Author Topic: Notification and Personal Message Emails Not Being Received (Read 1386 times)

I have a few of my threads on Email notification but lately they are not being sent the same with a PM I received during the night. I have checked my Spam Box and it is not in there. I have also been visiting the threads so any new replies would send a new Email to me. The last Notification I got was for a Reply in my Hannah Longing Story at 7:45, I have not received any new emails from my Jade Dynasty Reply or a Building and Construction Requests Thread email. Am I doing something wrong or is this feature not working for anyone else?

I recently got a pm, and while I typically get an e-mail for them, I didn't for this one. But now that I think about it, there was another one recently I didn't get an e-mail for, too. However, these two messages were not consecutive so it, for me at least, appears to be a sporadic problem.

I had a couple of private messages in my Inbox that didn't come to my email, too. I sent a note to Carl, so I'm sure he'll check into it soon.

I've found that sometimes the emails about pm's get caught up by my service provider's spam filter. They then turn up in the quarantine summary they send every so often. I don't know why some emails from the forum get through and others don't - maybe it has to do with the subject line. But it might be worth checking your quarantine summary, to see if the missing messages are there.

If you mean the Spam Category on my Email I have checked that and nothing is there.

I went and checked, and noticed that 1 of the two did get sent to the spam folder. I have since informed G-Mail that this is naughty. However, that still leaves the more recent one unaccounted for.

They will come from my personal email address @carlsguides.com once again. Hotmail has our entire server on their block list. Of course we send a lot of emails to that domain, a huge percentage of people use email powered by microsoft. So, unfortunately, we'll have to activate new members from any of their sites (live, hotmail, msn) by hand until they remove us from the block list. Clearly using gmail to send them is not reliable as the account was set up fine. Sorry for the inconvenience. Microsoft mail has given me a lot of trouble recently and I looked for a way to allow those folks to register without problems.

If you use an email they control, you won't be receiving emails until this is cleared up. I just filled out a huge form asking them to fix the issue. They say 24 hours, but who knows.

I'm getting emails from myself when I attempt to register a test account. I hope your notifications work once again.

I use Yahoo Mail. I will set this Topic to Notify and see if it works when the next person posts.

I just noticed I did not get an email either, but it really doesn't matter one way or another if I get email notification or not, but I have always gotten one until today.

Marvelous. I knew it had to be doing something. I'm starting to get tons of bounced messages that the system is trying to send to hotmail. I'll definitely know when this is fixed on their end

@Carl:

I just realized that there's a little confusion here. This isn't about the notification email that's supposed to be sent when a new member signs up. We're talking about the notification function on topics that sends an email when someone posts to a topic, and the email notification that comes when we receive private messages.

Aye. The issues were just tied. I tried to fix the email verification and it leads to this notification issue, so these folks who use that email provider are left in the dust until Hotmail unblocks us. Hope I don't have to ask for folks to complain to them as to why we can't send them verification or notifications

Hotmail should get back with me tomorrow.

I use G-Mail, myself...but I've only missed two e-mail notifications. I found one of them later in my spam folder...and oddly enough I got another one on the same day and it didn't go to spam. I did tell the spam filter that it wasn't spam, but it still leaves one that I didn't see. It's not really a huge problem on my end...it was just weird lol.

Wait... Carl, by live and hotmail, do you mean windows live have you on their block list??? If so...

I received a couple of PM notices, and I'm on Windows Live. They were dated 16th of March, so... roughly 2 days before this topic was started. (I'm several hours ahead of forum time. And by several, I mean I'm going to bed when you're waking up.)

EDIT: I checked the email address. It's from gmail.
EDIT 2: I also don't have any settings for the forum. Nothing should be causing anything from here to be blocked.

Hotmail users, perhaps you can help me. If you tell the forum to notify you of something and get it at a hotmail, msn or live account and it is filtered as junk, please be sure to pick 'not junk'. We have been unblocked from their system but my test registration just went to my junk mail folder. Perhaps with enough people telling them it's not spam their system will figure it out.

I'm really happy it looks like people can register through those addresses at last. My application to be unblocked was accepted! The email I received says it will take 24-48 hours for it to be fully implemented.

Sadly I'm the only one who owns the IP. Yeah, I pay for the premium for this site. Their system blocked us because of some some jerk spamming us with hotmail accounts to spam us. Sucks.

This may now be irrelevant, but it may help somebody if their hotmail account still does not recieve emails. I added '@carlsforums.com' to my safe senders list. After I did this, I could recieve my verification email and have recieved all emails perfectly since.

I just checked, and that is what I orginally marked as safe-just got it wrong on the post (I must have been looking at the web adress).
