No... This is when I just had the Base Game and WA. I have no idea where it came from, but I considered it a blessing from the Sim god, and because it was not a challenge, I bought some nice stuff for it.

They're right, Metro. It happens randomly in the game. It doesn't have to be Fast Lane to be the value of a car that's given to the player. In fact, I think mine happened before Fast Lane. No idea how to fix it. I think it's something EA has to handle.

Yeah, we can't obviously. If someone does catch it in-game during this event, then the best solution is what has already been mentioned — purchase an item equivalent in value to the "gift" and then dump the gift in family inventory.

No, you don't have to be level 7 in gardening.
I asked a question about this a little while ago, and the (wonderful) people on the forum let me know it was because my inventory was too full.
Maybe try emptying it a bit and try it again

About the random money - could it be an "inheritance"? I noticed one time that a best friend of my sim died and I got a bunch of money all in one day. The death was in the paper but I never got a notice of inheritance. I just figured that was where the money came from and went on. I did not have fast lane at the time. (it was not a challenge game either)

I don't think so. There's never been any mention of inheritance like that. It's just a bug of some sort

EDIT: Your math is good, the only thing (microscopic, I admit) is I do not want players to round any more. You rounded up. I want all players to just eliminate the decimal completely. That was a recent rule change and you may have missed it. But, the leaderboard score will be 713,526.

Sorry about that, I did read that rule change. I actually have a spreadsheet where I just entered the numbers and it did the calculations. I forgot to set the formula to round down, instead just set it to reduce the decimals to 0.

It took 21 real time hours but it feels good to finish something. Now I get to start planning out how to approach the next one...

This has likely been asked somewhere in the previous 24 pages, but I can't remember and want to be sure I'm not getting this ruleset mixed up with the Immortal Dynasty. Do fishing/gardening/cooking opportunities in the vacation destinations count? The rules say

Each different completed gardening, cooking/culinary career, and fishing opportunity also adds 1% to your Mult. Special opportunities and Celebrity opportunities do not increase the Mult and multiples of the same different fish/plant/recipe/opportunity do not count — it's a one time boost.

Travel opportunities aren't specifically mentioned there. My sim has just been offered an opportunity to catch fish in China and I want to be sure it's ok to go ahead with it. Thanks.

Maybe i sound ridiculous or I've not been looking for this much, but, please, could someone tell me if our sims can sign in as a self-employed sims? I'm really curious, because my sim popped out a wish to sign as a fisherman at the City Hall. Please help if you know the answer. Thanks in advance!

No. Not if simoleans are rewarded as a opportunity prize. The Grillathon is classified as a Special Opportunity.

Now, I understand 6 different varieties of pancakes equals one opportunity for making pancakes, but for fishermen there is catch 5,10,15,25,50 and100 fish for different fish. You get the number op depending on what fish you are currently fishing, ie, I have caught 3 tiger fish, (no such fish in game), and the op pops up "Catch 5 tiger fish". Later an op "Catch 10 tiger fish" pops up. Does this count as TWO ops or just take one. Also what if you caught your 5 tiger fish and now you are fishing for mahi mahi, (not in game), and you get the op to catch a multiple of 10 or more of this kind of fish, does the 10 for a DIFFERENT fish count as an op or can you only accept "catch (fill in the number" once?

I believe you are talking about wishes, not opportunities. There are no restrictions on wishes since those don't reward money. There's a nice list of the fishing opportunities at http://sims.wikia.com/wiki/Fishing_%28The_Sims_3%29#Opportunities

I thought wishes WERE opportunities? Or are opportunities ONLY the things you get when the phone rings?

@ Metro: kind of along the same lines, one of the plants you grow is Grapes. You can also grow VARIETALS of grapes, as in the special ones found in France. Do the varietals count as separate plants or because they are grapes only count as grapes, just as different kinds of pancakes only count as one pancake? Also, the pancake thing, isn't that a wish as opposed to an opportunity? (see above)

Archer0 is right, you're talking about "catch X number of fish as opportunities. Those are Wishes. Opportunities means a phone call. Have you been scoring completed Wishes to add to your multiplier?

The different grapes are completely different plants, so yes, you do get credit for each perfect grape plant. The pancake varieties are just that — varieties of the same named recipe, so you DO NOT get more multiplier for variations on the same recipe. This is covered already in the rules.

I realise this challenge has already started, but wanted to clarify something.

It states that harvesting of plants/seed finding can be done anywhere in town, but I would assume that you cannot sell these harvests, you can only sell plants harvested on your own lot?

Sorry if this has already been asked but I just read through the rules and wanted to make sure.
