Tiberium gem- heart cut grew into spire cut
« on: January 10, 2010, 04:09:59 AM »
I planted some heart cut tiberium at the back of my lot and some of them became spire cuts!  Sure beats getting spire cut straight off.

Yes, it's true.  I posted about this in a thread asking about where to get Tiberium, but I'm glad you started this new one.  It deserves its own thread!

I've had several heart cut Tiberium gems transform into the full size spire cut.  It's a lot cheaper than cutting it into the small spire and you really get the same end result.  The small spire cut it $6,500 and the heart cut is $1,000.  Both will transform to a very nice $40,000ish large spire.  You don't have to put it in a garden or on the yard for it to happen, though.  I just put mine on the floor or on a table.  As long as they have some space around them, they'll do it.

Yeah, but don't they just cut themselves?

I'll test this method on the Sim I have who has the rocks from board breaking in Sunset Valley. His gems wouldn't grow unless they were spire-cut, this would definitely up the profit margin on those. As to why they wouldn't grow, that's still a mystery -- must be that travel effect people have brought up.

The raw Tiberium appears to transform only when the Sim travels with the Tiberium in inventory.  So, any Tiberium found in the wild will transform once your Sim gets back home because it's only available in foreign locations, which requires travel to return home.  For Tiberium gotten by breaking space rock blocks, you need to have it cut for it to transform.

Carl, I've had many heart cut Tiberium gems transform to the full size spire cut that's worth $40,000.  Just make sure you don't set them too close together when they come back from the gem cutters.

My sim got one from a space rock and it transformed, but that was after she'd gone to France and I left the Tiberium in the base camp.

Raw tiberium is inert, but if you leave it on the sim's inventory until the sim gets the sick moodlet from it, it activates and it will eventually cut itself (activated tiberium is of different color and glows, just like cut tiberium). So no need to travel with it

I'm sorry to sound dumb, but I have only dealt with it once, it made my sim very sick from having it, and I have no idea what its about... something about growing it?
Doesn't that require some Omni-Plant
just curious.
Is it listed somewhere in the guild for me to look for?

LivvieLove -

I believe that Tiberium is something that Carl's still working on for the guide.  There has been a lot of debate and conflicting information about it.  My personal experience is that Tiberium only makes my Sim sick if he carries it while traveling or carries it after it's cut to heart shape.  Once your Sim is getting sick from it (whether it's raw or cut), you just need to remove it from inventory and place it somewhere on your lot.  It doesn't matter where, as long as there's nothing directly beside it.  In a short time, it will morph into the large spire cut that's worth so much money.  It doesn't reproduce or grow beyond that one morphing stage.

I have never gotten mine cut before, just returned home from vacation and put in the yard or somewhere and have never gotten less than 38,000, didnt know you could get it cut and it would grow without going on vacation.  Ya learn something new everyday, lol....will have to try.  My girl gets tiberium all of the time when doing space rock, she got two in a row and so I thought I had to take her to another country for her to get sick.  Thanks for the info.

I know almost nothing about gem cutting in this game.  I think I found some topaz or something in the graveyard and sent it off to be cut, but only emarald cut came up.  It didn't seem to be worth all that much money.  I checked Carl's guide and couldn't find anything about it, but then, I'm sometimes good at missing things.  Is there a guide or forum post someone could point me in the direction of?

Did some experimenting, skull tiberium only gets you around 6000 simoleons, I actually thought if I got a skull it would be worth a fortune, so I guess the only thing you can do is just have the large spire cut.  I had a heart shaped and a small spire and neither one of them grew into a large spire.  She has had as high as five in her inventory, so I just took her and vacation and came back and grew them that way.  Oh well, I tried.

When you set them out of your inventory, be sure to have some space around each of them.  If there is something directly next to it, there's no space for it to morph.  Otherwise, I don't know why your cut Tiberiums didn't morph.

Did get tiberium heart cut and spire cut and then laid them around and it does take a while for them to grow into large spire, but finally they grew.  Sure beats going on vacation everytime you get a tiberium.  Thanks for the info.

Sometimes it helps to carry the cut Tiberium around in your Sim's inventory.  If the nauseous moodlet appears, it will transform quicker when you take it out.

Correction, raw tiberium won't go emo until it gives you the nauseous moodlet.

Indeed I was.  Thanks, wildredchild!  To be clear:  Send raw Tiberium to be cut, carry it in inventory for a few days when it comes back, if the nauseous moodlet appears it will transform pretty quickly when removed from inventory and placed in a clear area.

Wow...I never knew this. Back at my Sims' old house, I remembered having a heart cut Tiberium, but some days later, I 'suddenly' noticed it was gone(me and my absent-mindedness). I guess that's what happened to it. I must have ended up with a large spire cut Tiberium, then sold it and never paid attention as to where it came from. Interesting. :)

Ok, come to think about it, I did get one cut and it was in her inventory and I took it out and it didnt take it long to grow, guess I need to pay more attention to these things, LOL.  Will say, tiberium skulls are not worth very much, darn, really thought I had something there.

Yeah, the most valuable Tiberium by far is the large spire cut.  But having a skull cut is still cool for a collection.  :D

I agree with this. I'm less about making millions of Simoleons than just completing as many collections as I can. I'm sort of hoarding Tiberium due to an 'unhealthy' obsession with it. LOL  I mean come on, it's green and sparkly..green's one of my favorite colors, so it's a win-win situation.

On another note, I think they should also add Blue Tiberium to the game. That would be awesome.

I have a question. I don't know if is the right place but it's about Tiberium so... I want to know where I can find it. Is it in a particular place or can I find it even in Riverview? I found it once, but I forgot where.

Tiberium is found in the foreign countries.  It's very rare and hard to find in the wild.  Sometimes the relics merchant will have some Tiberium that you can buy.  And you can also get Tiberium from having a Martial Artist break space rock blocks.

I found one in Egypt, out in the middle of no where.  Found one on a grassy spot near the water across from the big empty house.  Once you find one, the next time it comes back it is in a different place.  I used the buydebug mode and put a spawner in my girls yard.  She gets about 3 a day for a few days and then it skips a day and then she will find about 6 for a couple of days.  I dont usually use cheats, but thought it would be cool to have butterflies and a couple of gems in my yard.

Glad to hear that you are getting them now, usually in one session, my little girl gets a pink diamond, soulpeace, tiberium and a couple of odd ball gems, but that is the best way if you really want to collect them and make some money.

I found some Tiberium in a chest at the top of the Chateau de Landgraab in France.  I was thrilled, since my vacation was a few hours away from ending, so I just sent my Sim up there on a whim to see where the stairs led.  It was already spire-cut, so I just dumped in the backyard as soon as I got home.  Very excited to see what happens next!

I'm assuming it was small spire cut, since it didn't look very big to me!  I believe its value was $105, but I'll have to double-check that whenever I next play the game.

Well, it grew!  Dear lord, that is a leap in value, isn't it?  From $105 to over $35,000!  Will it grow any more, or should I just sell it / display it now?

That's as far as it will go.  Sometimes the value will be more, but it depends on the original weight.  The most I've had one worth is probably $45,000.  But once it's morphed into the large spire, it's done.

It will transform anywhere.  On the floor, table, stand, etc.  The main thing is to make sure it has space around it.  Don't set anything directly next to it.  It needs the space to grow.

There are several different cuts that are unlocked by sending certain numbers of gems to be cut.

Emerald - Always
Oval - 4
Pear - 8
Plumbob - 16
Marquis - 30
Crystal Ball - 45
Brilliant - 60
Heart - unlocks when you have found all the basic gems in your start town.

Spire cuts, Large gems and skull cuts are available using the Cartiers Display case transmutes.  Some of the gems look really great when you take the time to collect the gems and transmute them.  Large rainbow skull gems are definitely worth the time to create.

Actually very accurate except that you don't have to find all the basic gems in your start town.  They can be replaced by finding other gems in the WA countries, aka China, France and Egypt.

That's right... The heart cut became MUCH easier to unlock since WA came out.  I don't have the number right now, but it is based on the number of different gems you have found.  So when you find new gems in foreign lands, it counts towards the number you need to unlock the heart cut.

There are several different cuts that are unlocked by sending certain numbers of gems to be cut.

Emerald - Always
Oval - 4
Pear - 8
Plumbob - 16
Marquis - 30
Crystal Ball - 45
Brilliant - 60
Heart - unlocks when you have found all the basic gems in your start town.

You always need to find 10 gems to unlock the heart shaped cut. The base game only has 10 gems so you have to find every one. With WA, any 10 gems will do. So if you can't find the rare rainbow gem or pink diamond, just pick up a couple of common gems while traveling, and you'll have that heart shaped cut unlocked in no time at all.

I have only ever found Tiberium once, in egypt and they never sell it in the relics shop. Are there any particular locations in Egypt where it is found? I have the Collection Helper, but I have spent whole holidays collecting.

It took me forever to finally find one tiberium in Egypt.  It has green spikes on it, but also looks like emerald.  If there is more than one there, then I couldn't find it.  They show up randomly, but the place I usually find it is around the bend from the three pyramids around those ruins.  It is usually by itself, but there again, who knows.  lol

He, maybe I'm just lucky, but the first place I ever got a tiberium from was a relics-shop and I always stop by them everyday to see if they have soulpeace, tiberium or pink diamonds. You'd be positively surprised to see how often they actually have that stuff!
