This is my first Challenge? I don't know the right word for it. Can we finish the game in one real time day or do we have to do one sim day every real person day?
I know it's a stupid question but...

Hi, rockcc12! You can play at your own pace, whatever pace that might be, as long as you start after the starting time and finish before the deadline. Given that this challenge runs through 12 sim weeks, I don't think it would be possible to finish in 1 real day, and going at 1 for 1 might be too slow...

I guess the simple answer is no. (And no, it's not a stupid question.) You have 10 weeks of real time in which to complete a game of 12 weeks Sims time. You certainly don't have to do it all in one day and can space it out any way you want. Hope this helps!

They can adopt, but they won't both be parents.  If you want the children to "belong" to both your original Sims, the original Sims need to be a married couple.

OK, just about to start and wanted to confirm something...
Do they have to be a married couple in order for the adopted kids to belong to both sims or can they be siblings/roommates and have the children belong to one or the other?

I ask because my test couple just came up same sex.

Same-sex couples can get married in Sims 3.

I'm not 100% sure just like that, but I think that even a single Sim can adopt. So same sex couple shouldn't be a problem either.

Good luck tjsmetana!

Yeah I know they can, but I don't play same sex couples.

I know singles can adopt, I am asking if the children have to belong to both sims for the challenge.  Or if it is ok that they only belong to one or the other.

I'm afraid Metro is away for some days. But just checking the rules, I see nothing that implies the 2 starting Sims have to be married. The rules say you must adopt, but nothing about who adopts, and under which status.

Yeah that is how I read the rules too.  It was the discussion later that left me unsure.

I've scanned the thread and found this post here. It seems there is no requirements on who the adopted Sims are related to.

Just generated my sims for this one - I got a grumpy one again, with a side order of no sense of humour :(

Grumpy is never good but I kind of like no sense of humor for certain sims.  If you don't already know why I bet you'll see soon.

And I got a Cowardly Adventurer and a Humorless Snob with Commitment Issues.  But at least they came back male/female for the official file.

Oh, dear.  I have a Dislikes Children!  I randomized the relationship between the two sims, too, and his fiancee has Commitment Issues.  This is going to be fun.   ;D

Both of my Sims have the inappropriate trait which has led to some hurt feelings right off the bat. Seeing as they are currently only boyfriend and girlfriend, I guess I will have to be on my toes.

I was very lucky in the way of traits. The only ones that won't be of much help are Excitable, Lucky and maybe Evil and Hot-Headed. I'll just have to play along and see :)

Sadly, I will no longer be able to participate in any more events. My computer has decided to feel its age and won't let me play sims, even vanilla, for more than 20 minutes before it shuts off (not just the game, my comp). online games seem to be fine, but pc games overheat my computer.

I had a blast with the tournament and I'm sorry that I can no longer play. I've been a serious sims addict for about 6 years now, so this is a big letdown. I hope wish all of you the best.

Overheating's a very fixable problem. Have you tried cleaning out your fans? (and checking they're all still spinning?)
