Proposed Challenges

Proposed Challenges

If you have a challenge idea, then you have a couple options:

1) Reply to this thread to throw the idea on the table. This is the preferred method since it will engage the whole community to flesh out the idea. I will organize all of the ideas in this first post.

2) Directly PM a moderator. This is fine too if you are hesitant and unsure if your idea has merit.

DO NOT start a new thread for your challenge without receiving permission first. If a moderator signs off on your idea and the challenge receives an official schedule listing, then you can make the new topic/thread.

Challenge Ideas....

* Create the largest garden or have the biggest collection of fish in a certain time period (Kauri The Sim).
--Adam and Eve's Garden of Eatin'. I was looking at Kauri's idea and threw around some funny names. It might work down the road, but for now a gardening/fishing/cooking tourney is too similar to the Perfectly Happy one. So, there needs to be a break before this idea.
--Collection Agency (working off of Kauri's idea). More of a general collecting tourney to acquire large collections of many game objects.

* Max Skills Family-Size Marathon (Metro). A 2.0 version of the vanilla tourney involving all family members.

* Rose Red Challenge (Twinmum) — alternative title: "Hey, Nice Digs!" This is a Furnished Lot Value concept. Everyone would start at the same lot in SV or Riverview and would not be able to move. Possibly a multigenerational thing so paintings could be passed down?

* Metro's Madhouse. My personal spin on the popular Asylum Challenge.

* Rock Star II: Live Fast, Die Young. A Rock Career challenge involving world tours to learn new songs. Details are sketchy at this point, but it will be relatively short to fit the title. I'm thinking Concert income and parties should be in the mix somehow.

* A Ghost of a Challenge (Saltypaws). A ghost centered challenge involving quickly reviving a ghost via Ambrosia and possibly some additional components.

Just a little one: Create the BIGGEST garden or collection of fish or something in a certain amount of days.

I'll throw out my first idea: The Level 6 Noncommittal Career Couple. It's sort of my take on Pam's Career Duos Challenge, but with a lot of differences. In this one you'd only be playing a couple and they would each be pursuing different career tracks — even the dual path careers. But, the interesting slant to this one would be they quit their jobs after reaching Level 6 and move on to the next one. I think allowing Mid-Life Crisis may be an interesting strategy. I think it was PJ who suggested this to me for the Max Skills tourney, and it would be a nice touch — especially if the main scoring component would be a speed one where you'd want your couple to hit Level 6 in all careers ASAP.

I did Pam's Career Duo's Challenge and had a blast.  I am definitely interested in your take for this Metro!

Did you actually finish Pam's challenge? I know the leaderboard was empty when she deleted the thread last week so I was under the impression no one did it.

Yes Metro, I did finish it but never sent in the information to Pam and now it has gone missing on my desk somewhere.

Ack. Well, I hope you don't do that again. Especially now that tourneys will go towards the ranking which I'm assuming you'd like to be part of.  ;) The new closing date protocol for events will be a constant reminder to everyone, so unless someone falls into a coma I can't imagine anyone forgetting to turn in their results.

I added one more title to the list based on an idea Carl threw at me that I had been kicking around as well — a romance based challenge where you try and have as many lovers as possible in all locations.

Happy New Year, can't sleep :)

To what I've already said, I thought about not just having the biggest garden, or collection of fish, maybe the biggest collection out of everything, like exes, friends, enemies, grave tomb things (from killing visitors or sims in the household) , TV's, butterflys, metals, cars. The list could be endless, but I don't know how the scoring would work. That would be up to someone else.

I'll keep that in mind, Kauri. So, you're talking about more of a general purpose collecting tourney then? Carl would eat that up. He loves the collecting stuff in the game. I'll throw out another name that just came to mind.

I was wondering about some sort of Nectar Making challenge along the lines of:

100 days to max out gardening and nectar making, create as many different great and amazing combinations as possible and add in the value of your most expensive aged bottle with only 1 three-day trip to each location.

If this is too easy then shorten the number of days you can do it in or make it an 'as fast as possible' challenge and you have to balance speed against creating new combinations and aging nectar.

What about challenges people from other forums made that I want to share with you? I found a particularly interesting challenge, but I don't know if it's ok to put it here; after all it's not my idea.

Metro - Pam and I have been 'PM'ing about a very similar challenge I proposed to her a couple of weeks ago, we'd been kicking around some ideas about how to make it family friendly :-)

Super. Let me know what you come up with. Everything in the first post is basically on a workbench, so titles, ideas, etc are in a state of development.

Proposed Builders Challenge:  The Most Desirable Property for the Self Employed

The lot would include:

--all the necessary skill building objects for the self employed. (detailed list to follow)

--a home with garden area, pond, and basement (for nectar storage)

-- your choice of small, medium, or large lot (lot values to be determined)

Dates to be announced, forum users will vote on The Most Desirable Property.

No vote necessary. 477 Sunnyside Blvd is the hands down winner for a self-employed Sim with the Over-Emotional/Loves the Outdoors traits.

But the players always build more beautiful lots !  Lets see if anyone would like to compete and show their talents?

So, what exactly are you suggesting? A challenge where a poll is taken to see who can build the most beautiful lot?

The  "Most Desirable Property for the Self Employed"  would include beauty, Yes.  As well as function, because its specific for "the self employed" sims. And whatever else the voter thought most desired for the Self Employed.

There's just no way a subjective thing like voting on the beauty of a property could be part of a ranked challenge, Lesa. Everyone has different opinions on what they consider "beautiful." But, I have no problem with you or anyone else throwing up a generic forum-wide poll for everyone to vote on player's accomplishments. The challenges in this section have to have measurable, concrete scoring criterion.
