Where do I find Tiberium?
« on: December 06, 2009, 11:00:31 AM »
One of my sims bought three pieces of Tiberium somewhere, but i have no idea where i bought it.
I read that you should buy it by the Egyptian Relic salesman, but when i cheked with my other family there wasn't a trace of tiberium.
And is the Tiberium poisoning lethal?

Can someone help me?

It's from Egypt. The relics salesman doesn't have the same things every day so you have to be lucky. I've also found it on the ground in Egypt.

You can also get it randomly by breaking space rocks on the board breaker from China.

And is the Tiberium poisoning lethal?

Don't think so. Not for a long time anyway. Just remove it from your Sims inventory when they get home and the sickness goes away.

----------------------------------------------------

I've got another question about Tiberium. Does Sims have to keep it in the inventory until they get sick in order for it to turn into a crystal?

You have to send it to the gem cutter and then put it in your garden.
Then it becomes bigger and the value is increased by about 30000 simoleons.
It will spawn new Tiberium if you wait long enough.

No, the thing is it can turn into a crystal on it's own so you don't have to spend the money getting it cut. I've had that happen before, I'm just not sure how long it takes because I only noticed it when my Sim got sick. I removed it from her inventory and a few hours later it had become a crystal worth 40.000 or so. :o

Cool, I haven't tried that. ;D

I guess I'll just have to keep trying for tiberium...can't find it on the ground in Egypt and can't find it to buy it in Egypt.  :P

This is SO COOL! That happened last night when Lara got the wish to break 150 boards. I had her practicing, and voila! There it was on the ground next to the  board!

Not sure if people know this, but Tiberium is from EA's Command and Conquer series. It's cool that they have little easter eggs like that.

Yep one of my walkthroughs was Tiberium Wars, I used to play it every night after work (i sucked but it was a blast).

Anyway, I'm working on getting this gem so I can put it into the guide. The collecting guide is seeing major updates. Thanks for the intel, people!

By the way I have a pink diamond already but 0 tiberium, so this stuff's gotta be the rarest out there... It's interesting Thom found it in a store

Carl, just break a ton of those space rock boards and you will come up with some tiberium.  I have found it in Egypt once though, but now just use the breaking boards technique.   ;D

Okay, now I've bought Tiberium from the relics merchants in both China and France. So you can get it in all three locations.

I like to check in with the relics merchants once a day anyway because they keep getting new stuff and some of it is pretty cool like keystones, relics from collections, gems and metals.

Okay, so I found Tiberium on ground in Egypt by the southern beach area(?).  Anyway, was very excited, sim got home and I put the 2 pieces out in the garden and so far it's been a week and not a thing has happened.  :P

I read somewhere there has to be at least 1 tile around it so it can grow.  Is this right?

It wouldn't be unusual for me to have the only Tiberium in the game that doesn't work.  :P :D

You mean that it doesn't turn into a crystal?

What I have found is this:

I put the Tiberium in the Sims inventory and nothing happens. I put the Tiberium on the ground and still nothing happens. I put it in inventory and travel and within a few hours of arriving at the new destination the Sim will get the nausea. Then I put it on the ground and within a day or so it will turn into the 40.000 simoleon crystal.

There are only a few times where this hasn't happened, maybe I found the Tiberium immediately before traveling? You can see it's about to turn when it shoots green sparks, if it doesn't do that nothing will happen. Then I put it back in inventory and the next times she travels it turns. I've never sent it to the gem cutter because I'm cheap and it will happen on it's own. ;D

I have yet to see it spawn new Tiberium though, maybe I haven't waited long enough.

I've had some Tiberium that didn't change, too.  I couldn't figure out why some pieces would change and others wouldn't.  I'll try that traveling thing.  And...  Carl and I have just about decided that it doesn't multiply.  Neither of us could make it happen.  Lastly, if you send it to be cut, it doesn't come back worth nearly as much as when it changes on its own.  You really only barely break even after spending the money to get it cut.

Yeah, it took me a while to notice but I'm fairly sure about the traveling. It happens all the time, just a few hours after traveling the Sim gets sick. But not every time. I once found four pieces of Tiberium in Egypt. As soon as the Sim got home she got sick so I put all four pieces on the ground. Three turned into a crystal, one didn't. ???

More Tiberium weirdness:

I dragged a Tiberium crystal onto a tomato plant and it stuck. ???

I can fit 5 Tiberium on one plant. The Sim can harvest this plant and it puts the Tiberium in their inventory, then I can just put it back on the plant. It doesn't seem to do anything to their value, I had a Tiberium plant for weeks and nothing interesting happened. The only effect it seems to have is that when Sims harvest this plant it gives them temporary amnesia. They will stop what they're doing and everything drops out of the queue.

 ??? ???

I can put other gems on plants too by the way. But why would I want to... ???

Thanks guys...guess I'll just have to put it back in her inventory til it makes her puke.  :D  I must have taken it out too soon cause I didn't want her to be sick.  I'll just have to wait til she gets the nauseaous moodlet.  Hope it goes away as soon as you take it out.

I'll put it in the inventory and travel to a vacation home and put it there.  I was going to sell it anyway after it had changed cause with all the traveling and buying vacation homes, she needs the money.  ;D

It goes away after 2 hours. Then she will run and puke in the toilet. :D

I once removed the Tiberium from a Sims inventory when she was exploring a pyramid and after 2 hours she was way down on the lowest level. She ran all the way outside the pyramid to puke and there was nothing I could do to stop her. Akh! >:( What's wrong with puking in a pyramid?!? :D :D

Ok, so she traveled to China to her vacation home with the tiberium safely in her backpack.  She went to visit her friend and while she was there the nauseaous moodlet comes up.  I got her home just in time so she could throw up.  :P  I took the tiberium out of her backpack and put it in the garden and during the night the 2 pieces turned. (I just love those shooting green thingys.)  One was worth 38,000 simeoleons and the other was 40,000!:o  So I thought I'd just let them sit, maybe they'll multiply.  :D  After spending the night in a tomb, she comes home to find one is worth $466 and the other $360.  :o  Big lesson learned, don't be such a greedy gus...pick them babies up and cash them in.  I was upset cause she really needed the money.  Buying vacation homes in foreign countries are expensive.

LOL PJ.  Absolutely nothing is wrong with puking in a pyramid...do it all the time.  :D

Oh no! I've never had that happen, I've only had things lose value when Sims travel with them. This is just wrong. :(

I can't make anything happen with my Tiberium.  :-\

I kept it in his inventory until it made him sick and then I put it in the yard so it could grow. Nothing happened except that it would blow out these little green sparks every once in awhile. I left it out there for several days and finally stuck it back in his inventory and now he's sick again. What did I do wrong?

I think the longer you leave it in your Sim's inventory, the quicker it will turn once you take it out.  I left it in my Sim's inventory for several days and just let him have the negative moodlet.  It only took a day for it to change.  I'd say leave it in the inventory for awhile and try again.

I can only assume the tiberium that won't grow is cut. Be sure you're giving it plenty of room to grow as well. In testing, some of the tiberium never grew until moved all by itself.

Yeah I actually put it back in his inventory for only a little while....long enough for him to get sick again and moved it out and this time, two of them have grown! (he has 4 total) It was in his inventory for several days the first time, that's why I was surprised that nothing happened. (and no it's not cut)

Hmm, so it eventually grows when uncut... when I cut them, I had reliable 2-3 day growth times. I hadn't seen one grow when raw.

Really?  You're cutting all of yours?  For like $6,000 to get the spire cut?  And they grow more after that?

Really? I assumed it was supposed to be uncut....I never thought of cutting it. Oh and it grew IMMEDIATELY when I put it back out the 2nd time. You know how they throw up little green sparks? Well the first one I put out, burped up some sparks and turned into a crystal right away. The 2nd one did the same thing. I was waiting to see if the 3rd and 4th would sprout too, but they haven't yet.

Edited to add the screenshot:

Mine were all green and were coming from Space Rock block breaking. Interesting. I'll try to find some in the wild to test those too.

LOL "find some in the wild!"

I think these mostly came from breaking space rocks as well. But they look kinda greenish blue. I didn't realize they were tiberium when I first got the sim to pick them up because I thought they were either emeralds or topazes.

I never cut mine and they always turn into the 40.000 simoleon crystals. But - they seem to need to travel and also to have been in the Sims inventory for some time, couldn't say how long.
I just leave the raw gems in inventory until the Sim gets sick then take them all out. The ones not shooting the green sparks I put right back in inventory because they won't change, they need to "cook" a little longer or to travel again or something...?

I don't think there's any difference; the color is just weird. Sometimes it looks blue, sometimes green.

How to get Tiberium with transmuting?

If you're asking how to get Tiberium to transform from it's raw state to the valuable spire cut state, it's been discussed at length in this thread.  You just leave it in your Sim's inventory for a few days after your Sim gets sick from it.  Then you set it out somewhere and it will transform within a couple of days.  If you're asking something else, I don't understand your question.

I found my first piece in the asian region, in the shop that sells jars, relics, metals, etc

I found my second piece in my other family's home

("other family" meaning I create family A, played with them, then make family B, and now am currently playing family B)

Anyways, family A has that board-breaking thingo, and when I went over to visit, the dad was bashing meteorites in the backyard, and there were 4 gems around his feet, and one of them was tiberium

Found my third piece in egypt, underneath a tree... Came across it while I was fishing for mummy fish...

What I wanna know is, does it ever multiply???

I mean, I know it grows... From a little shard to a big one... But do small shards ever randomly sprout up from the ground around a bigger shard?

Cause that's what they do in command and conquer... They grow like... Errr... Rabbits? from outta space =S I suppose...

I'm kinda doubting that they do grow, cause I've had mine sitting on the grass for aaaaaageeeeees, and nothing has happened... I've even given one of my shards to another family to put on their lawn, to see if it would work, and another one in their basement... So far, nothing...

There have been plenty of rumors that they grow if you put them on the ground, but we haven't been able to prove it.  So, our official stand at the moment is that Tiberium does not multiply.

I have found some interesting things regrarding this gem that I thought I would share. Someone here (can't remember which post it was) said you put it in your garden. Did that. It grew, didn't double. Then, I went into buy mode, and picked it up. It let me place it right on top of a perfect Avornalino Grape. I thought ahh ok why not.

Waited 1 sim week, 1 day. Got irritated nothing was happening, tried to move it again.. guess what was on the ground? A perfect Avornalino Grape! Couldn't figure out why the hand icon was closed so when I hit escape, there it was. Been using it on my life fruit crops because I am working on nector making..I now have plenty. Apparently, it works much like the omni plant <?> I'm guessing? Dunno! All I know is WOO HOO!!  ;D KACHING KACHING! ;)

**EDIT** your sim will harvest the tiberium, so you have to wait until all fruits / garden is done being harvesting before putting it back. Kind of annoying!  :P

Hi Bogie!

I'm a little confused by your post.  You put the Tiberium directly on top of a grape plant?  And you got a perfect grape?  Or did you get multiple Tiberium?  And how exactly are you using it with your Life Fruit.  Sorry.  I just didn't follow that very well.

Sorry Paml! It's late, and even though I am tired I can't sleep. I think it was just a bug that resulting in duplications of the plants. In other words, I could take the spiral cut Tiberium, and place it directly over my plant. I went into buy/build mode. If I tried to pick up that plant, the hand would be closed. I hit escape. Next thing I know, I've got fruit of the plant I was trying to pick up now in the hand. If it was life fruit (that had not spawned, not 5 am) I would somehow have lifefruit on the ground! Let me see if I can duplicate it. I just quit, so I am going to see if it's still doing it..it might be a bugged game.. thought I was on to something there!  :-\

This is a little quirk that I found last night...Brooke, my little elder sim has an opportunity to donate 4 pieces of tiberium to science facility for study so naturally she has wish to go to Egypt.  I send her to Egypt and she can only find 2.  Dumb store never sells any when I'm there.  :-\

Anywho, she gets home and I take the tiberium out of her inventory cause I don't want it making her sick as she is going to go back to Egypt for more as soon as she can travel again.  I set it out on the lawn by the front door before she goes to bed and lo an behold, next morning, one piece had grown into a full blown crystal spire...no nausea, no green sparks shooting out, nada.  :o  To the devil with the dumb science facility, I cashed that baby in, $38,500 simoleons.  :D

I rather guess that this is a glitch...but I'm lovin it.  ;D

There's still a bit of mystery surrounding the transformation of Tiberium.  Does it have to be in your Sim's inventory until he/she gets sick?  Does your Sim have to travel with the Tiberium?  We don't know for sure.  It appears that the traveling with Tiberium was enough for it to transform in your case.  At the moment, I have a Sim who is getting gems from breaking Space Rock Boards and he's got several pieces of Tiberium from it.  It's been in his inventory for a long time, but isn't making him sick.  It doesn't transform when I take it out, either.  I guess he needs to travel with it.

After a certain amount of time (I think its like a day or more) It transforms from that raw chunk of rock and crud, to that shiny little spire... In raw form, I've never seen it make anyone sick... Only when it's transformed into a spire form, or if you've CUT it into some pretty little shape thingo, does it make your person sick...

*Opens a fancy bookie and slaps on scientist glasseseseses*

Ahem... Tiberium is an alien substance which absorbs its surroundings and grows, becoming more awesome... Meaning if you planted Tiberium next to a field of gold, iron, copper, or even a tree with fruits on it, then it'll absorb all of their properties... Because of this, Tiberium can be virtually turned into any mineral (Valuable building material, resources for energy) Through the right processing... It doesn't mean your brand new car will be a glowing green, they simply extract the safe minerals from the inside...

The way Tiberium absorbs things rapidly can be a path to death... If you had tiberium on your person, then it would eventually mold onto your skin... Through a series of months, it'll make its way through your cells to your blood stream...
Because of the awesomeness of the Tiberium, you will gain such things as a longer life, stronger muscles, a healthier body, basically because of the Tiberium absorbing nutrients, and your body uses it like a baby sucking on a mango...

Long story short, you will eventually BECOME tiberium... Meaning you won't be able to move... If you're lucky, your heart or your blood will crystalize before the rest of your body, and you'll die...

(Back to Sims 3) I've never had my sims die from Tiberium in their inventory... I'll keep on going and see what happens...

If they turn into a sim-sized Tiberium spike, and sell for millions, then I'm gonna have a lot of fun with the neighbours ;D

That would be cool. I've already turned several neighbors into mummies but I can't sell those... ;D

I'm with PJ on this one.  Tiberium can and does make your Sim sick in its raw form.  I believe this happens if your Sim travels with the Tiberium.  And yes, if you have the Tiberium cut, it will make your Sim sick if it's in his/her inventory.  I've recently discovered that you can cut the Tiberium into a Heart shape (vs. the small spire cut) and it will transform into the large spire cut once you remove it from the inventory.  For an investment of $1,000 for the Heart shape cut, you can end up with a $40,000 large spire cut Tiberium.

My bad, I guess I didn't hold onto the raw Tiberium long enough to get sick

I'm also wondering about that heart-cut method too...

Because the heart-cut is expensive, does it mean that it increases the value of the large spire?

If that were the case, then I wonder if giving it a skull-cut will increase its value...

I've only been able to see two cuts available for Tiberium:  Heart cut and Spire cut.  The Heart cut is expensive compared to the other cuts for regular gems, but it's much less expansive than the Spire cut ($1,000 vs. $6,500).  Both cuts will transform into a large Spire cut that's worth around $40,000.  I'm getting the Heart cut for all of mine.  I don't know about getting a Skull cut for Tiberium.  I think that's only available with transfigurification using the display stand.  It won't take raw gems, that much I'm certain.  I think I'll try to get 8 Heart cut Tiberium and see what they transfigure into.

You can get a skull cut Tiberium, but you will take a hit in value.  You will use the large spire cut, the small spire cut and heart cut all in tiberium and then a couple of other cuts from whatever other gem you want to add to it so that you have your 5 cuts for the skull cut.

I have tested many of the things said in here and I found out that you can't get the sickness from it raw, as far as I can tell, I haven't seen it multiply at all even on a plant, also the only way I have seen it grow is when it was cut, both cuts worked for me. Also I got a skull cut, that doesn't grow.

Tiberium will grow from its raw state if you travel with it.  For example, if you get a Tiberium in China and return home, your Sim will have the nauseous moodlet from having it in inventory.  When you remove it and set it out, it will transform into the large spire cut.

This is from my Expiriance with it....

 - Find it on Ground at Egypt
 - Or use Block Breaker with Space Rocks
 - Cut with heart (Not spire, waste of money)
 - Put it on a stand leave it for between a day - two days
 - Hover over it with mouse cursor
 - If it says Large Spire Cut Tiberium
 - Sell it.

Prices range from between 35000 - 45000 (Mine have, I think)

I think we've come to the conclusion that Tiberium doesn't multiply. No one has seen it happen as far as I know.

Don't trust everything you read on Wikipedia, a lot of it is complete nonsense. ;)

Alternatively, if you don't want to get nauseous and if you have a day at hand, leave your tiberium on the floor. It'll grow and you can sell it off straight away. I'm not sure if you leave back to home, the tiberium will be counted as mail left over which was managed to be picked up though.

I've never seen this work.  Any raw Tiberium I have when traveling just stays the way it is, even if I set it out while on vacation.

Ahh, it worked for me. The condition is, it must be cut. Don't just leave the uncut tiberium on the base home floor.

Ok, well, this has all been covered, I'm sure.  We've already talked about how it transforms from raw or cut.  It's just going to confuse people if we start over again with the explanations.

Ah, what I was actually trying to say is that you can leave spire cut tiberium on your base camp floor to let it grow into large spire cut tiberium during a vacation. =D

I did find something out though, had my sim put her tent up by the pond in Egypt where you catch the mummy fish,  why I took the large cut spire tiberium out of her inventory and put it on the ground, I will never know.  Could not pick it back up, so, there is a lone spire cut tiberium out in the middle of no where in Egypt, lol.

By far, the easiest way to get as much Tinerium as you need is to use the Dislay Table XL and put in "MIXED" items.  That means to mix up several types of transmutable items.  Gems, Metals, Relics, Space rocks etc.

Just make sure you have at least two different types on the table at the same time.  NOW add up all the values of the items on the table.  You want the total value to be between 3,500 and 4,999 for ALL the items.  When you hit combine, you will get a small spire cut tiberium.  Set it on the ground and let it sparkle for a little while and it will grow into a large spire cut worth between 30k and 45k simoleans.

If you save up 3 large tiberiums and then fill the table with other items (mixing types again) so that your total value is over 100,000 you will get a bottle of nectar worth 75,000 to 110,000.  This will rise in value about 2.5% per day if you have it in a fancy wine rack stored in a basement.  You lose a bit of value at the start, but before long, that bottle of nectar will be worth MUCH MUCH more as its value compounds similar to the compendium.

Actually, it's Tiberium, not Tinerium.  And it's a Display Table, not a Dislay Table.

I've found tiberium and used the spire cut on it. I put it on the ground and it stayed there for more than 2 game months. It still hasn't multiplied :/ Any suggestions? Should I place it on a stand or something?

Tiberium doesn't multiply, but it should grow.  It will go to a larger size and be worth about $35-40,000 or thereabouts.  It doesn't need to be any place special, just as long as there are free squares around so it has room to expand.  Are you saying yours wouldn't grow?

It did grow! It's wroth 39k and I'm just keeping it for looks :D
As for multiplying here's a quote:
"Spreading

Tiberium can "spread" as in multiply itself (which it does in the Command & Conquer series). This duplicated Tiberium behaves like an uncollected gem, so the player has to pick it up and put it back down before it can grow. The time it takes to do this is completely unconfirmed, though it appears to be somewhere in the region of 7-21 days."

The quote comes from the Sims wiki: http://sims.wikia.com/wiki/Gem_collecting

Now, the main problem is: is this true? Can Tiberium make more Tiberium or is it false? :/

Will put it this way, I have never seen in multiply as of yet and I am sure we have all played enough with these gems.  I have never even heard anyone say that they have seen it multiply.  Anybody can put anything on Wiki, so I tend to only believe what I have seen or believe it if there are screenshots or if someone else says it has happened.  I wouldn't hold my breath on it multiplying, because it does not.

The multiplying is probably wishful thinking, which is so believable because in the C&C series Tiberium does just that: multiplying! I've only seen it grow and sort of gave up on waiting for it to multiply. Besides breaking space rocks multiplies the number of tiberium in your possession much faster right? ;)

The bit about Tiberium multiplying is a false rumor.  I've seen it claimed, but never proven.  The claims of it only have the Command and Conquer information to back it up, which means nothing in Sims 3.

Too bad :/ It would be a nice feature. I don't mean cash, because it' so easy to get in this game.
My grown up tiberium (worth 45k) has been on the ground for ages and still nothing.

BTW My mummy broke several space rocks and did not get a single gem, even the cheapest. What's wrong?

How many boards had your mummy broken?  The chances of getting gems goes up after they've completed the Timber Terminator challenge (the one where they've broken at least 150 boards).  Even then, they don't get gems every time.  It seems to me that sims with the Disciplined trait are more likely to get gems, but I don't know if there's any confirmation of that point.
