I have a minor technical request: can we make it so that X-day challenges end at 6:59 am on day X+1?  A new game begins Sunday morning at 7:00 am, after all.

They start at 8 am, so following your request a true X-day challenge would end at 7:59 am. Basically 8 hours later than what the defacto is now. You're right. And I'm right. It just depends on how you look at 100 days. You're looking at it as a full x number of 24-hour days. I look at it as closing on the end of the x day at midnight since that is the standard for the end of a day. I'll think about it. It's hard to argue with a crazy person.  ;) I'm kidding of course. I've got bigtime OCD tendencies as well.  ;D  :D Now, back to my hand washing.

I was thinking maybe like an ultimate gem collector where one Sim has to try to get complete collections of each gem type.  By complete collection I'm talking about each cut for each Gem, Including Spire, Skull, and Polish Spit Cut.  It wouldn't matter if the Gem is large or small as long as they have all the cuts.

Count on it—although an "ultimate gem collector" challenge is going to be all part of a broader Centenarian Collection Agency idea that will probably see the light of day after the last scheduled event, House Hunters. That's the plan as of now—an enormous lengthy collector's challenge encompassing all types of collections (but, not relics).

The Never Ending Diaper Change.  You can use birthdays, you can go for generations, you can eat lifefruit, ambrosia is A-OK.  The objective is to always have a bun in the oven.  Lifespan normal, the game ends as soon as either: a child is born or ages up without you being able to choose a trait (so unhappy mother, not all toddler skills, no honor roll for children or teens) OR you go more than one week without an infant or toddler in the house.

You're insane. You just finish up the baby Boomer challenge—at the top of the leaderboard, no less—and this is your suggestion? More abuse?!  ;D

Haha Simone!  I would play that.  Lol.  And see, it wouldn't be so hard because you don't have to worry about Lifetime Wishes, which is what messed me up in the last one.  Babies and toddlers, I'm great.  But a house full of Lifetime Wishes was more than I could do.  How would you score it?

Picking up on some of the ideas in this thread and looking at some of the old threads in the graveyard I'd love to see a Hobo / Wealth accumulation challenge.

I love the idea of having to be 'homeless' when you start and having to use the community facilities.

At the moment I'm loving the Baby Boomer timings of 'Normal' Lifespan (I usually play on Long or Epic). Perhaps there could be a legacy part to it?

The scoring could be either time based i.e. how long it takes for your 'heir' to reach level 10 of a career or money based, i.e. net worth at the end of a given period or a combination of the two?

Just a thought

Aby

I'd like the idea of the hobo challenge as well.

But really hardcore, like you have to purchase an empty lot and donate get rid of all your starting money, and can never build/buy anything. You can never move.

Maybe even require the hobo to take 5 awful traits to start, and the goal is to build up enough LTH to be able to re-trait.

Haven't really thought it all through yet. :)

Maybe it'd be fun to have a "Most Hated Sim On The Block" challenge.  See how many enemies you can acquire within a time frame.

Heh. Yeah, the polar opposite of Political Traiter. I've actually thought about an enemy challenge and did some testing a while ago. It's pretty straighforward—meet someone and just start hurling insults. Within one or 2 socials, you're enemies. Rinse and repeat. The problem that i found was it just turned out to be incredibly boring compared to making friends which requires more skill and thought on part of the player.

I remember from Sims 2 days, Pinstar created a challenge where you had to get level 10 in body skill, yet still remain fat, and then you'd get points for every fight that you won.  It was actually pretty hilarious. :P

Just on the main sims 3 site and someone has made some stories of Traits they would like to see and also gone into detail about what it would do and the likes. But then I came accross one which was 'reliable' and they said if combined with the 'good' trait could lead to a LTW they made up where the ultimate goal is to donate a certain amount to charity. So that got me thinking what if we used this Donating idea and made it into a challenge of our own where you can maybe have a set amount of time to donate as much as you can. We could even be split into two groups and the totals of each team members total are added to get a team total? Then the winning team all gets some extra points I don't know. I don't know why but I might do this even if it doesn't make the challenege scheduel.

A charity event. Interesting idea, samoht04. I like it. For now I'm still waiting on Ambitions to be released so I can plan out the rest of the year's schedule.

I counted a bit on the days and i came to the solution that we need a challenge more before ambitions comes out - so after house hunters what will the next challenge be??

We're working on a collecting challenge at the moment.  I think Metro plans to schedule it after House Hunters.

I'm also looking forward to the collection challenge after finally learning to spot collectibles in WA.

One suggestion I'd like to make is that the display of collected items is a required part of the challenge.  For example, each class of collectible (beetles or differing cuts of emeralds) must have its own room and the collectibles have to be displayed on a surface (table, counter, etc).

This would require people to have to balance earning money with running around collecting.

Nice idea. Pam's actually going to be writing that portion of the challenge (metals, gems, etc) because that's her strength. I'm going to come up with other miscellaneous types of collections because that's my strength. Then we'll put our ideas together for the final rule set. I think the working title at the moment is the Crazy Eight's Collection Challenge. There will be 8 different collections and each collection will have 8 items scored. Should be fun. I need to finalize a few things with her soon and get something in the schedule.

Two more challenges have been added to the official schedule—The Crazy Eights Collector's Challenge and the Random Wishmaster's Quartet. With those two events scheduled that will take everyone to the point where I can then think about the Ambitions expansion for the July and beyond slots.

Yay more challenges! Looking forward to the collecting one as I don't do much of that. I'm getting Ambitions on the day of release in UK (well that's what I instructed little brother to get me for my birthday) so if you need anything playing around with please let me know, I'd be happy to help.

I will probably get mine then as well! At the same time as Abyshep, just as my Parents will be told every few days!  ;D

Metro - You know we have the caption contests, well could we have like monthly building ones too? I would be happy to help set them up!  :D

Would you mind sending me a PM with details of what you have in mind?  We're open to something like this and I'd like to get a good idea of what you're thinking.

Well, it could be interesting to make a challenge out if this: make a family millionaire (or multi if you prefer) in a certain amount of time. Limit the persons per household, limit the possibilities of actually getting there and maybe to make it a little bit more difficult: doing it without having a job.

And for the record: NO CHEATING!!! Just for in case someone would ask. ;)

While clicking on Post after I've finished my last post I thought about another challenge: the ultimate fighting bully.
Make a sim as strong as possible (martial art included) and upload them to someone here who can let them do a martial art fight to see who will win.
And I know this isn't as easy as it sounds. There are a lot of things that actually infuences the change of wining or losing, so train your best sim. Uhm, train them in a short amount of time maybe?

*Partly saying this as a joke: make the sim green, than we could rename this challenge to as Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles or Hulk, if you prefer. :P*
