I have done all the lead up and am at the very last of the quests and it is discovering the recipe and am stumped because it shows the place where I can find it but my only options to do at that sarcophagus is to woo or view.  I had my sim check out that sarcophagus earlier when she went through that room the first time.  Should I just cancel this quest and re-try? *headdesk, headdesk*

I found if you are with anyone with whom you are in a relationship with you get those options only...not to look inside.  I'm not sure if you can ditch that other person if the options change but I found that I couldn't get inside the place if someone is going through the tomb with me.

No, my sim is on her own in this vacation, left the family at home.  I am just going to cancel this quest and then re-start it next time she is in France, since she visits there often.  Thanks for the idea....
