I know we aren't allowed to use the moodlet manager.  But I am wondering if the other lifetime rewards are allowed?

Thanks in advance

Definitely. As always, if something is not banned, take that as your green light to do something.

Yep, that would make sense. If those specific gnomes are a direct result of gardening, then yes, you can definitely sell them. I was not aware of that myself as I have not planted any plasma fruit yet.

Yes, it's true.  The vampire gnomes show up when you have three plasma plants.  According to the Prima Guide, that's the only way you get them.

Sorry for another question...

I was just wondering if vacation days count towards your 12 weeks.  I assume that they do but I just want to make sure of this.

Thanks for any responses :)!

Vacation days are counted separately just by the nature of the game.  The game clock stops while you're on vacation and starts again when you return home.  So, you need to keep track of how many vacation days you take and make sure you don't take more than is allowed.

Moving to another lot and back to one you lived on before is allowed? And gardening is allowed on every lot in the neighbourhood?

Boy, am I glad you brought this potential exploit to my attention because I had forgotten about this. Yeah, look for a clarification from me later today. I may even restrict moving in this event simply because of this exploit.

----------

EDIT: I jumped on this right away in case some sneaky players are basing their whole strategy around the potential exploit to move around and essentially harvest multiple lots. A huge thanks to ik for reminding me of this. Well done. It's not so much that I look at that practice as "bad." It is what it is, but some players just would never have thought of doing that, and I'd rather base scores simply on forcing players to garden on one lot. Then, there's no question about what's allowed. So, the following two rules were just added:

  • Moving is not allowed.
  • Gardening can only be done on your home lot.

----------

EDIT 2: Now it occurs to me I'll somehow have to consider what players can do while on vacation, so I'll think about that and add it soon.

Just to see if i understand this correctly: My sim is not allowed to harvest fruit at the park, in their neighbour's garden or on vacation? They have to collect seeds and buy fruit (home and vacation) for each type of plant they want to grow?

I just need a bit more clarification.  Lets say, for simplicities sake, my Sim took one vacation day.  Would the challenge still end on Week 12, Day 7, 11:59 PM or would it end on Week 12, Day 6, 11:59 PM?  I'm pretty sure it would be Day 7 still from what I understand but I could be wrong?

What about harvesting wild plants?

I agree that no moving makes sense but I think cutting out wild plants eliminates picking up a death flower from the graveyard and every seed will have to be bought at the grocery store.

On vacation the only harvesting available is on neighbors lots and in the tombs since vacation houses can't be bought until level 3 (which I know you are thinking through).

The number of vacation days you take does not change when the challenge has to stop. It stops when the game clock reads Week 12, Day 7, 11:59.

Good points. Thanks for addressing these. Yeah, seed collecting out in the wild is definitely okay. Let me ponder the wording a bit more so everyone is clear.

---------

Okay, this is the wording I now have....

  • Planting seeds can only be done on your home lot. Havesting/seed finding can be done anywhere in your town and on vacation.

So harvesting 'wild' plants and plants in neighbors gardens is ok?

I've already learned so many things that I didn't know practicing for this challenge.

Yes. You can only plant on your home lot — and that rule in combination with the no moving rule will prevent someone using the exploit. But, you can harvest anywhere in the neighborhood.

Ok, not meaning to muddy the waters, but my playtest Sim thought, "wow!  If I OWN the fishing holes and improve the property, would that count as money toward my total?"  Technically you could stay in the wild on a fishing spot and if you own it you could even build a shelter/house there which means you could fish and farm right in your own backyard.  As long as you don't "live" there, (because you would have to move to be able to do that), would this be legal?  Basing this thought on the fact that anything you catch fishing is ok for sale so why not owning the fishing spot being ok for bringing in funds?

Also, is total value, (including home lot and house), part of the final money you have or just cash in hand?
What?  Grannies can't play games?

I was just wondering about how 'different recipe' is defined, I'm guessing that it has to actually be from a different recipe book or skill up recipe, not by name, but wanted to check.

Ok, just had another thought of something might need clarifying.  In your basic rules you state we can add, bars, firestations, basically everything not included in particular towns via edit town mode before we start to play.  There are some towns that either have no gardens to harvest from, (BP), or have no community gardens, (SV, BB and BP).  Can we place a game built community garden in the gardenless towns?  There are scattered wild or on a home lot gardens in SV and BB, but only TB and RV have actual community gardens.

I'm not sure how you made that leap in judgement.  ;) It's apples and oranges, really. Owning property results in investment income. Sure you could fish on property you owned, but investment income does not qualify for this challenge.

Also, is total value, (including home lot and house), part of the final money you have or just cash in hand?

Household Funds only (cash on hand). House and lot value are not involved in scoring.

No, it is by name. For example, Key Lime Pie, Waffles, Cobbler, Cookies, Frog Legs, Sushi...they're all different recipes (by name). So, for each different Perfect recipe you make, you can add to the multiplier.

[edited — MM] And no custom made lots are available. Only libraries, and bars. You can harvest wild plants in every town, some had gardens but even in SV you can harvest almost all plants around town.
Aiwe, in skill journal you can see all recipes your Sim can make, just scroll down after the skill challenges. Some you learn by skilling and some must be learned from books, or other available ways. You have to keep a track of meals that your Sim prepeared in perfect quality since it is not showed in journal (best to write in biography chapter).

@Anushka — your specific recommendation to Joria needed to be edited. That's specific strategy you were offering and cannot be allowed.

As for the mult is the increase from 1.00 to 1.01 or 2.00?

I assume what Aiwe meant by 'by name' vs by recipe is that a single recipe can create several different named dishes. Eg. from the pancakes recipe you can make Apple Pancakes, Flame Fruit Pancakes, Grape Pancakes etc - and for all of those you can make Organic versions and meat recipes also have vegetarian options all of which have a different name when you look at the meal produced.

How about you find out that information elsewhere on the forum instead of asking for help right in the challenge thread? C'mon, Anushka. You're 0 for 2 today.

Ah. If that's the case, then I don't want to get to that extreme. Just look at variations of one recipe as still being the SAME recipe. Apple Pancakes and Grape Pancakes are still just pancakes.

As for the mult is the increase from 1.00 to 1.01 or 2.00?

1% = .01. So, you'd go from 1.00 to 1.01.

Say for instance you make perfect pancakes does that mean you cannot count them again. Or if you catch a perfect shark you cannot count anymore you catch.
It was the following quote that made me think this:

No, it is by name. For example, Key Lime Pie, Waffles, Cobbler, Cookies, Frog Legs, Sushi...they're all different recipes (by name). So, for each different Perfect recipe you make, you can add to the multiplier.

The multiplier is boosted ONE time for each different perfect plant, recipe, and fish. So, 15 perfect pancakes and 20 perfect sharks still results in a multiplier boost of 2% (.02).

So was that, yes you can add a game made, (made by EA not a member),  community garden, (as in copying the TB Community Garden and placing it on a lot in a gardenless town), or no just deal with it?
