Just to be absolutely clear, we should write down the title of each opportunity we accept, so as to not count the same opportunity twice?

Absolutely. That's a very good idea.

Can we sell anything obtained by fishing, even non-fish?

Yep. Anything that comes out of the water is fair game. I've got my fingers crossed for a couple Bwan Speedsters. Who's with me on that one?

I'm with you on that one Metro!  ;D  Although, I'll settle for a couple gnomes, perhaps even a rubber duck.

Using this logic, I would assume that it's okay to sell seeds if you don't want to plant them?

Yes, that's fine. You're still doing a gardening activity (looking for seeds), so selling them is okay.

The rules state that all money must come from fishing, culinary career and gardening (along with sales). Does this mean that we can join other careers and professions, if we don't make any money (Such as interior designer)?

This question is due to a certain exploit with the architect career, rendering poeple able to buy any item for a 40% discount, restart the game, and sell the item for the normal price. (This is only when in the profession). Maybe that would count as sales not made from gardening/fishing/culinary career, but even so, this is something to remember for succeeding challenges.

Edit: I included this because I think this strategy will be banned, and thus doesn't count as tip sharing.

You shouldn't be allowed to join any career other than SE Fishing, SE Gardening, or Culinary because you would earn a salary. The professions pay out a weekly stipend and this would, in my mind, be considered income NOT from fishing, gardening, or cooking/culinary. By this logic, the architect profession and any exploit it might have is off limits.

Thanks for bringing this exploit to our attention.  Yes, consider it banned.

Metro, I thought I already read it somewhere, but do we have some kind of blanket ban on any known exploit for challenges next year?

Yes, a blanket ban exists on exploits and cheats. If someone were to do that architect exploit they would clearly be seeking a competitive advantage and would be cheating.

I'm looking forward to starting next year off with this challenge.  It's like a back to basics challenge.  It will be a lot of fun and a good break from my Dynasty playing.

One last thing: Is selling vegetables and fruit and fish from the grocery store at the consignment store allowed?

Absolutely not. That's not a gardening activity.

I've been doing a little bit of play-testing on this one, and have a quick question. With the addition of Late Night, I've found that it's almost impossible for my Sim to avoid becoming a low-level celebrity. Just by becoming friends with her boss and co-workers to progress in the Culinary career, she's already a level one celeb, and got bumped up to level two when one of the career opportunities also gave her celebrity points.

It's easy enough to decline the celebrity opportunities, and I'm not spending time trying to improve her celebrity status, but my question is about discounts and freebies obtained as a celebrity. Conceivably, there could be some savings on items that might need to be purchased from the grocery or bookstore. Should any of that impact scoring in any way, or since getting discounts seems to be  random, should it not matter? Additionally, what should be done with freebies sent to celebrity Sims? I'm thinking that at the very least they couldn't be sold to add money to Household Funds, but will they need to stay in the household inventory, or can they be placed on the lot if they're useful (appliances, etc.)? Thanks!

I assume like DaVinci we will not be allowed to sell any old furniture, certificates or delete walls. If thats the case, it is worth mentioning because its the sort of thing you do without even thinking about it.
I've been doing a little play testing and my poor sim has been burgled 3 times in 6 weeks! Good job she doesn't have the unlucky trait!

No, let's not worry about it.

Sure, there's no reason why you should not use them. You just cannot sell them to add to Household Funds.

I will.

That burglar is putting up roadblocks for the champ!  ;D

I realize that the vast majority of you are already quite familiar with the many Guide articles, but I thought it would be a good idea to put direct links to related articles that may help you with your prep work right in the rules on p. 1.

I've rechecked the rules in this thread and the general rules, and can't find anything about the moodlet manager.  Does that mean we're allowed to use it?

The moodlet manager is banned in all challenges...it's in the general rules for all challenges, right above the discussing strategy portion.

Under the same logic as selling non-fish gotten from fishing, can I sell the vampire gnome that shows up due to growing plasma fruit in my garden?  I think yes, but I wanted to double check.

Yep, that would make sense. If those specific gnomes are a direct result of gardening, then yes, you can definitely sell them. I was not aware of that myself as I have not planted any plasma fruit yet.

I know we aren't allowed to use the moodlet manager.  But I am wondering if the other lifetime rewards are allowed?

Thanks in advance
