Congratulations Nancy, you did great.
I see where all those carrots came from now. I also didn't realise there was a pattern behind asking for promotions - I just thought you had to be at the top of the career.
That tutoring idea was also great - I never even thought of that!
I also didn't go to China until I had the opportunity to "Go to China and learn the Martial Arts skill".
@Claymask
I don't think there's anything for the Rock Star career, but like you said, the Symphonic one had the stereo.
I set it up so that I could get as many skills open for each Sim as possible.
They’ both shared guitar as a carrot (Music – Rock, for one of them and Music – Symphonic for the other), Athletics (criminal for one, athletics for the other), Charisma (one in politics, one in education)and Logic (because there’s plenty of Logic careers to share).
I put them both in Law Enforcement first, because before they branch off they get the police car. It was handy to have them both have a car before trying out any other careers.
The only career that had two rabbit-holes that I sent only one sim into was the Criminal career. This meant when I quit as a Thief, I started at level 3 when I went to finish the Evil track.
I found it easy to get 6 promotions during the week, and even got 7 promotions in once.
Once I purchased multi-tasker, it wasn’t necessary to work at home if I was going to work the next day – the work hard option, in most cases, ensured a promotion.
The only time I found that I needed to work at home before work was with Journalism and Athletics. This is because the time at work is minimal (5-6 hours for most levels of the careers). Also, Athletics didn’t have a work hard option, so it necessary to work at home in order to get a promotion each day. For Journalism and Athletics, I worked at home until the bar was about a quarter of the way up, which was enough to get a promotion the next day.
By avoiding working at home for most the time, I was able to quickly max the necessary skills.
I had my sims have the bookworm trait, and sent them to the library to read skill books. This was very effective for fast learning. When I went to the foreign locations, I worked only on skills that didn’t require books as the ones with books would take less time at home.
I also took every opportunity I could that increased job performance or skills. If an opportunity increased my job performance, it meant I had more time to do things like meet and befriend the co-workers and boss. I found parties a very effective way to make friends with the boss and co-workers.
