Check for adventure
« on: December 02, 2010, 08:48:44 AM »
I don't know whether this problem occurred after installing Late Night or not.
Once my sim travelled to other countries and tried to check for adventure at the board outside base camp. However, no dialog box about the adventure pop-out! ???

Any mods or CC? My sims just went to France and they could obtain adventures.

Several threads mentioning this problem ... some people have it, some don't.  Nothing to do with LN, it possibly came with a patch (we just have WA and Amb).

Egypt and China can be intermittent.
France can be completely useless ... possibly a small adventure on the third click, then absolutely nothing.

Having struggled with this one for ages, using different (and new) families, my WA game (like yours) is incomplete/broken.  All I can say is that I'm positive and upbeat that EA will eventually fix this.   ;)

You only have the problem in France?  That seems to be the standard problem.

I'm just doing a complete re-load of TS3 and EPs to see if that de-bugs it.  Just posted in the Technical Forum.  ;)

I have the exact same problem. China and Egypt is fine (for now), but in France I've only been able to complete my adventure from China and one major adventure (Landgraab Mansion), plus one smaller one (searching for Titanium) on an 18-day trip.  :(
Thing is, I completely re-installed my Sims 3 + WA AFTER the patch was released (since my comp had been suffering from a broken hard drive which is now replaced), I even had to re-install it again because the patch wouldn't download properly the first time, so I don't think a new re-install will help. I only have one family (two different saves, one for home and one for adventuring) which was made after I re-installed it. No custom content or mods, but I think it's already very clear that this is a game bug and not caused by any third parties.
EA definitely must fix this. What's the fun in adventuring if you, uh, can't get any adventures to do?

Try, try, try and try again. If that doens't help; sleep a night an try again the next day.
My sims has soffer the same thing, they got more luck the next day however.

It seems to be variable, and not everyone is getting the same results.  I agree the "new day" seems to help a little, but I've just sent an experienced explorer [all he needs is the last 2 adventures at the Nectary.  The results of clicking the board for 2 days were ....
Day 1 = 010000000000000
Day 2 = 001000000000000

At this point we gave up and sent him home.  However, we have created a new family, and so far the Board seems fine, so it may be caused by some sort of corruption to existing family files/logs.

I'm getting some adventures in France, however they're tombs my Sim has already done (this was a family before the patch), and now they have seemed to reset themselves.  Other than that, I can't get any new adventures, except "On Patrol."  I can't finish it though, my Sims can go through the tomb, but they can't get the remains out of the hole, it just says it's empty.

I really hope the next patch fixes this.

Quick update after a game reload ... we sent a new Sim to France for 3 days.  The Board worked just fine, no problems at all and the 'expected' collection of adventures.

However, after the 2-day gap, we sent her to France again.  The results for each day [she's still there at the moment] were:
00001
1000000000 [we cancelled the first offer, as she'd done that on the previous visit]
000001
1

So - definitely broken in France!

I don't really understand your tesings Slingsby, but I can say that it would be difficult for sims to get adventures while another sim in the same family has already explored a lot of tombs before him. It looks like it bugs the adventures the new explorer can do or so. And that really bugs me.

Hello, Leto ... perhaps I should have explained my 'testing' results a bit more.  Using binary notation, where 1 = yes and 0 = no, the figures show whether the board gave an Adventure or not.

So:

Day 1 = 00001 [it took 5 clicks before getting an adventure]
Day 2 = 1000000000 [we cancelled the first offer, after which no Adventures were offered]
Day 3 = 000001 [it took 6 clicks to get an Adventure]
Day 4 = 1, 0001, 00001, 001 [i.e. she got 4 adventures on day 4, but only after several 'failed clicks']

The Sim doing this testing is from a new [EA-created] family, which we started after re-installing the game.  No previous exploration anywhere, and only going to France at the moment.

Now I don't really understand all the discussion here. I had this issue with my dynasty explorer, she did almost all adventures in China and was on her way to France for Dragon Cave key. Once there opportunity disappeared, and I returned her back home. After that, she got one last big adventure in China (Terracotta army tomb) only after several clicks on adventure board. And never got that Dragon Cave one again, so now she only miss one china tomb symbol >:(. She went to Egypt and no problem at all, board is fine, did all exploring available. Not shore about France, haven't send her there still. It is obviously a bug, since adventure board is not behaving as it used to.

Ah, okey! That is a clever way of typing things down. Does sure decrease the amount of words you need to use otherwise. Long live the binary 0 and 1. ;)

Did you get the game used? Because that sounds like a pirate copy problem. Or just a glitch either way hope it gets fixed!

If that's for me, I assure you it's 3 proper, purchased, licensed and registered disks.  ;)

No CC either, apart from a few free bits from the EA Store.

In case the question was for me I can say that Slingsby and I share the same answer. Totally legal games, all of them. Which is logically, in my opinion, because if you are a fan of the game you should buy it. Yes, I am a bit against piracy actually. :P

I have had NO problems with the Adventure Boards in any of the countries, or with any of my games, until last night my Vampire Sim Adult Male went to France and could not get an adventure to pop up for all of 5 days.  I clicked and clicked to no avail  :(.  His Vampire YA daughter was with him and an adventure popped up for her on the first try.
My games are all legally purchased and I am fully patched up.  I also have no mods in my games.
I am going to try it again tonight with another family to see what happens.

And have you tried it with having success? In my game the only solution is just clicking the board the next day. No other thing that may help.
Btw, I had this problem times before Late Night came out, so it does not have to be the problem your adventures are vampires.

Side question: Does it really matter for them to sleep in tents during the day? Or do they sleep in tombs where the sun can not shine through?

Yes, I have tried it again with another family and no problems.  I also tried him on a different trip and he still couldn't do anything.  He made it to level one but I think that is as far as he is going to go.  He has no problems in the other two countries - at least not yet  ;D.

For your side note:  His wife has a level 3 VISA so they own a home in France.  He stays in the home during the day or else he is in the museum, nectary or one of the stores.  He does sleep in the tent during the day in Egypt unless he is at one of the stores or is visiting a tomb.  The tents are sunproof - lol!  He is also an author so he writes plenty of books during the day while traveling  ;).

I'm having the exact same trouble. It's terribly hard to get an adventure, and even when I get them they're only minor ones, or the ones my sim already completed. I've sent my sim 3 times to France already waiting for the Nectary Cellar (or whatever it's called in english hehe) oportunity to show up with no success. China works perfectly, and I haven't sent him to Egypt yet but I hope it works fine. Sleeping a night will sometimes help in France but it seems a little random to me. My game and all 3 expansion packs are original, properly purchased, installed, registered and fully patched up. I had never had this bug before Late Night (it actually started yesterday), but I guess that might have been just luck. I have no mods, just some CC... but everyone seems to be having the bug, with or without CC, so I doubt that's the source of it.

Is there a specific time of the day when the board sort of 'resets' itself and new opportunities show up? if so, maybe we could just wait until then to check for new adventures. Or maybe just go to Edit Town and build  new base camp with a new opportunity board... that fixed my consignment store at least.

My Sim I mentioned earlier in this thread has no problem with opportunities showing up in both Egypt and China.  He is now an elder and the Adventure Board in France still will not work for him.  His wife, a non-vampire, has no problems and both of his children, who are vampires, have not had any problems (they are both level 3 now).  His son is married with a non-vampire wife and a YA vampire son and both the wife and son receive adventures.

It seems to only be a problem with this particular vampire Sim in France.  I have tried resetting him and also have taken everything out of his inventory and he still can't receive an adventure in France.  He will stay at level one forever.  :(

I think it's just random. My sim was lucky enough to reach visa level 3 in France before the board got bugged. He also got to explore 6 tombs there - enough to complete his LTW. His wife is level 1 and has not been able to get a single adventure in France ever, but their daughter doesn't seem to be affected by this issue. Maybe it's one of those random bugs that affect only some sims or savefiles. Not like the excavation bug for example, which seems to affect all of them.
