And so this is not a frivolous post, may I say that I have really enjoyed this challenge even with the bug I encountered. I have always liked the photography part of WA and have always tried to have at least one photographer with a camera in each of my families.

Thanks, Metro. The bugs were nasty but I am more traumatized by what I did to my poor simmies to get a good photo. I suppose that's what a photo journalist in real life does though, see bad things happen and then take a picture and walk away. Gah, I'm too much of a softie.

I think generations has ruined my sims game. I could barely finish this challenge before the game just froze. Anyways my total $564,875 and 1.55. That makes my grand total 875,556.

I could earn a better score, but I'll have to deal with this one.

Congrats to you all who finished this challenge.

I've just found some interesting report about the photography bug on a site that I can't mention here.

According to them, it seems that the bugs are mostly happening when a Sim takes a snapshot while an opportunity is opened. All opportunities can be the cause (career, skill, special, but also adventures), and any member of the household is concerned, not only the wanna-be photographer.

What seems to solve the issue is to save, exit game, clear all the caches, then reload. And a properly patched game (*) helps decreasing the frequency. (*: patch all the .exe, not only the base game and the latest EP or SP, like the launcher does)

I'll only test this myself tonight in order to play the challenge 'just on time' tomorrow. I hope this will work and can still help some of you.

I think the stress in my post is on the 'mostly'

I can't say more right now. I still have to spawn a couple of babies for BBIII before I can patch and test this solution.

This challenge has been (mostly) fun so far. I never cared for photography very much before but I've gained a new appreciation for this skill. I had no idea photography could be so lucrative! The only problem has been that the game constantly freezes and I have to force quit without saving. I'm only six days into the game and it's already crashed four times. Three of the freezes occurred immediately after gaining a level in photography skill. I had hoped that since I've now reached level 10 the freezing would stop, but that wasn't the case. I'm just glad that I saved the game immediately before the last freeze so I didn't lose anything. I'm also glad my skill journal hasn't been messed up yet. I'll just keep my fingers crossed and hope I can finish this by tomorrow night.

Sadly, I gotta throw in the towel on this one. Two Sim-weeks into the game and I am hit with tons of bugs. Eventually, none of the subjects are registering on the camera and using the camera freezes up the Sim.

This was a fun challenge - up until the bugs. Oh well… On to BB III.

It took me ages to download the patch, but finally I was able to do a fast test.

With an opportunity locked, the photographer 'froze' and showed all the signs of a bug (no tag would show while taking the photo, I couldn't cancel the action anymore and the Sim wouldn't do anything after, and the photo skill tab was blank).

I did the save/exit/clear caches/reload steps, cancelled the opportunity, and my Sim could take a photo normally again. Just after the reload, the skill tab was still empty, but after this new shot, all the stats were back.

So, it's not sure that all the bugs with photography are related only to opportunities. But this is one way to avoid part of the problems.

HELLLP! I got the bug, too! And I'm almost out of time to finish this challenge. I want to try the solution above, but I don't know how to clear all the caches. Can anyone tell me? I'm just getting so frustrated because I couldn't finish the career challenge because of bugs, either.

By the way, I did have my photgrapher accept a challenge while traveling, and that is when things stopped registering and the take photo icon got stuck in the cue.

Well, misery loves company so I do feel a lot better knowing I wasn't the only one having a problem. I'm so sorry the game is buggy now because I also loved this challenge. When I started I never had taken a picture in the game with a camera so I learned a lot! Plus, who knew you could actually make money with photography?

I'm sorry this challenge was mess because of the buggy game but I really did enjoy it!

My problem was going on vacation. Everytime I went to any of the vacation destinations and tried to take a picture, there would be no picture captions and my game seemed to slow down a bit but did not lock up (the time kept clicking away) but my gal would just stand there and not do anything. At home I was always fine -- with or without challenges. So I'm going to throw in the towel also. Congrats to all who finished and my sympathy to anyone who could not!

Onward to the next challenge!

Metro i got struck by a bug to, now im struggeling to finish this on time.
None of my sims can sleep anylonger, evertime i try to send them to sleep they sleep like 5 sim minutes and then just jump out of bed.
I dont know what to do time is running and i want to complete this.

That's one of the bugs that I got and I tried all sorts of things (resetting Sim, saving and exiting the game, buying new and different beds, putting the bed at different places in the house, etc) and nothing got them out of that state. Oh, I did try using a sleeping bag and those seem to work (but the Sims really didn't like sleeping on them).

The worst part is that i play on my laptop because i never had bugs on it so im quite scared now.

Awww, don't feel that way. This is a great challenge and sure did enjoy it (I wished though that I could have played the entire 4 Sim weeks and not have to quit because of the bugs).
