My Ghost Hunter ended with $84,866 in household funds.

She got 115 points in Bingo. 

So, $84,866 X 2.15 = $182,461.90.  (I believe we are dropping the decimals/cents?)

I did better in my test runs, but I just ended my exams this week so I was rushing through the actually game today. Oh well, it least it was quite fun.. but I don't want to see a ghost anytime soon.

Not enough to beat the top duo, but sooner or later we will learn to do it.

Congratulation Largo, and everyone else on finishing. I was good at this one ;D So I'll share my part, but do want to hear tips about how to get more rare types. Out of 313 spirits, my Sim got only one young evil and 2 wrathfull spirits.
First, I bought cheapest lot and expencive +10 energy bed, get a job and lesson in logic, bought tons of salad, and sent my klepto bookworm genius ambitous and lucky Sim to library to study logic, when his energy was in red, he stole Alto's Car and drive back home. That car helped me in fast comuting without spending any money. First day of work he already was level 5 career and got LTR Enterpreneurial Mindset (the one that speed up the promotions). On Wednesday he got LTR Professional Simolean Buster, and on Thursday evening he got his LTW fulfilled and max career (bought him opportunistic and meditative trance sleep, and only after that saved for steel bladder). He didn't took a shower or ate anything but salad for those 3 weeks. Getting the spirit locator first week was a goal, so he spent all his time scaning and banishing spirits, and finishing jobs on working days. Third week he was already getting almost 2k for each performed job (4-6k per night). Opportunities were the most important, and I got quite enough of them, but didn't have much rare expencive spirits to really boost the profit as it could be done. He got 6 rewards and I was hoping for 7th after catching 300 spirits, but he didn't get anything for that. Also, I didn't sell spirits in Science center cause there was no profit boost, I would mark the spot at bingo card and sell it after catching, except for 5 most expencive that I kept for opportunity (if no opportunity appear till 23.45, I would sell everything and start new round). That is all I could think of. In practice runs I was more lucky with rare spirits, but if there is a trick, please share :D

I finished quite low on the leaderboard. When my sim, Erik, had used up all the ingredients that come with a fridge by default, he started eating the quick meals. He played logic for the majority of his spare time, in his house that, in retrospect, was too big. :(
I bought cheaply where possible - the lowest quality things except for a bed and shower. I got the expensive Base Game shower, and the Chinese-themed bed.
I got the Profession Simolean Booster LTR, mainly to help with earning money. I got another LTR, but I can't remember it at this moment. Everything fell apart in the last two workdays - Erik didn't get any jobs to capture spirits. I used the Scanner to scan for spirits, but he only reached Level 9, so I could not get him the Positioning Device. He got engaged and invited his girlfriend over for some woohoo when nessecary, and eventually had a child out of wedlock. The baby grew to a toddler, and when the challenge was over, Erik's son and his fiance moved in.

I used my free bingo's for the rarer ones - Evil Ancient, Lost Ancient, Jealous Ancient - and I was 1 away from a Ancient Bingo!

I also scored fairly low...but I know my biggest mistake was that I built a house.  It didn't occur to me until I had already built it that "Household Funds" did not include my lot value.  Oh well, live and learn, right?!  If I had it to do over again I would also get the Entrepreneurial LTR before the Professional Simoleon Booster LTR.  The Meditative Trance Sleep also would have helped a ton, I'm sure.  I didn't get to Level 10 until my last week of work and by then time was running out of time to use the positioner to get spirits.  This was a very fun challenge though, even if I didn't do so well.

I only got one during the entire challenge, so I assumed that were rare.

Well. I completed opportunities as soon as I was able, which was pretty much immediately. I only had one skill and the job, so the opportunities were either going to be logic or ghost hunter related. Other than that I don't know why I got so many opportunities. I was much luckier than I was in my practice game. I think that there are only 4 total opportunities for ghost hunting and I got them all repeatedly.

I may not have gone where I intended to go, but I think I have ended up where I needed to be.

Argh! I just realised I turned down loads of Ghost Hunting Opportunities!
I had the "Haunted House" one pop up several times, but I turned it down as I was always pursuing the "Donate 100 Spirits to science" wish.

I must have been completely unlucky in that respect :D
I got a lot of logic opportunities, but only the one ghost hunter one.

Like Largo, I got the same four Ghost Hunting opportunities over and over.  If I completed it one day, I'd usually get another in the next day or so.  I do think there is some luck involved in this challenge (what kind of spirits you get, how many opportunities you get, etc.) but there definitely is some strategy too.  It wouldn't have occured to me to make my sim a slob and not have him buy a shower.  I'm just so used to building houses for my sims, that's why it didn't occur to me to have him be homeless or at least roofless.  Also, there's definitely strategy in what LTR's you get and in what order.  If I have the time, I might try this again sometime for fun and see if I do better.
