I would really like to see the seasons again as well, although some of the houses that were build in Sunset Valley and Riverview are not weather proof!!  I also agree on the music, the guitar just does not quite cut it.  I would also like to be able to go into some of the buildings that they no longer allow you in.  It used to be you could go into the restaurants with the Sims while they dined.

They improved this a little with World Adventures.  Your Sim can go into the stores and buy items from the clerk at the register.  Your Sim can also sit at a table and eat a meal at the cafe.

This isn't the experience I have? Is it a patch in World Adventures, or was it included with the expansion pack to begin with? My Sims still disappear into the shops and restaurants of Sunset Valley. However, the shops and restaurants of the 3 destinations, I can walk in to, if that's what you mean.

I think it would be nice if they had different goodbye animations for sims depending on their relationship with the other sim. I first thought this when in my legacy family the son that declared his father his nemesis and told him to leave his party after arguing with him they casually waved goodbye to eachother with a small smile. I was like "Uhh, you two HATE each other! There's no smiling!"

So something other than the standard goodbye wave could be nice. Like a glare and then the sim huffs off with her arms crossed and nose up in the air. Just *something* different.

I'd like that as well, Arafel. And it makes a lot of sense. Heh, wouldn't you have been pleasantly surprised if your Sim son had just decked his old man and said, "How do you like that goodbye, pops?"

Not to mention the goodbyes from someone at level 10 Martial Arts.... Now THAT would be one heck of a "HASTA LA VISTA... BABY!"  <Flying Roundkick to the head>

LOL!!!! Personally, I'd prefer the Flying Forward Bicycle Kick like that of Liu Kang from Mortal Kombat. I see the sims do that move whilst sparring and it makes me chuckle  :D

This is a nice goodbye animation from my Martial Arts Master walkthrough —

I believe the proper term for this finishing move is, "Poo poo platter face kick."

Well, when I got the base game and saw the launcher, which I love, I saw so much potential and I really wished they'd maximized on it. It means the end to expansion packs! Not that they wouldn't have them; I suspect that my idea would promote content production by a lot by providing instant customer feedback and rewards.

The idea would be like the stuff on the exchange, except it wouldn't be "objects", it'd be things like "Temperature". So for $2.50 they'd sell temperature, or for $10, you can get temperature and related paraphernalia and things, while for $20 they'd sell the seasons as well and stuff. I made up numbers, but it'd be that kind of thing. So you would download it directly from the launcher and never have to buy an expansion pack- you could even buy parts of expansion packs. (example- If you really liked China but were not interested at all with Egypt, you'd just buy China) This could, indeed, get complicated, but I think they could work it out.

In a specific mention, I'd like to say that I'd like to see something that's very different than what one would expect- I want to see injuries. I know that's weird, but my first character in the base game was Dr. House, who has a limp. I couldn't put in the limp and I was disappointed. I don't think injuries have that great a marketing value, but if they implemented the system that I outlined in the first part, I feel like things like injuries and disabilities would become more of a feasible thing.

They should definately bring back some of the other expansions from previous Sims games.Seasons was awesome in TS2 and I would love to see how beautiful rain and snow could be with the lovely graphics in TS3.I miss having pets, apartments and hobbies...with the new trait system you could have some very interesting hobbies(I keep imagining Jared Frio on an epic quest to set fire to every garbage can in Sunset Valley)The ability to travel between neighborhoods would be great as well.....like if a family moved out of Sunset Valley, you could find them in Riverview(and vice versa)except not everyone has Riverview.
One expansion that was pretty cool was Superstar...you could expand the music career and also have acting and directing careers as well, and if you were really good, you could star or direct a movie that appaears at the playhouse. They could even put a blurb about it in the newspaper.
I hope with the new expansions they add more careers. There just isn't enough to choose from, and I want my education career back!

You and Carl both. My money's on EA throwing a hut tub in the upcoming stuff pack.

Don sounds like quite the romeo. If he ever hooked up one of Pam's ultra-fertile females, there would be some severe overpopulation issues.

Pffftt.  He was being mean to one of my teenagers in the pool today.  I think he's hot headed or mean spirited or something.

this sounds like the weirdest thing ever but i think that teens don't have enough societal interactions
i would like for my teen sim (whos traits are family oriented flirty hopeless romantic and great kisser) to be able to have a baby with her boyfriend without downloading helpermonkey or whatever. that may sound bad, but
I WANT PREGNANT TEEN SIMSi also want the babies to be clothed
i want baby accessories: changing table, stroller, pram, swing, jolly jumper, carrier, carseats, etc
i want inter-age group relationships-- aforementioned teen has her eye on a young adult-- theyre best friends but she just turned teenager so we'll see how this turns out
i want more options with babies/toddlers/kids with adults. babies and toddlers have "no interaction" but it would be cool if you could have them cry on command or something

EA is not guaranteeing teen motherhood but it is a possibility

A lot of the stuff you said seems to conflict a lot with the generic WASPy conservative thing. I'm not saying that EA is pandering to them or anything, but it could have to do with ratings and, yes, marketability. The day the Sims is generally thought of as a game that promotes immorality is the day that zombies roam the earth, and I think EA is not a fan of zombies (although that could be okay for an expansion pack or something).

It's absolutely about marketability.  EA designs the game targeted at the lowest common denominator.  There are people who would refuse to buy the game if it was highly immoral, but there are very few people who would refuse because it's not immoral enough.  They will do whatever makes the most money.  It's just that simple.

Also, if you're going to quote something, it's a good idea to identify who you're quoting.

I was reading through this thread and the last few posts got me thinking. TS3 does seem to be more kid friendly than TS2... especially the romantic interactions. Teens don't have as many as they used to, and there is no "goose" interaction, which I always thought was kind of cute. Makeout is very tame and so is woohoo. I'm not complaining, it's just something I noticed when I was playing.
They really, really, really need to fix the borked routing. The foot tapping is driving me batty. I also find it kind of irritating when adult sims throw a tantrum when someone is sitting in a chair they want when there are 5 other chairs to choose from. It's like TS1 all over again.

I agree with Simbacat that there are not many interactions for teens, but it really applies to kids in general...not much to them so I don't really play families with kids.  It was fun when the kids could torment each other and give noogies.  The "goose" interaction was cute...hopefully some new interactions will be added as new EP's get released.  :)

There's some relatively new interactions between child and toddler.  The child can now give a toddler a bottle.  They can also hug and play peek-a-boo, which is completely adorable!

I would really appreciate it if there was some way to find out the age of sims that weren't in your household. Several times now I have had one of my (often young adult) sims get to know someone in the town in the hope of marrying them - they look the same age, but when they finally get married and I go to start my family, I find out that they are due to age up to elder in a couple of days time! Very frustrating, particularly if they are a female and I was hoping for several kids.
Does anyone else have this problem?

The best way to find out their age ranges is to throw a party.  Their age group (Young Adult, Adult) will show up with their name on the party invitation screen.  It won't give their exact age, but at least it helps a little to know their range.

Another improvement that I think would be really great is if there was a lifetime reward for 'faster gardening'; this has to be the longest chore in the game.  ::)

My main issues are largely UI ones. The queue management could be improved - if my sim starts an interaction, I'd like him to be able to finish it first when I add a new one, rather than it being automatically cancelled - after all, I can still click to cancel it. Similarly, being able to rearrange an existing queue would be a godsend.

Another thing is the lack of an autosave feature. I understand that many people would not want such a feature, but I've lost two long chunks of play by forgetting to save at regular intervals and the game crashing on me. I'd be happy with an optional pop-up prompt every 3 days asking if you want to save the game.

And it's a shame they didn't add a museum with WA. I'd have loved to have been able to take archaeology as a career for my Joneses, or even as a skill, with challenges such as "Explorer - has completely explored x tombs" or "Curator - has donated x items/$x worth of items to the museum".

Actually, on the subject of careers, an academic one would have been good too. At say level 6, you can diversify into Music Teacher (Music skill), PT Teacher (Physical skill), Lecturer (Logic skill)... And you'd get to work at the same time your kids were at school :)
