A Great Start!
The first week can make or break you in a challenge, the goal is to get the best start ever!

RULES: (stolen and modified from Zeus and Hera’s Nectar-Making Invitational)
Stating your intent to play in the challenge is a requirement. You will be added to the leaderboard. Simply lurking and then posting results is bad sportsmanship.
Create 1 Young Adult Sims. No other Sims can be played.
No cheats or modifications.
You must be patched up to the most current EA patch.
You are not allowed to enter the Edit Town screen to switch Active Households during the tournament.
Move your Sims into an existing house or build one yourself to start.
No vacations allowed.
The Challenge ends at 6AM, Week 2, Day 1.
You must submit your first score (so we have some early scores), but are allowed to retry as many times as you like and submit higher scores (for final ranking). If a score will move you into the top 3 you must submit your new high score before trying again.
Discussing Strategy and Explicit Info. Revealing very detailed information about how best to achieve a certain goal is forbidden. The goal is to find your own way to a great start!

Scoring
Skills, funds, items collected, Job rank, LTH and Children all play a big rule in a great start depending on the end goal.
Skills=1 point per level each level up
Funds=1 point per 1000 over 10000
Items=1 point each unique item collected including fish
Job=3 points per level each level up
Children=6 points per child
LTH=1 point per 1000

The scoring is a bit complicated, but the rules are extremely simple, and the number of ways to play can only be imagined. I hope it would be attractive because people can go for their favorite start, yet when trying to move up the score board it will encourage trying something new.

I guess I'm confused.  Is there a time limit for this one?  The goal being to have the best 1 week?  How many sims can you start with?  Do you get points for each sim accomplishing things or just one sim?

If you read the rules, it says it ends at 6am on week 2,day 1, and that we could have only 1 sim.  ;)

I think it's unlikely that this proposed challenge will make it to the official tournament board.  It's just too short and doesn't really have a specific challenge to be met.

It is short, the hope is that scores will get submitted with most saying "I'm going to give it another try." I think that would make it different, enjoyable and most will give it at least 3-5 tries. My only concern is that scoring may not be balanced and could lead to all leaders focusing on career or children. Points and children would still need discussion and clarification to decide what would work. I think it would be a great challenge but the forum and scoreboard would require a lot of maintenance, and I know Metro is already working hard.

I've really padded the schedule lately. If you have not taken a look recently, check out the sticky here. The two most recent events I added just this morning and come courtesy of great ideas from forum members. There's been a lot of discussion in this thread on traits and NPCs, so I'm creating a nice political challenge with all of those elements.

The final challenge on the schedule is the result of a discussion I had with Pam. She threw out an idea to me a few days ago that really excited me and is just so different and unique. Well done, Pam.

--------

EDIT: I just jotted down 4 more ideas that will definitely be official challenges at some point:

1--Some type of massive collector's challenge
2--A bigger, better version of the Max Skills Marathon involving a whole family
3--Metro's Madhouse. This is going to be my personal spin on the popular asylum challenge.
4--Rock Star II: Live Fast, Die Young.

There's no hurry to schedule these yet. Names are not finalized and the scoring mechanics are only vague ideas at this point. But, all 4 of these are very different than anything currently on the schedule at the moment. And that's the most important thing to me is to offer everyone a lot of variety. I want nearly every aspect of the game to receive special attention by the time the final challenge is in the books.

So, that actually only leaves 2 slots remaining for the entire Tournament to be completely full.

I really hope they fix the bugs in the photography skill because that would be a really fun challenge, to get ALL the pictures in all the different collections completed.

The latest patch fixed the Theatre one. Are there others?

The schedule looks great!  Very happy to see my Movin' On Up idea on there.  It will be fun!

Outstanding work here, Metro!

Apparently the Dropa Stones is still bugged, plus the problems with collecting bugs since the latest update to our games.

I'm doing the insane asylum challenge right now.  I've been keeping a tally-count of how many times they peed themselves and I'm at 19 times so far.  You can count me in to take part in this challenge again.  It's been a lot of fun.

Was it the Family Man one? Just because there's going to be a "have lots of kids" challenge format in an upcoming event -- the Surrounded by Family one. So, there definitely won't be another one of those this year at least. Maybe a different one next year. Please don't take it personally. There's 13 slots and I need to decide what mix of events would be best.

Is a Master of the Arts a Kind of Challenge so Your sim has to master Guitar, Painting, Writing (Photgraphy with WA). They also have to make as much money from each profession, but using Skill Guide. They also have to try and complete each extra challenge is Skill Guide. Just an Idea. Anyone can pick bits from it. I dont mind.

Not bad. But, the maxing skill part and completing all of the challenges will already be built into the Family-Sized Super Max Challenge that I'm kicking around. Income will not be a measure in that event. So, I don't know if just an exclusive Artistic one will happen or not. The schedule is almost full up to summer. Now I want to sit back and see if another expansion is released this year so I can have a couple events at the end of the schedule to incorporate new content.

I mainly just put it up there because it's something I've never really tried to do apart from in my Legacy Family where I have completed two Painting and Writing LTW.   ;D

I didn't know of other bugs, just heard about that theatre one. :)  So maybe a photog challenge would be good now.  It seems like there are a ton of things to take pictures of so it might take a while.

I have a Challenge. It's my sinister twist on the Asylum challenge. I looked at challenge ideas and thought a twisted version of the Asylum would be interesting.

Name: Last Stop Mental Hospital.
Rules: No cheats whatsoever after building your "hospital" 8D
         No custom content
         No more then 1 pair of sims in the hospital can marry, if they have kids, well, let's just say he won't be the nicest, sanest, merciful of children.
         1 child only.
         4 out of 8 sims must be elders. (Last Stop for life)
         You may not upgrade, or buy anything that has any added features (never breaks, self cleaning, etc.)
         *These are just some of the rules, If this is challenge is accepted, more rules will be posted up.*
         Think about it, or the patients will become Crazies

This is my first post here, so I'm just hoping I didn't do anything wrong.

Hi Lark. Thanks for throwing out your ideas. I've wanted to do my own spin on the Asylum Challenge for some time. I may call it Metro's Madhouse. I don't know. I'll probably cull ideas from the standard Asylum Challenge, here in proposed ideas, and then my own ideas to make it unique.

There have been times while doing the challenges when I thought I was already there!  ;D
