Random Wishmasters II: Foster Parent Frenzy

Random Wishmasters II: Foster Parent Frenzy

Goal
Several players suggested bringing children and adoption into the picture to change things up from last year’s Random Wishmasters. So, I listened and implemented some new twists. For approximately half the challenge, you’ll focus on your two starting Sims and gaining as many Happiness Points for them as possible. Then the real fun begins at Week 7 where your Sims begin adopting one child every Sunday. How are you at juggling? Lol.

General Challenge Rules
The General Challenge Rules always apply. If applicable, exceptions will be noted below.

Specific Challenge Rules
  • Create 2 Young Adult Sims.
  • After you choose Create Sims, you must go with the appearance and gender of whatever the game gives you. Click the Personality button and choose the Randomize traits dice. You have to go with the first roll and no rerolling. Lifetime Wishes must be selected from the first 5 that the game offers — no Customize Lifetime Wish.
  • Change Lifetime Wish is banned.
  • Mid-Life Crisis and Motive Mobile is banned.
  • You are not allowed to add to the household until Week 7.
  • On Week 7, Day 1 you adopt 1 Sim (gender and age is your choice), and continue adopting 1 Sim every Sunday for the duration of the challenge. You may not add to the household except via the weekly adoption.
  • Traits of all adopted Sims must be random, including additional traits offered at birthdays.
  • Lifetime Wishes for adopted Sims must be chosen from any spawned LTW wish...again, no Customize Lifetime Wish.
  • For every LTW completed by a household member you are allowed to perform one early age up with a cake on any household member.
  • Your household is allowed 50 total days of vacation during this challenge. Each Sim on vacation counts as a day spent. For example, you have 3 Sims go on a 3-day vacation. You've spent 9 days against your 50 allowed.
  • This challenge concludes at the end of 12 weeks (Week 12, Day 7, 11:59 PM).

Scoring

Sim #1 - Sim #8 — At the conclusion of the challenge, pause your game and open the Lifetime Happiness tab for all 8 Sims to find out the Total Happiness Aquired. You'll need to mouse over the treasure chest to find out that figure.

Total — Add up all the Happiness Points from your 8 Sims for your Total.

Ack! I spaced out and forgot a vacation day restriction. I know NancyJ and others provided feedback last year and said there was way too much vacation allowed (100 days), so I'm cutting in half. I'll edit the rules momentarily.

Correct. All challenges are played at the Long setting (check out the General Rules sticky).

By Week 12 everyone will probably be ready to kill me with all of the juggling. Lol. But, last year we started with 4 Sims right off the bat, so at least for the first 6 weeks, it's a little more manageable. Plus, half the vacation time.

Awesome. Your performance in the Starship Crescent Wrench Challenge was quite impressive, so I'm sure you'll do well.

Oh yes, this is definitely going to be fun!  I'm really glad there will be less travel time too, considering all the travel bugs my Wishmasters had last year.  Can't wait for this one to start.

Are we allowed to choose a relationship for the two CAS sims? can two unrelated sims adopt children together?

Hmmm...it never occurred to me that you would not be able to. Someone obviously correct me if you can't. I have no problem with players establishing whatever relationship they want with their initial 2 CAS Sims.

You can, indeed. You can make them roommates, siblings, or a married couple (even same-gender).

When we are creating them, can we press the roll button once, or do we have to choose the one it automatically gives you?
And, If we still keep the same genetics (Facial Features) Can we change the hairstyle?

They can adopt, but they won't both be parents.  For example, in my Riches Galore story there are 2 siblings who adopt children.  When Pippa adopts a child, that child becomes niece or nephew to Pippa's brother Sebastian, just as in real life.  If you want the children to "belong" to both your original Sims, the original Sims need to be a married couple.

Yeah, when you're creating your initial 2 Sims, you'll have to click the dice once — but, that's it. You have to go with that first set of traits and then choose one of the LTW from those that spawn at that point. As far as appearances, don't change anything. The personality button is really the only place you should go to roll the traits.

So we are not allowed to change their wardrobe in CAS either?  That would be a bumber.  The randomizer sometimes makes some really weird combinations.  Meh.  Whatever happens, happens.

It's been a long time since I've played with non-adult Sims!  However, I remember that if your Sim does well in that stage of life, you get to chooose a trait for him/her when the Sim ages up.  So, how do we make this trait random if we have to choose it?  Is there a "spin" button for the age transition traits, too?

Look, do I honestly care deep down inside if you change appearances? No. But, humor me and go with the flow here — it's a random challenge. Everything about your Sims is random. If you change them to how you want them, then it's not random anymore.

Yes there is, the dice appear at age ups.

If you go with the first sim that comes up and don't hit random in the appearance, it will be a premade sim anyway.

But once the game is started, can we do a make over at the Salon? Or change outfits using a dresser?

I guess I don't have a problem with that — make sure you're fulfilling a wish though. That's my stipulation. If you simply don't like the look and want to change them and they don't have a wish, tough luck. You'll have to deal with the mohawk.
