need any.  When they become young adults, they're getting married and moving OUT!  I could just kill them off, but I would feel guilty.  They're only young.  Jerry became a podiatrist... I mean teenager. :)  He has a long weird nose though.

Igloo brought home some guy called Jarrod.  I think this might be her future husband.  He's a bit of a punk with a mohawk, but I like him.  The only problem is he was looking through our garbage.  Does this mean he's a Kleptomanic or something?  Oh well.  I'll post back soon!

Happy Simming!

Cheese Buddy -

You might be able to retrieve your game to the point before it got ruined.  Carl has a post telling how to get back a previously saved game.  The game actually keeps your most recent save AND the one before, in case something happens and your save gets corrupted or something.  Here's the link to the instructions if you want to give it a try:

http://www.carls-sims-3-guide.com/forum/index.php?topic=6.0

Also, you may have noticed that I've edited your posts.  This is because part of what I do as moderator is correct spelling.  We have international visitors who may use page translators and it's important that posts be in correct English.  It also helps our search engine results for people looking for help.  I know sometimes misspelling something makes it funnier, but we need to keep English proper around here.  That's the only thing I would suggest to improve your writing.  :)

Nice story Cheese Buddy, I think the lesson here is never let nieces and nephews play with your Sims  :D

I also suspect that a rather famous Fast Food chain will want to sue you over the use of their main advertising character (Ronald & McDonald, hum I wonder what you had had for tea that night  ;D)

Keep up the good work

Gulp! I hope they don't sue me! Hee hee! Sorry about the spelling mistakes, I'll try my best from now on, but I'm a terrible speller. :)  I guess I could write it in Microsoft Word then copy and paste. Sorry again.

Also, I've already finished a big chunk of the game, so going back would make me loose what I've got now. But next time something like that happens, I will definitely use that idea. Thanks :) .

I'll post the new stuff soon! Bye everyone.

This is pretty funny, especially the nose.

Akh, I would never let anyone near my Sims! :o :D :D

i guess i could write it in microsoft word then copy and paste.

If you use the Firefox browser it has a spell checker built in. :)

As for unwanted children, couldn't you just try to kill them and then a social worker will take them away? No guilt. ;D

From the Death vs. Health thread....

How about just bumping off the old people? They're going to die anyway...

 :D

And above....

As for unwanted children, couldn't you just try to kill them and then a social worker will take them away? No guilt. ;D

Okay, is it just me, or is anyone else seeing a pattern here with PJ? Dr. Metro's prescription is a Soothing Salvations package, PJ, and all of these disturbing thoughts will melt away!  ;D

But death can solve so many problems...

Actually there's more:

Ever since I first started playing the Sims I enjoyed the beginning of games the most and I was always interested in ways to make fast money for my Sim. My favorite way is to make a full household of 8 Sims and then immediately bump off the ones I don't want and just keep the one Sim I intend to play. It was only very recently I discovered that I don't actually have to kill them anymore, I can just kick them out and still get to keep their money. ::)

That's because I always did it this way in Sims 2 so I just continued in Sims 3. Sometimes I couldn't be bothered to think of names for the doomed Sims so I just called them Token 1, Token 2... (I got this idea from South Park).

I remember when I first played Sims 2 I was soo happy to find that a household would get more starting money the more Sims was in it. In the first Sims it would be the same amount for every household so back then I would have my Sim make friends with his neighbors until their relationship was high enough to ask them to move in. As soon as they moved in (bringing their money of course) I would put them in the pool and remove the ladder.

This is all for utilitarian purposes you understand.

PJ -

If you're doing all the killing for money, you could just use the money cheat and not bother with all the other Sims.

And, if Cheese Buddy tried to kill those twins so the social worker would come take them, all of the kids would get taken, not just the two he doesn't want.

Oh, I thought it would just be the ones being mistreated. I haven't tried torturing any kids, I have standards. :D

If you're doing all the killing for money, you could just use the money cheat and not bother with all the other Sims.

No, see that would be cheating. I don't like doing that, it's just too hard to decide when to stop once you've started and then it's no fun.

Hello! Elise is officially an elder. She looks so old and weird now! But anyway, here are their ages. (Some have aged up since last time, but I won't go into that because they weren't all that exciting.

Elise:            Elder
Bobby:          Adult
Igloo:           Young Adult
Jerry:           Teenager
Ronald:         Teenager
McDonald:     Teenager

They're all growing up! Igloo and Jarrod are always hanging out. Read more to find out what happens.

So I feel sorry for Elise, being an elder and all, but this means she can't have any more kids so I'm safe. Bobby will soon become an Elder. I'm sure of it. Also, I really want Ronald and McDonald to grow up, but I don't want to cheat. So, I will wait patiently.

By the way, I put up a poll and I want everyone to vote. The name will be given to the 3rd generation (Jerry's son), so I can't go that far without some more votes. I really want people to vote for this, but so far only two people have voted, one for Hup and one for Crumbs. Please vote everyone. i might make it first to 3 votes since no one's voting. Well, thanks :) . On with the story:

So Igloo and Jarrod have been hanging out heaps, then finally I made her propose. He said no :( . After a few days of them being together I tried again. This time the answer was yes. I was so happy to finally get her out of the house and in with her wonderful Sim friend.

Then on the same day, Bobby became an elder and Jerry became a Young Adult! Wahoo, this is great news. Now I can start generation 2!

McDonald brought over a girl, so I'm hoping this will be his soon-to-be bride. Then I can get rid of him without feeling guilty and losing my game.

So I made Jerry go out in the town looking for a girl for him to marry. I spotted a nice looking girl and let him chat to her. They seemed to get along, so I invited her over. Her name was Karlii. She came over and met the family. When Ronald tried to talk to her, I put him in his room and removed the door. It's for his own good. :)

She was a very friendly Sim. She never seemed to get bored of talking and chatted away for hours to everyone (except Ronald and McDonald). The next day she came over again and she and Jerry talked to each other for a very long time until they were close enough to do other things instead of boring talking. I made Jerry cook her a meal and they ate together. Then I set up a nice little area outside with flowers and a nice chair. It looked very professional and peaceful. There and then he proposed. She said yes and that was it, they were going to have their own wedding.

After they were married, I made them there own room UPSTAIRS! That's right. I built a second story! They have a great room with their own bathroom. The downstairs rooms were great now, getting better and better, improving them as much as I could.

Then Ronald and McDonald became Young Adults. Almost immediately I proposed to the girl McDonald met. I don't even care what her name is. She said yes and they moved out. One down. He got married the day after his birthday.

So McDonald and Igloo were gone, with just Ronald left. Bobby and Elise were old and I didn't know how much longer they had left. So I decided I would treat them. With all the money I had, I built them a small flat next to their house. They had a small kitchen, bedroom, bathroom and living room. All with bad furniture. Here was the time I was most tempted to use the cheat. This flat was not what I had planned. I wanted a small but luxurious little house for them so they could move on from life and to the next step in peace. This might sound weird, but I grew very attached to these two. Especially Bobby. I didn't want them to die, but if I wanted the Legacy to continue, they would have to. Does anyone else feel like this? Do they feel like keeping their Sims forever like Sims 1? I wish they could stay, but I didn't want to turn off aging or slow it down. I didn't want to cheat with money or any other ways. I wanted them to stay, but it's impossible without altering things, using cheats and making Ambrosia.

WARNING! Reading the following few paragraphs will most certainly make you cry. Do not read more unless you're super tough or love crying over Sim deaths.

It was time. Elise reached the end of the aging bar. My heart beat quickly, she was going to die soon. I stared at her wishing I could reverse time. But inside I was smiling, grinning. She could move on to Sim heaven. She could make friends and live the rich life I couldn't give her. As I watched the grim reaper approach, she stood and watched, Bobby staring in silence. It was a few seconds before anything seemed to happen. It felt like hours before he arrived to her. Then he took her. She seemed happy to be leaving, but Bobby wasn't. She left the Sim world. She was gone. Bobby was crying.
I wanted them to die together, then there would be no pain for him. So that same day O fed him a birthday cake, his life bar already close to the top. They were together. Up and away, safe and happy, with their children living happily, completely unaware of what had happened. Jerry woke up and went to their tombstones. He cried a lot. I was really depressed at this point. I witnessed two deaths. It's a hard thing for someone to take!

YOU CAN READ AGAIN!!! IT'S NOT SAD ANYMORE!

Well, I know you think that was completely over the top and weird and all I have to say to you is... so do I. I just wanted it to be a big deal. Sorry if it was completely boring for you.

Jerry and Karlii were great together. They ruled the house. I deleted the flat and sold everything in it so there would be no sad memories (even though they never went in there). They were like a family in the movies. A nice man and woman looking to have children with the annoying, in your face brother. He made it funny though. So I decided to keep him there for a while. He got a job at the business building. Jerry worked at the buisness building too, but I wanted him to be an author. Like Bobby. Karlii had brilliant traits for the family. Green thumb and angler were her best, shame she didn't have natural cook.

Anyway, this brings me to the end of the post. Give me comments and vote on the poll. Thanks everyone! Much appreciate having you read this. Bye! Happy Simming!

Cheese Buddy -

How did you get Bobby to eat birthday cake as an Elder?  I've tried clicking on a birthday cake to have my elderly Sim move on to death, but the option for that particular Sim doesn't come up.  It'll show everyone else who could blow out the candles, but not the elderlies.  How did it happen for you?

Very sad about Elise and Bobby.  I cried buckets.  And buckets.  (Not really.)

Well... I sort of just bought a cake and, like you said, when I clicked him the option didn't come up.  So I sort of... let's say... left the computer for about five minutes on high speed and came back to find a tombstone.  Sorry about that, but I was trying to make it dramatic.  He was close to death and I sometimes exaggerate. Sorry!

(I'm really sorry for lying :( ) (Next time I do something like that, I'll make sure I put in a wink wink nudge nudge or something.)

Sorry again! :( I'm so naughty!  :(  :o

P.S. I cried baths.  And baths! (wink wink nudge nudge).
P.P.S.  Next post soon, and this time I won't lie or exaggerate!

Ok, I see.  So the birthday cake didn't really make him die.  No worries and thanks for clarifying!

Hellooooo! This isn't going to be a very long update, but I just found my notes so here's what I've got so far:

Karlii was working on the garden, making lots of plants to harvest. I let her go fishing a lot, too. She had a fishing level of 4. She caught some nice ones and I was working on it to try for level 10. I've never reached more than level 6 fishing before. So it would be great to be able to make some Ambrosia. Then I can have her and Jerry live happy long lives. Hopefully I'll reach that before they become Elders so they can stay adults for many years.

Ronald was keeping the house funny. He made me laugh sometimes. I laughed at him, not with him. He didn't seem to get promoted. I didn't bother trying to make him work hard. I just left him to work how he wants.

Jerry finished his first book, although I can't remember what the subject was. I find it annoying that Romance novels sell for the most because personally I'm not big on the subject. In my life, I don't bother really thinking about that stuff. It just flows through my big head. Fancy dinners, flowers and heart chocolates are just presents. I promise for my wife's next birthday I'll try to do something nice.... TRY to do something nice.

Anyway, that's pretty much all I have. So, have fun playing Sims and vote on the poll. So far Frog is in the lead, so if you don't like that name, vote quick!

By the way, I have some questions and it would be great if anyone has any information:

Can you take babies/toddlers/kids fishing? I've never tried that before. It would be great fun having your kid playing around on the beach or even fishing themselves with their parents.
Also if you use Amberosia many times can your kids grow up to be Adults while their parents are Adults still? Can they die of old age before their parents? This would be very interesting, but I've never got to level 10 cooking, fishing or gardening and I think you need all of those.

Thanks for reading. Happy Simming Ya'll! Bye!

[Edit:  These are great questions!  Would you please start new topics for them under the Miscellaneous Help section.  Thanks much!  -Pam]

I get extremely attached to my Sims and death was the hardest part of playing my Legacy family.  I made the lot across the street into a private family cemetary, which helped because they didn't go far and I got to see their ghosts coming out at night without going all the way to the town cemetary.  Another thing I did was, once the challenge was done (I had gotten the 10th generation born), I brought my founder's ghost back to life with the Science Facility opportunity.  Then I fed her Ambrosia and brought her all the way back.  Now she gets to live in the huge mansion that her family built over the generations and she is part of the family with her decendents.  I couldn't do any of this during the challenge because it was against the rules.  But once the challenge was done, I felt I could do whatever I want!  I've got a few posts about it in my blog, if you'd care to read it.

That's awesome, Pam! I've read your whole legacy and it's AWESOME! It made me sad, happy, lonely, full of excitement and eager for more. Your writing makes me so attached, not only more to my Sims, but to yours. Thank you, Pam, for your great tips and I'll be sure to add those questions to the miscellaneous help questions! Thanks again!
P.S. - I think it's really great you talk to all the members and help them with their guides. It's great to see people who really care about their members. If I could recommend any website about Sims, it would definitely be yours and I'd make sure they went to the forum. Thank you for being great, kind and nice to me and everyone else. You make the experience on this website fun and exiting. :)

Oh and by the way, that's a really good idea bringing back the original owner when you finished the legacy. I will definitly do that. If you were a Sim, you would most certainly have the Genius trait! :)

Pam! Help! I accidentally made the fishing question a poll, and I just wanted it to be a question. If you can, could you get rid of the poll part? If you can't, that's ok but it's the first question I've done and I didn't actually realize I was making a poll until I sent it out to the world.
Sorry for the trouble!

[Edit:  I wasn't able to remove the poll, but don't worry about it.  Carl might be able to do it from his end.  -Pam]
