Ghost Hunter Bingo!

Ghost Hunter Bingo!

Goal
Making as much money as possible from the Ghost Hunter career is very important, but the real fun will be roaming your neighborhood and catching lots of spirits to try and make as many “bingos” as you can.

General Challenge Rules
The General Challenge Rules always apply. If applicable, exceptions will be noted below.

Specific Challenge Rules
  • Create 1 Young Adult Sim.
  • You may not add to the household.
  • Using the display table to transfigure for spirits is banned.
  • All revenue must be limited to Ghost Hunter related activity — career jobs, Ghost Hunter career opportunities and/or spirit sales.
  • Once a spirit is captured and in its container it cannot be released.
  • This challenge concludes at the end of 3 weeks (Week 3, Day 7, 11:59 PM).

Scoring

Household Funds — At the conclusion of the challenge, note your Household Funds. Remember, during the 3 weeks of the challenge, all revenue must come from Ghost Hunter career jobs, career opportunities and/or spirit sales. Nothing else.

Bingos — A "Bingo" is achieved when you mark off "3 across" or "7 down" in a straight line on your scoring sheet. For example, if you find a Kind Young spirit, a Kind Old Spirit, and a Kind Ancient spirit — you've made a Kind (3 across) Bingo.

Your bingos are a multiplier for your Household Funds. Different bingos have different values. The values listed are a percentage added to your multiplier that starts at 1.00. Below is the table with all possible bingo values. My thanks to Pam for designing the Ghost Hunter Bingo Sheet for everyone. You allowed to print out ONE sheet. No more. 6 bingo cards are on a sheet.

Kind (3 across) — 1
Friendly (3 across) — 2
Frightened (3 across) — 3
Lost (3 across) — 4
Wrathful (3 across) — 5
Young (7 down) — 6
Jealous (3 across) — 7
Old (7 down) — 8
Evil (3 across) — 9
Ancient (7 down) — 10

***Each Ghost Hunter Service Award you receive counts as one free X on any bingo card.***

Total — Jot down your Household Funds. As an example, let’s say it’s an even $50,000.

Now it’s time to compute your bingos. Start with one of the six cards on your sheet. Look at the values of all possible bingos in the list above to see the total value of all bingos on that one card. When you’re finished, then move to the next card.

Add up all bingo values from the 6 card areas to get the correct percentage added to the multiplier. So, let’s say all of your bingos are worth 67 points. Your final mutiplier then is 1.00 + 67 = 1.67.

Your final challenge score = Household Funds ($50,000) X 1.67 = 83,500.

So the Idea is to get a Tick in all the boxes on one card before moving on to the next one?

No. You have 6 cards to work with. No more. You would work with all 6 at the same time. The most common spirits are in the top left area — Kind/Young for example. You will undoubtedly fill up all 6 of those boxes and then at that point you simply would not receive any more credit for that one type of spirit. However, you'll be lucky to find a single Evil/Ancient spirit. ;) Real lucky. Beyond lucky!  ;D

Interesting challenge. The best since Bishop Takes Head Kick, in my opinion. And the guide is very helpful, thanks.

I am confused. So I print this Card Set out, then when my Ghostbuster finds the Spirits I tick them off. So is this right :

Sim finds a Frightened Young Ghost, I tick the Box on the first card. Sim finds another Frightened Young Ghost and then I tick the box on the next card? Then when I have found 6 of the same type they don't get counted anymore?

Yep. Exactly. So, why is that? Because we all have to have the same number of cards to work with so it's fair. Sure, I could have everyone print out 20 sheets so you'd always have a blank space, but c'mon — that would be insane with juggling that many sheets.

Is it okay to transfigure spirits?  Or is this part of a strategy we shouldn't discuss?

I suppose I'm having a "senior moment." PM me to explain what you mean.

----------

EDIT: Jonna filled me in via PM that you can obtain spirits by transfiguring on the display table. I'm pretty sure that info is not on the Guide. I certainly was not aware of it.  :D But, anyway, I'm banning that method of obtaining spirits. It's not really in the spirit of this challenge. Owwww! That one was awful!

This looks interesting, I have never really played a Ghost Hunter before so Melinda Gordon will have her work cut out for her.  8)  I might have to practice for this one before I start it.

:( Yuck. ClayMask PM'd me and mentioned that she had noticed in a previous game that her Ghost Hunter stipend never increased once hitting the cap. It never occurred to me that that would be the case. I just assumed a weekly stipend would naturally increase if the experience bar filled and rolled over. Wrong!  :-\ I just did some testing and stipends do not increase once you max out the Ghost Hunter career. I have a simple solution for this and I will post the new scoring component momentarily. I apologize for this.

---------

EDIT: Done. The Weekly Stipend component is now Household Funds. The restriction is that all revenue must result from Ghost Hunter career jobs and/or spirit sales. Nothing else. Simple enough.

Just to clarify, we don't have to keep the spirits that we use for our bingo cards, right?  We can check them off the card and then sell them?

Ghost Hunter career opportunity money should definitely count towards the household income total. I'll specify that in the rules.

(looks at blonde hair) at the risk of sounding dumb, can you please clarify the scoring? I'm getting confused about the whole 3 across/ 7 down thing. does that mean only certain spaces on a bingo card get those points?

Print out the Ghost Hunter Bingo Sheet that's linked in the rules and I think it will click for you. Basically, each grid has 7 down and 3 across — there are not any diagonal bingos possible because of the odd numbers of down and across. So, look at the scoring sheet and if you would find a Kind/Young, a Kind/Old, and Kind/Ancient spirits — that's worth 1 point (Kind, 3 across).

Now I'm confused and I'm the one who made the bingo card!  Do you have to get ALL three across to get the one point?  And you'd have to get ALL 7 of the young down to get the 6 points for young?  And then if you got all 7 youngs on 3 cards, it would be 7 x 3 = 21 points?  I think any confusion from players might come from the lack of an explanation of exactly what "bingo" is.  I'm sure there are some who aren't familiar with bingo.

Seeing how in bingo, you have to have all of the squares filled in that particular line before it is a bingo.  So that was my understanding from the rules, to score a point for that particular ghost, you have to have all the squares checked to get that particular point for that ghost.  I could be wrong, but that was just my understanding.  That bingo card is pretty neat.  I know this challenge will be a welcome change and break from stories and I just so happen to have a sim that I had made that has the LTW to become a ghostbuster. :)

Sorry about that basic assumption on my part, everyone. Yeah, Salty explained it perfectly. A "Kind" bingo worth one point means you've found the 3 different Kind spirits — young, old, and ancient, so you'd have 3 across — a bingo. A Young bingo would mean you found all 7 different types of Young spirits — kind, jealous, wrathful, evil, etc. So, you'd have 7 down worth 6 points.

You cannot get a bingo from an individual spirit. You need to complete all the squares in a given line — across or down.

Wouldn't the end of 3 weeks be week 4, day 7, 11:59 pm, instead of week 3? Since we start off on week 1, day 1, I wanted to make sure.
