I already started but I'm thinking that it isn't going to be possible to get a perfect 'perfect' score.

Carl and I were wondering about this. I think the slowdown will be recipes, not fishing. I'm not going to go into my own strategy for this one, but I honestly don't think getting all Perfect fish will be too difficult. It's when you go to China that's the key. That's all I'll say.

Nancy, it looks like you're the first horse out of the gate, whenever you have some solid numbers and want me to add them to the leaderboard, let me know.

I don't foresee a problem with the fish or the recipes - but I just don't think it's possible to get the rare grapes you need in only 3 days in China and 3 days in France. It's possible you could get Pangu's Axe in under 3 days, but there are also 5 different fish to get in China and I don't think its possible to do both. It might be possible to get to the Landgraab Chateau basement in the time (getting the French fish was easy) but I don't think that has both the rare grapes, it only has the red ones.

So far I'm up to 16 perfect fish and 5 perfect plants, there have been quite a few perfect recipes too but I haven't been counting. I'm planning on having a big cook-a-thon when she's learned all the recipes. LHPA: 155,126 at the mo. So I make that a current score of 239,126?

Yep. That's correct if you have 19 different perfect things. I'll update the table.

Yeah, I caught that when I was updating the table. Thanks.

EDIT: I submitted my article to Carl, so now I can turn my attention to this bad boy. I've spent the last hour doing a little testing with my Zeus and Hera characters to get my ducks in a row as to what I need to do in the different WA cities. I've got a definite plan now. I'm going to create Paul Prudhomme, one of my favorite cooks since I love Cajun cuisine, so here I go.....

Hi, I just stumbled upon this by searching for a list of all the Lifetime Wishes on Google.  I found Carl's site :)  I was stoked to have a challenge, as I am starting to get bored with a game I really do love.  But I see you need the new World Adventures expansion to play.... are there any challenges for those of us waiting to buy until all the bugs n kinks get worked out?

Thanks,
Lisa

Hi Lisa:

Welcome to the forums. Eventually within the next 3 months I'm thinking all 2009 challenges will be relegated to the Graveyard. And even when they are moved, they'll still be there for anyone to check out and try a challenge. But, my recommendation for now would be the Baby Boomer Challenge or the Solo Centurian one. They've seen a lot of participation.

As to holding off on WA because of bugs, I have had absolutely 0 problems with WA.

Welcome to our Forum, Lisa.

This is as good a time as any to buy World Adventures.  The initial bugs have been fixed with the most recent update and it plays very well.

How do I get to the "graveyard"?

Well I was just reading over on the Sims3 forum on EA's site.  It didn't sound too good.  A lot of people seem to be complaining.  But my husband is a PC tech so I was going to have him look at them, read them, so he would understand the issues, the fixes, so if we had any he'd know what to do.  Sadly, it's our 8 yr anniversary today and I was originally hoping he'd bring it home for me.... hehe Kind of a sad anniversary present, but it makes me happy...  LOL

Missesd,

The "Graveyard" that Metro's referring to is a section in our Forum here.  It's the place where we move older threads that don't have as much activity as they used to.  Here's a direct link to the Graveyard:

http://www.carls-sims-3-guide.com/forum/index.php?board=11.0

Also, here's the link to our Challenges section where you can find lots of challenges that don't include World Adventures:

http://www.carls-sims-3-guide.com/forum/index.php?board=6.0

I understand about your concerns over the bugs in the game.  Keep in mind that the official Sims 3 forum tends to run toward the negative in general with a lot of people complaining all the time.  I believe if you load World Adventures, then download the most recent patch, you should be fine.  Perhaps the others here can confirm this or give some more information.

And happy anniversary!

Also, remember that several million people bought this game. Some of all those people are bound to have problems, that doesn't mean they're common.

I wouldn't worry in advance about every possible thing that might go wrong if I were you. Just try buying the game and installing it and see what happens. If you get problems you can't solve you can always just uninstall it and play your base game again. Just back up your saved games before installing.

If you do get WA, save often. I have the latest patch and I've still had a crash to desktop that lost me hours of gameplay. Crashes are less frequent than before the patch but still not impossible.

How old should my sim be when the challenge is over, and does it finish at 23:59 on the 100th day or 00:00 or some other time?

Your Sim's age doesn't really matter. It's just days played. You're creating a Young Adult at the beginning and playing 100 days, so they'll just be into their Elder status at the end of the 100th day. So, at the end of the 100th day (before midnight of the next day) you stop play. The 100th day is Week 15, Day 2. It's a Monday.

If its 100 days from the start of young adult to the end of the game, assuming you don't age up early, everyone should be the same age at the end. Looking at the week, I've got longer left than I thought but the recipes are driving me nuts. As far as I can tell there are 36, I've done 33 and I know what 2 of the others are but I've one missing... I think I need a spreadsheet.

Looks like you'll be the first to crank this challenge out, Nancy. How much time do you have left?

Good luck Nancy!

I don't feel like doing any challenges at all right now since I'm still just having fun with WA but I'm sure I'll get around to doing this before March. So you can add me too Metro.

Not a great deal, I'm on week 14 day 3, with 2 very stubborn recipes to go. Also annoyed that all my fish died - I had them all in fish bowls just waiting for the deathfish to complete the set and I got so distracted with bagging the death fish that I forgot to feed them :(

Great Job Nancy!  There are exactly 36 recipes.  I took the time yesterday to write up a spreadsheet with all the fish varieties, plant varieties and recipes so that I could just check them off as I go through this challenge.

wildredchild, you're already on the leaderboard.

Nancy, that's awesome. You must be playing this one like crazy to finish in just 2 days! Wow. So, were you able to get all the fruits? Don't let on to any strategy because that would spoil things for other players.

Cool, I found the problem, when I wrote my list (in my sim's biography) I used the number 4 twice, so the list only goes up to 35 but there are 36 - finally got those hot dogs to perfect! I got that there are 31 fish and 29 plants (including the omni plant - which I don't think can be perfect can it?)

Nancy you are correct with the plants and fish numbers and yes, you can get a perfect omni plant if one of the seeds you get with the opportunity completion happens to be perfect.

Thank you Metro for reminding me that I am on the leader board already

Hmmm. I don't like too much randomness in scoring, but it's just 4k points. Carl and I were discussing the other day that it's probably going to boil down to Happiness points for the top players anyway.

Just my humble opinion but in that case I think Omni plants should be excluded from the total - there's no skill or strategy involved at all. Getting the rare grapes from france involves a huge amount of luck as it is but there is at least some strategy to it - unless I've missed something, the only way I know of to get those grapes is Tuatha's Garden (requires Pangu's Axe), Langraab basement quest (i think you can only get 1 of the rare ones there but I could be wrong - the others might have been there but not harvestable) or getting Visa level 3. For the 2 quests its pretty much a crapshoot as to whether you get offered them straight away afaik and for Pangu's axe, you'd definitely have to get the quest on your first day and you'd have to be pretty lucky with the fishing too to fit it all in.  I just took a sim to France for the first time as an experiment and he didn't get any landgraab quests the whole 3 days he was there.

When I've submitted my official score, I'm going to have a try at different strategies for getting those grapes, see how feasible it is to get them in the 3 days you have, and how lucky you have to be ;)
