week 1. started growing.
week 2. it grew huge!

week 4. nothing
week 5. nothing
week 6. nothing
week 7. nothing
week 8. nothing
week 9. nothing
week 10. nothing
week 11. nothing
week 12. got board and added more tiberium to see if that would make it grow.

I believed it depends on the tiberium. You have to cut it out a space rock yourself and than it can start growing. Inside or outside the house doesn't matter though.

We have always had Tiberium grow large in 24>48 hours, but we have NEVER had one produce offspring.  I think it might have been an early glitch, subsequently over-written by patches and EPs.  We stopped bothering after the same sort of timescale the OP mentions.

Yeah, but I wanted to conduct this test to Finnish off any remaining doubt.

I think it's always been just a rumor based on another game from EA that had Tiberium in it.  In that game (I don't remember the name), Tiberium did multiply, so those players assumed it would also multiply in Sims 3, which it did not.

You probably mean Command and Conquer. I've just Googled it.

I think so, if your game is up to date with the latest patch.

Tiberium is very hard to find in the wild.  I have much better luck in the Relic Shop, Consignment Store, and from breaking space rock blocks.

Since I don't have World Adventures, my only hope of getting Tiberium is the consignment store.

Wait, you can get Tiberium from the consignment store even without World Adventures?  :o I thought no items or functions from expansions can be found in later expansions, or is it like in The Sims 2 when for example the Attraction/Preferences feature from Nightlife could be used in expansions later than Nightlife without having Nightlife?
I'm embarrassed to say that three times I wrote Late Night instead of Nightlife up there...

The way I understand it is that when EA releases an Expansion Pack for Sims 3, they also release an update to the base game the same day.  The update generally adds some things to the base game that are found in the Expansion Pack.  I would think that collectibles would be added to the base game.  It's the big game mechanics that you can't have.  For example, you can't play a Ghost Hunter unless you have Ambitions installed; however, laundry can be done because washers and dryers came with the update.  It surprises me sometimes that the updates include so many things from the Expansion packs.  I'm not 100% certain, but I believe Tiberium would have been added with an update.  If someone knows for sure that I'm wrong, please correct me.  :)

... Washers and dryers did NOT come with any update for me?  :-\ I don't think any new objects have come with an update, but instead new functions. Like basements. I know that you can use the laundry functions by downloading a Loads of Laundry set in the store, but I've never heard about getting the machines through a patch.

I believe laundry appliances didn't come within a patch but the ability to do laundry did - IF you buy the washer and dryer from the Sims 3 Store then you can do laundry without having Ambitions installed.

I found this Screenshot on Google. I searched up Tiberium Duplicating and I found this. Or... I think I looked up Sims 3 Tiberium.

This picture doesn't prove anything.  It's just a shot of Tiberiums.
