Welcome all newcomers and good luck. Sorry I haven't been around much lately... the other half and I have been taking care of the monster lorries and something strange has happened to my phone. I have a qwerty keyboard and for some strange reason, auto-suggest likes to randomly make an appearance. I've nearly finished now though and am looking forward to participating some more challenges.
Over and out.

Ok, my sim is finished and the result is :

31 fishes = 124000
36 dishes = 144000
24 plants = 96000

total = 364000

LTHP 379027

Final score = 743027

Now my sim can go to france one more time to get those machines and start the nectar testing...

Just for clarification's sake, you know the plant state, does the plant itself have to be perfect or does the produce you harvest from it need to be perfect?

So just making sure on this, in the gardening skill book, it lists all the plants that you have planted and they each have a quality next to them. Does this quality mean the highest quality harvestable from it, or the highest quality that you've planted? Basically, can we go off of that to keep track of our perfect plants?

Okay, cool. Thanks for letting me know so fast!

On Another Note: Man, I really need to step it up, I'm still on week 10! I'm afraid that I will have to withdraw from the nectar challenge, but that's not official yet so don't do anything to the leaderboard yet, please!

Don't worry, I won't. This one definitely deserves your undivided attention since the clock is running down fast. And even if you'd not finish it until the last minute, you'd still have three more weeks to finish the nectar one. I didn't spend three weeks on all three current challenges combined. But, that may not be a fair comparison given I can invest a pretty healthy amount of time to gaming.

I don't know what your day is like, but you also don't have to worry about high school and all the homework! Not to mention friends and stuff, plus I have band like 2 extra hours per week after school, and I'm in another club that meets on Mondays, wow my schedule is hectic!

Oh, I know you've got a busier schedule than I do. It's been 30 years since high school, but I do remember it. I played drums in a rock band, and that took up time. Then the girlfriend. And oh, yeah, this thing called studying had to come in there too. :) You'll get it done.

I've found that sometimes the list in the skill journal isn't accurate.  I know I had perfect plants and they would show as excellent or something.  I used a spreadsheet to keep my tally of perfect items.

I've found the other way round, actually. The state that the skill journal records is the state of the harvestable, not the plant. So if I've got an outstanding plant, the skill journal says perfect.

----------
EDIT:

So far I've got 35 recipes perfected. I've caught all 31 fish as perfect. I'm waiting for the next 2 opportunities to show up; it doesn't look promising though. Other than that I've perfected 24 plants.

Just a repeat of my notice from last week:

Hi all,

I just got "ERROR 12" and my save game wont load anymore.  When I check my save game folder the game now reads as *bad*, so I will just enter my scores up until this point.

I think I added the points correct, but please check in case I have made a mistake.

Week 11, Day 7

28 fishes = 112000
35 dishes = 140000
29 plants = 116000

total = 368000

LTHP 224980

Final score = 592980

The 3 fish I couldnt catch were deathfish, vampirefish and tancho koi.

The 1 dish I missed was tri tip steak.

I really enjoyed playing this challenge, just a shame the error ruined me attempting to finish with a better score.

Hi Pam,

Thank you for those links, they were very informative and will be helpful if I encounter this problem again.  Unfortunately though for this particular save, I deleted it after I posted my score details here.

I am interested in trying another challenge here though, The Sunset Valley/Riverview Team Upgrade Race takes my fancy.  So the information in those links you posted, will be vital if I come across this error while attempting that challenge or if any of my other saves decide not to play nice.

icftidu, that's a great Perfect score given you still had about 4 weeks to go. Nicely done. I'm glad you enjoyed the challenge and I'm sorry to hear about the bad luck with the tech issues.

I'm so sorry about your game, icftldu. I've come across that error message too and it nearly gave me a heart attack.

On another note, I managed to get the last two gardening opportunities and have perfected them all besides the cranerlet nuala and gralladina fran grapes. I've finished this challenge too. Here are my results:

Recipes: 35 = 140000
Plants: 27 = 108000
Fish: 31 = 124000

Total = 372000

LTHA: 420,536

Total: 792,536

So when I got on to play yesterday, I got through like 5 or 6 days sim time. Then, just as I'm about to save, my game freezes, and closes to the desktop, no message, no nothing. So, I just lost a lot of time. I'm afraid that as slow as I play the game, I won't finish through day 100, but may have to turn in a score that doesn't include all 100 days. This also probably means that I'm out of the nectar making challenge.

Metropolis Man, thank you about my score.  I usually mostly play sims with gardening and/or fishing skills because I really enjoy the gardening/fishing playstyle.  Unless I specifically want to play an adventure game, then the sim has the traits to suit that playstyle.  One thing though, this was the first time I played a sim long enough to actually get the omni plant opportunity, so I am stoked with that personal achievement.  My sim had a job in the Culinary Career and was very good friends with the boss.  The lady with French as a surname from Sunset Valley, who by the way, repeatedly autonomously kept hitting on my sim, lol.

nobi_fawkes, yes that error is a nasty thing to encounter but worse I feel, when you are involved in a great challenge that you are absolutely enjoying.  Now though, thanks to Pam, I have a couple of links to help me if I do encounter that error again.  So this has been a good learning experience for me.

Playing this challenge is the first time since I got Sims 3, that I have played vanilla.  I never knew how much I relied on a mod until now, lol.

Thanks Metro ;D

jmz95 - I've encountered that too. It nearly happened twice to me whilst I was doing this challenge. I lost about the same amount of game time but I decided to redo the stuff again. Then I got that problem again but instead of letting it crash completely, I clicked on the Sims 3 icon on the tray (you know, where the list of programs you're using is) and it loaded the program unscathed. Just a tip if it happens again.

icftldu - your situation is much worse, yes. But lucky for me, I live with an IT Technician and my natural reflex when something bad happens is denial. I very rarely instantly accept it. From personal experience, though and if it's any consolation to you... all the months I've been playing it since that error message made an appearance, I haven't come across it once.

I had this on my old computer, but only when I was taking Photos, I either press the camera button or 'C' and it just closes, no warning, no nothing. I think it was to do with my Graphics Card not being supported or whatever.

That's the thing though, it didn't even show up in the tray. It's as if Sims 3 was never open.

Well, I understand that, but I'm positive that my graphics card is not the issue, unless it just got burned out temporarily. I've had this computer ever since I started playing sims, and I've had this problem maybe once or twice before. (By the way, one of the reasons I got my newest computer was because my old one couldn't run Sims  ;D)

Well, I wasn't able to complete the entire challenge, I only got to the beginning of week 13 so yes, I am a very slow player, but I am quite satisfied with my score I guess. I got 83 perfect plants, fish, and meals and 363,571 Total Lifetime Happiness Points for a combined score of 695,571. I feel like if I completed it, my score would be much higher, as I could have perfected everything but one plant and gotten well over 400,000 lifetime happiness points. Oh well, it was fun and I'm glad I could do this.

P.S. The reason I couldn't complete this challenge is because I'm going out of town tomorrow morning and I won't be back till Monday, after the challenge is over.
