For example, in Twinbrook no matter where your sim stands, the cheap diner does not register.

Weird. I've never had an issue getting a picture of Hogan's (and registering as Diner) in SV.

I can confirm this. None of my Dynasty photographers have been able to get the "Diner" shot in Twinbrook.

Wow. That's nasty. I wonder if deleting the Twinbrook Diner and replacing it with a new building would make any difference?

That's an idea!  I will try this with my test file and report back.  Right now I am up to my ears with babies, so maybe after the Boomer challenge.

There's a town that doesn't have a beach, too.  Is that Twinbrook?  Is it possible to get a beach photograph while traveling?

Twinbrook has a beach - kind of, at least. It's the thing with a gazebo type thing.

Yes, the beach in Twinbrook does register, at least it has for me. (Its across the street from the Diner.)

Maybe it's Riverview then.  I know there was one town that I couldn't get that photo.

The diner in Twinbrook doesn't register, as it's not set as a Diner with the same tag as the one in SV, you can get around the problem by either placing a copy of the SV diner, or not doing your neighbourhood in Twinbrook. I've been playing around with photography in one of my established families and can confirm this. There is a 3rd party mod somewhere that turns on the diner tag for the building, but obviously this isn't a solution for the challenge. So as with Late Night/Ambitions, I'm assuming we can add the diner, but if not I'd like to know ofc :)

Since the journal keeps track of money earned via photography, can we add to family funds in other (non-cheating) ways (such as a career or collecting)?  I know that will not affect the final score, but it could make life easier for the Simmies.

Definitely. Your sources of income are not restricted.

Are there any points for completing the skill challenges, you know the paparazzi and shutterbug challenges for instance.

Rachel

No. Just completing the various Photography Collections adds to the multiplier.

EDIT: Rachel, does your score in the career event need to be adjusted? I just thought of that. Let me know if it does.

Is moving to a new town allowed so that we can get shots that can only be gotten in some of the towns?

No, because your game clock would be automatically reset to Week 1, Day 1.

I'm wondering if we could add a note to the rule set about pictures missing from towns, as a heads up to the more novice players in this challenge, since these bugs exist for everyone. For example, the Diner in Twinbrook doesn't register.

Isn't that exactly what the Ansel Adams Master Shots are for?

Sure. But my concern is someone choosing to play in Twinbrook without knowing that the Diner is bugged, and then having to deal with the stress and frustration of not being able to photograph the Diner. Now they have to use one of their freebies when they shouldn't have had to. To me this isn't about strategy, it's about fairness, creating a level playing field.

As a matter of fact, Sunset Valley has all home settings/locations required to complete challenges. And everyone automatically has that town. Why can't it be the town where this challenge should be played? Both fair and convenient, IMO.

Hmmm...and what about those combo buildings in Bridgeport? Are they whacked out? I've never done photography in Bridgeport, but obviously something can't register as both City Hall and the Police Station at the same time.

Do Barnacle Bay and Riverview also have such problems? If so, then Sunset Valley really is the only "appropriate" town for the challenge.
