How about taking unnecessary risks? - eg. having a sim who already got singed try again to repair something without showing first? Its something I've done when I wasn't trying to kill a sim - I stupidly decided to 'risk it' but IMO its a fine line between intentionally killing a sim and ordering them to do something that will *probably* get them killed but it could equally happen accidentally - if you queue up a bunch of repairs/tinkers on a sim that isn't ready they could easily get killed while you're not looking.

Metro, I remember in answer to my question earlier you said you didn't want birthday cakes being used at any life stage.  I was wondering whether we could please get this added to the official rules?  Personally I wouldn't be able to conclude that things like caking a kid up to teenager wasn't allowed from the current rules.

I agree, ClayMask. I wasn't aware that using cake to age up early was considered cheating. I'm sure others aren't either. Many people I'm sure (myself included) read the rules very carefully, see what is not allowed, then come up with strategies avoiding those things. Cake seemed to me to be a perfectly fine option. If Metro says it isn't, might be a good idea to have that in the rules, imho.

Yeah, I'm starting to change my mind on some stuff like this only because it's completely natural. I mean there's a lot of ways to kill a Sim, and some are in the realm of what I would call "natural" — allowing them to get cursed, electrocuted, etc. Some are completely unnatural such as starving them or walling them up. I don't have a problem with the natural ones and I'll make the rules clear on that.

I'll make a concession here and allow the cake to be used early for any age stage aside from an Elder. Using it on an Elder is essentially going Dr. Kavorkian on them which is a bit too drastic. I'll clarify the rules now.

I have just a few questions:
1) It says in the rules to only make one YA sim, but since there are no restrictions on who we move in can we create the whole family in CAS?
2) Since family funds doesn't count in this challenge, can we use FreeRealEstate to buy a house?
3) I know we are supposed to use a new, unaltered Sunset Valley file, but can we build our own house (of course, staying away from buydebug)

Just wanted to clarify,
Thanks

No. You create one Sim and then if you want to add to the household later, that's fine.

2) Since family funds doesn't count in this challenge, can we use FreeRealEstate to buy a house?

Not many questions make me laugh out loud. The answer is no.

3) I know we are supposed to use a new, unaltered Sunset Valley file, but can we build our own house (of course, staying away from buydebug)

If you mean importing a house you already built ahead of time, no. But, choosing an empty lot in a fresh neighborhood and then building is fine.

I am about to start practicing for this challenge - my 21-yo daughter is driving from Texas New Mexico to California today so I need a distraction.  Although I am not sure how much of a distraction it will be since I named this particular sim after my daughter (she is a photographer).   ::)

Last place, here I come...  I have never, ever worked on Photography so this will be fun interesting.   :o

My daughter is safely in California, well as safe as a 21yo can be running around Los Angeles and after playing pretty much non-stop for two days I have completed this challenge and tomorrow I install Generations!

Rebekah Jacobs has had an interesting life and has a really, really dysfunctional family.  I enjoyed working Photography but I doubt I will ever put this much effort into the skill again.

Photos Taken : 250

Money Earned : 379,530

Collections Completed : 10 (10 x .05 = .50)

Total : 379,530 x 1.50 = 569,295

I had to complete it before I would let myself install Generations.  Tomorrow I install and then I start on the DecaDynasty.

This was a lot of fun, more than I thought it would be, based on my past irritations with the skill.  But I had fun and loved my little photographer even if she gives new meaning to dysfunctional.

great job! I'm almost done, but after seeing your score, I might wait until ones closer to mine come in.

I tryed to practice this challenge after installing Generations yesterday only to discover that there is a bug with photography. It doesn't appear to be happening to everyone, but just wanted to post a "heads up" to anyone attempting this challenge with Generations installed. I'm going to uninstall and try again!   ???

Taking a picture freezes the sim; no skill journal is showing up for photography, but our skills' journals are showing up. I thought my practice was bugged at first, but I tryed 2 more files and the same thing is happening. There are a couple people in the Sims 3 forum with the same issues even though I saw no one here with the problem yet.  :-\

Sorry for the bad news. I've really had to work on brushing up on my Sims photography skills! Not sure if it's Generations or the new "patch". I've uninstalled Generations and am going to check to see if the problem still exists.  ???

I have no idea what is going on in your game, CarlaluvsSims. I just did some testing (admittedly, not extensive) and everything seems normal — I took pictures of buildings, people, flowers, everything registered, I got a skill point and the skill journal showed up. So, for now, I'm stumped.   ???

My photography is working fine without Generations and appears to be a hit and miss thing. Thanks for checking, Metro! Looking forward to completing the challenge!  ;D

I have the patch but not generations yet (cos its not out here until tomorrow :()

I gained 1 level of photography from a book and clicked the journal button next to the skill - nothing happened. I opened my skill journal using another skill and selected the photography page and it was blank. I tried to take a picture with the camera and it would register anything and then after attempting to take the shot anyway my sim is stuck with the 'take photo' action which doesn't fire and can't be cancelled.

Carla - when you tried where you loading up sims from existing games or starting fresh? I tried with my careers sim because she already had the book and camera (wishful thinking) and that was all broken but I started a clean fresh game and sent my sim to egypt and everything worked fine for her.

I started with an existing game then tried fresh and got the same results. I've uninstalled Generations and moved my old files out so I'm playing with basic game and expansions and packs through Outdoor Stuff. Seems to be working fine this way so I'm going to play the challenge before I add anything else.

I have a feeling it's the new EP. I don't have that one (yet), but I do have the patch. I just checked my photo file and everything worked fine.
