My Bad!
« Reply #475 on: January 18, 2011, 03:52:22 PM »
Yes, I read the general rules, but there was a discussion upthread about whether or not you could sell the moodlet manager and I forgot that it's banned from challenges. So I inadvertently cheated. It's only a recent acquisition, but already it's done a fair amount of damage.

So a question for Tom:

I wrote down a score from week 8 or 9 that was before the cheating started. Can I use that, so I at least have a score?

Could you go back to an earlier save before you started using it? If not, then I don't know if I can accept any score given you don't seem very confident as to when you started using it.

I don't have an earlier save, but I know for sure that the score I wrote down was well before I started using the moodlet manager. I'm in the middle of week ten now, and only started using it a few days ago.

Okay, I'll take your word. Submit your score from when you know you did not start using the MM.

Okay, here it is! (And thanks, Tom. I didn't want to bow out completely, but it would have served me right...)

Household funds: $433,315
Perfect Plants: 28
Perfect Fish: 34
Perfect Meals: 21
Opportunities: 11

Modifier: 1.94 for a total score (if I did my math right) of 840,631. Near the bottom of the board, I think, which is a shame 'cause gardening's my favourite skill in the game. But it is my fault.  :'(

Hey, no problem. Thank you for your honesty. There are plenty more challenges for you to gain ground.  ;)

Thank you, Tom. I did learn quite a bit from this challenge--I'd never used the consignment store before, for one thing, and that's definitely on my list of favourites now. :) Also learned (too late for many abandoned games) how to get around the bug where you can't enter the grocery store with special seeds in your inventory.

Well, now on to the grandmaster challenge, which I'll need to practice seriously--I've never gone beyond tournament level 3 in Martial Arts, and never played a chess player at all!  :o

I know if something is not specifically banned then it is allowed but I would feel better asking. I know the moodlet manager is banned but can I use the hardly hungry, steel bladder, meditative trance, and dirt defiant, or any other lifetime rewards in this years tournament?

Unless it is specificly said in the extra rules for every challenge consider every other LTR fair game if you want to have them and got the points to spend on them.

Ok so I finished! I didn't do very good but I never do. I did have fun though and that is what matters so it's all good! This is my first time making Ambrosia and first time doing gardening and fishing for money so it was all a big learning experience for me.

Total funds: 301,502
Recipes: 36
Fish: 34
Plants: 28
Opportunities: 14

Multiplier 1.12 + 1=2.12

Total Score: 639,184

If I did the math correctly! I have never made this much money in a game before usually I am well under the 100,000 mark so I am quite pleased but now how I could have gotten a better score. Maybe I should start practicing first?

PM me because this can't be discussed in this thread, but I'll share you what it might be.

And I'm done:

Household funds: 3,391,595$

Meals: 36
Plants: 30
Fish: 34
Opportunities:20

36+30+34+20= 120  multiplier 2,20

total: 7 461 509

Hope I calculate it right, it could be better but won't complain :D

Thank you Metro, I didn't have luck with opps, and my 2 year old kept pressing 3. speed so I lost few days in total, but still this are one of my favorite parts of the game so I had to be good here. Not as good as you and Nancy but still not bad ;D

That must have been annoying. My little cousin used to press the switch off button all the time. Good thing I never used to play Sims 3 at the time. Your score is brilliant though :D Well done ;)

I'm finally done and boy did I learn a lot!  Reading all the Dynasty stories I kept wondering how in the heck everyone got their funds up to such high numbers....and I learned a lot of how by doing this!
Can't wait until the challenge is done so that I can read people's strategies and learn even more!  I love this site!

Household funds 756,078
Perfect Plants 16  Perfect Fish 20 Perfect Meals 12 Opps 7 = 55

Total = 1,171,920  (I think I did it correctly but wrote it all out just in case)  Thanks Metro!

Wrapped it up tonight, final numbers were:

Household Funds: 1,673,740
Perfect Fish: 34
Perfect Plants: 28
Perfect Recipes: 36
Opportunities: 16

Multiplier: 2.14
Score: 3,581,803

Seemed like I had some troubles getting opportunities, but I think I did well overall.  Looking forward to hear how Metro and the others on the top of the scores made it up there.  Thanks, and good luck!

Well, ADHC85 and Alsier — you guys just made my day. After I entered your scores in the leaderboard, I sat back and looked at the length after just a little more than two weeks of this event being live and thought, "Wow...great participation." In fact, I checked the Challenge Hall of Fame sticky to see the numbers for last year's events and the Random Wishmasters Quartet was the high water mark for 2010, 41 participants. Guess what? :) As of this moment there are 42 players that have submitted scores in this event!

I am so happy with that fact! :) It's great to see this forum growing like it is every day. Phenomenal. You guys are the best. Thanks to everyone who's played in this so far and submitted scores. You just made old Metro a bit misty-eyed. ;)

:D Awesome!  I'm glad I found this forum, it's really enriched my gameplay, taught me a lot, and is just all around fun.  My tests for the next challenge aren't showing much promise, but I plan to finish the race even if I lose it.   ;D  Participation badge for the win!  LOL.
