I'm pretty sure that fact just changed your mind about some things.

That's a logical conclusion.

Woohoo! Boy, was I bummed that I had to go out and run errands this morning after seeing the two new challenges posted! I am now starting to get my stategies together for my practice runs! Thanks for all the challenges! I think it makes most of us players think "outside the box"!  ::)

Is tinkering allowed? I ask because I vaguely remember it wasn't in the upgrading challenge last year.

Well, well - to think I never knew that!  Thanks, Metro and ChronicR.  I'm off to try out my new teleporting skill!

lol, you're not the only one. I was just waiting for someone to ask the question, as I had no idea what it was all about either.

The list of the sites to be upgraded in Egypt:
Quote
Al Simhara, Egypt:
Base Camp (7)
Camp Sun (1)
Camp Moon (1)
Al Simhara Market (5)

This list does not include the Lotus Oasis.  I think it's actually a house that's for sale, but it's open plan and my sims always stay there on fishing trips.  It has a bathroom with shower, etc.

My test group is in China, and I can't figure out what they're supposed to upgrade near the Food Merchant.  I thought it was probably the fortune cookie machine, but the only options they have on it are to bake fortune cookies or write a fortune.  I don't see anything else nearby that they can upgrade.

Probably because they don't have high enough handiness to upgrade the fortune cookie machine. I believe you need to be lvl 7.

I know they don't have enough handiness, but shouldn't they be able to tinker on it like they can with other upgrade-able items they aren't yet skilled enough to upgrade?

Yeah, don't have an answer on that one. My test character I was running yesterday also did not get a Tinker option.

Thanks for the heads up on the Lotus Oasis, Schip. I found it. It's no wonder I missed it originally because there is no icon in Map view. You only find the name in Edit Town, so I'll have to be a little descriptive in the listing to clue players as to where it is.

Since some items have the possibility of several upgrades, ie. make self cleaning, make unbreakable, does each upgrade count since you would replace one upgrade with another?  Some items have two, some as many as four different upgrades.
What?  Grannies can't play games?

You make any upgrade (your choice of upgrade) and then move on. Doing multiple upgrades on a single object would obviously only set you back.

I found some more!  The Hot Springs in China has 2 large bathrooms, each with 2 toilets, a sink and a shower, for a total of 8 more items.

What a pity! My sim was in China and I forgot to look for more upgrade items... next time! And I think Egypt items are more than listed. Do we need to upgrade houses of natives too? i.e. the Lui family's house in China.

You only upgrade what's on the list. You definitely do not go into Sims' homes. Yeah, Schip and Lena have already caught a few omissions, so if you know of some others, by all means, pull my chain.

Is there a bathroom in one or two tombs? I seem to recall finding them after I'd completed a lot of said tombs. I went looking last night with static needs, but so far I haven't located them.

Even if there are, Norma, don't even worry about tombs.

OK, so bottom line is, if it's not on the list in the rules, then don't touch it.

Yeah, thanks for catching that. I'll add Grady's Junkstop to the list.

And what if the player doesn't have Ambitions? Adding the junkyard shall make things more complicated. I suggest thinking about this one, Metro. :-)
